I bought the 30 day meal planner and cook book from Dr Edes. In it they say a man can lose 3-5 lbs of body fat a week. That sounds like alot seeing you can eat 1 slice of low carb bread ( 8 net carbs/slice) and a small piece of fruit or a veg. I have been following it for 2 weeks and feel great and feels like my stomach is flat and things are going well, but 3-5 lbs a week!

The relevant piece is that you turn over into fat burning, rather than sugar burning. At 8 net + whatever is in the fruit or veg, you're probably well below the 40g giving in PPLP and well below the 60 threshold where most people kick over into fat burning. If you follow those menus, you will get adequate everything, reasonably low carbs enough to kick you over, and reasonably low calories (15-1800) to keep you burning stored fat rather than dietary. So, it seems within reason.

Lastly, remember, CAN is not WILL or even SHOULD EXPECT TO. It is possible for a young man, with a decent metabolism, to lose 3-5 lbs a week considering he has a lot to lose and not much in the way of metabolic problems. But if you're thinking it's going to get you from 15% down to 10% bodyfat in 30 days, you probably have another think coming.

It also depends on how much you weigh. Men typically lose on the order of 1-2% of their body weight per week whereas women tend to lose 0.5-1%/wk (after the initial water loss).

Just curious... What book is this and can be it purchased from this site?

Thanks!
