I don't usually start threads but I have to share this or croak. I donated blood last week and today got online to check my choresterol numbers as mine have been going up for the last 3 blood tests.

Lo and behold mine was 215 !! That is a beauty as far as I am concerned as it was, I think , 269 last time I had it done. Soooo happy with 215.

Really pleased because a few years back when I was doing pp I lost 34 pounds but my ch kept climbing, and after over a year of doing pp it was around 287. So I didn't have much faith this go round that my reading would drop at at all . Imagine my surprise !! I will have to say I had great ratios tho, and my hdl was 95. So I felt good about that.

Now, I can't wait to go to the doc in April for my official chloresterol test whereas, I was really dreading it before getting these new figures. (Just because I know how they always want to put you on meds and I hate going through that refusal again.) It's like they think I'm trying to off myself when I don't want to take that stuff.

This is really a great news!! I'm happy for you and, well, it gives me some hope for my next cholesterol test. Once again, Félicitations!, as we say here in France :)

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the support and good wishes.

Good luck on your efforts with Ch too, Adina.

I think I am taking more fish oil than I did last time, but I can't be one hundred percent sure. I'm going to keep it up tho, just in case.

Thank you, Karole :). I don't take any fish oil but I do eat a lot of fatty fish everyday (I don't eat meat at all), do you think that could work, too? I have another question: looking at your signature I can see that you do resistance training and aerobics - do you think it can have any connection with the improvement of Ch numbers? Looks like a silly question, but I just wonder... (I know - heard at least ;) - that it makes good to "move and shake" but still there are days when I do nothing but sitting at my desk.) My next blood test is in the month time followed by the meeting with a Statins Obsessed Doctor so perhaps I should move and shake a bit more?

Adina,

Fatty fish everyday will surely supply the required Omega-3 as well or better than fisl oil supplements. If I could afford it, I would eat sashimi evryday! Resistance training helps increase HDL levels. Also, higher fat intake increases HDL.

Sounds like it is all good !! I am going to start eating more fish--had tuna yesterday and salmon today so I have actually started already !! Plus with the Carlson cod liver oil I take, surely I will have great results when I go for a new test of my chlolesterol.

Thanks, Iczeledoc, I'm glad to know that (about higher fat increasing hdl.)I ought to do well there, as my fitday says I usually have somewhere in the 60% range as far as fat is concerned. My hdl should be great. Once I had it up to 95 when I was on pp a few years back.

CBS had a report on the nightly news about chlolesterol meds being prescribed to any and everyone with a high reading.

According to the doc they interviewed, too many folks are taking the risks and getting no benefit from the meds. He said unless the ldl is over 160 or a person has had a heart attack or has heart disease , they shouldn't automatically be treated.

It is so good to hear mainstream media touting the same info we have been reading from Dr. Eades and others about the subject.
