Hello!
I was wondering if anyone could address this question for me. I've been low carbing for several months, mostly Atkins style (more off, than on recently) and I've been drinking an Atkins ready to drink canned shake most days. I'm not big on breakfast and this has been a life saver for me.
I'm closer to goal and am preparing to stay with Protein Power for the duration. Can I still have this? 160 calories, 9 grams fat, total carbs 4 grams, 2 grams fiber.
My stats FYI..
46 year old female/5'2/ started low carb July 2007/start weight 202/now 154/goal is 135 or below. Would love to get into 120's, but am realistic!
Thanks!
Debbie

If it fits in your carb limit, and works towards your protein goals, why wouldn't you be.
FWIW: The Atkins brand ready to drink shakes have traditionally be a stalling item for a lot of people. I know they reformulated with more protein in the past year or so, so it may no longer be the case, but they used to contain glycerol (or is it glycerine) which slowed people down quite a bit.

I agree...I tend to go for the EAS Carb Control shakes if I need a ready to drink shake. They have more protein per drink (17g) and less junk, and stay at 2g ECC
And I make my own from a dry mix (a version of the thin so fast shake that the Drs came up with way back when they were first starting - search "thin so fast" for the recipe/thread)...but in mine there is a LOT LESS calories and fat, so I usually need something with it like an egg, or some salami. It's not enough alone. It stopped me from losing cause I was not getting ENOUGH calories.

Thanks for the information Max! I didn't see glycerin or anything similar in the ingredient listing, but I will look closer at any products I'll consider now.
Gaelen, I'll have to try the carb control again. Several years ago I did BBF and that was what I used. I got that I couldn't stand it any more, but I was drinking it several times a day. Way too much!!
BTW... I forgot to list that the shakes have 15 gram protein, so pretty good there.
Thanks again everyone!

I recommend this thing so much that I should buy stock.
Worldwide Nutrition makes ready to drink shakes in chocolate, vanilla, cookies&cream, banana, and strawberry, in a Light version that is 21G protein (have actually only seen light in choc and vanilla) and 2-3 ECC (Vanilla is the 2, everything else is 3) and a regular version that ups the protein to 35g without increasing carbs. The 35 is 170 calories, so very low fat, but a very good protein number for RTD without tasting like it's 35g of protein (I've seen one that offered 51g of protein in a RTD. I dunno if I want to use the word taste with how it tasted. Suffice to say, not good).
As I said, Atkins reformulated in the last year or so. They used to have something like 9g of protein in a can.

Where do you get EAS Carb Control shakes?
Jeanne Marie, around here they carry them in my supermarket (Wegmans, Price Chopper), in GNC, and in Walmarts--just for starters. I think they may also carry them in Rite Aid/Walgreens pharmacies. Hope this helps.
