Mine, without a doubt, is a spinach and feta cheese omelet. I eat one almost every morning. Yummers. :p

If I am not eating that, I make a protein drink with Spirutein and I use unsweetened almond milk as the base and add some frozen strawberries and ice cubes. It makes a creamy milkshake. I use a blender by the way.

Spirutein is a soy based protein and tastes great. It only has 14 carbs plus whatever you may add but the almond milk has no sugar. It also has 14 grams of protein so its a good balance.

I tend to prefer a shake for breakfast because it's fast, it's portable, and it can give me a good-sized protein hit for minimal carbs.

My cinnamon hazelnut mocha shake is 4 oz. plain kefir, 4-6 oz. cold hazelnut coffee, 1 oz. of half and half, 1/4 cup ricotta cheese, a dash of cinnamon and 1 scoop (a half-serving) of Isopure chocolate whey protein. It comes in around 8g ECC and 40 grams of protein. You can use your protein powder of choice; I like Isopure because it packs the biggest bang for the lowest carb count.

I've used almond milk before, but have never found an unsweetened almond milk that had more than 2g protein--and most of the sweetened varieties also have at least 7g carbs per eight oz. What brand are you using that has 14g protein?

Another soy protein that tastes pretty good but is lower in carbs in GNC protein 95--the vanilla only has 3g carbs, and the chocolate has 5g carbs if I remember correctly. If you're using Spirutein plust almond milk and strawberries, the shake may taste wonderful but is around 20g ECC per serving, depending on the amount of berries (1/4 cup?) and almond milk. That may be fine for you, but there are lower carb soy protein isolates out there.

It's the Spirutein that has 14 grams of protein. The almond milk has about 2 grams also. I use the Blue Diamond brand. I love the taste of almond milk. I have never been a fan of cow's milk.

There are an infinite variety of protein drinks which makes it fun to experiment.

I don't do the protein drink very often and when I do, I make up for it on having less carbs throughout the day. I stay around about 55 grams per day because I do workout hard on the weights and I have no health problems. I am about 20 lbs overweight though. My mom was diabetic (type 2) so I am trying to keep from that problem.

favorite favoriteFAVORTIE is crepes and fruit with whipped cream--but this is just weekend fare as there isn't time most mornings!

the crepes are just eggs , sour cream, a little whey protein powder and a little water ( oh yeah some baking powder ) its a variation of the eades crepe recipe from the cookworx cookbook. then fresh fruit--berries usually and some whipped cream (homemeade; splenda sweetened)

most regular days I have muffins ( my recipe is posted in the recipe section) --I keep 'em in the freezer at all times! 15 grams protein and less than 5 ECC

I like a shake too; my fave:-- water, the triple frozen berries from costco, whey protein ( 20 grams protein 2 ecc) a little splenda and a splash of cream.

my customary breakfast is a berry shake (vanilla pp + raspberries or blackberries or strawberries or blueberries); sometimes a mocha shake (vanilla pp + espresso powder + unsweetened cocoa (TJ brand) )

my favorite breakfast would be pancakes or french toast (either Big Train pancake mix or FT using lower carb bread) + sausage or bacon & smaller pp shake to round out the protein content - but that's an infrequent indulgence.

I'm so boring, but I love a couple eggs, a couple sausage, and a 1/2c milk and maybe a clementine or berries.
The old traditional breakfast with no bread!

My wife makes some great cream cheese pancakes and I cook up some eggs. Sadly that doesn't translate well into breakfast during the week so on my own I do a low-carb tortilla with some lunch meat on my way out the door.

My regular breakfast is mixed berries (I buy them frozen and nuke them) with cottage cheese. Takes seconds to make so an excellent weekday choice.

Eggs and sausage and fruit is probably my favourite weekend breakfast.

I'm really boring, too.
2 eggs,
cooked hard boiled, or hard fried, or scrambled (the only way I vary - sometimes scramble them into some chopped ham or peppers w or w/o a drop of tomato)
(although I actually cook 3 eggs and give my devil dog one (or about one)
2 slices of bacon, unless I'm in the mood for change, then 2 sausages
coffee with a touch of half and half in it.

week-ends, for a treat, dh makes the eggs:D
he actually makes killer omelets, usu with swiss cheese in it for me.

My fave, if there's time? A fried fish filet with one egg, fried sunnyside up. I also love a basic crustless quiche (6 eggs; 1 c. shredded cheese, 1 container heavy cream baked at 350 for an hour) which you can doctor up any way you want (sauteed sausage, parboiled cauliflower, etc.) and should get you through six servings. Dana Carpender has recipes for hot cereal and protein powder pancakes, all of which are really nice. I also love Gaelen's PB muffins with a fried egg. Breakfast is perfect for PP.

I've finally switched over lately. Been scrambling some eggs, heating up some canadian bacon and putting it all in a low-carb tortilla with some cheese. Lots of protein and I can roll it up to take on the go.

Top notch :)

My favorite breakfast is slices of steak leftover from the night before with a few pieces of fruit. No cooking, minimal clean-up, and it keeps me feeling satiated well into lunchtime.

This is a new concotion I just came up with. 1 7 oz container of fage yogurt, 1/2 cup carb countdown milk, 1/2 cup frozen mixed berries (might need to cut this down due to carbs), 2 tbsp strawberry whey protein powder, 1 tbsp blueberry davinci syrup, 1 tbsp strawberry davinci syrup. blend. YUMMY!!

Gaelen: your kefir shake looks interesting. I don't have hazlenut coffee but I have hazlenut syrup. I'm thinking I can try some espresso with some syrup or some instant coffee grounds with some syrup. amaretto might also be a good flavor for this. I'll experiment.

My favorite breakfast (which I can eat only on weekends due to work/travel time constraints) is, simply:

4 slices of thick-sliced bacon
4 large eggs (over medium, fried in the bacon fat)
1 lc tortilla w/0.5 Tbs butter

That's about 47g protein, 44g fat, & 8g ECC (the tortilla contributes 6 & the eggs 2). Total calories is around 650-700 (contingent on how big the "0.5 Tbs" of butter actually is). Satiety lasts for 4-5 hours.

There.

Mock Danish

I have no idea where this recipe originally came from or I'd credit it.
Edited: It looks like this recipe originated from Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes. http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/brownie_mock_danish.html

2 oz cream cheese
1 egg
1 Tbs Splenda (or equivalent)
1/2 tsp vanilla

Soften cream cheese in microwave for 30 seconds. Whisk egg in a cup and them mix into softened cream cheese. Don't overmix. When you cook this goodie, you'll want little melty pockets of cream cheese.

Blend in remaining ingredients and microwave on high for 2 minutes.

I usually double the recipe because I am a little piggie. It's heavenly with some lowcarb jam tossed in the middle before baking.

Other interesting variations:
- Add cinnamon and butter.
- Cocoa makes it brownie-like
- Try it savory (Parmesan, spices, salt)
- Add pumpkin pie spice, mashed pumpkin

I also love smoothies made with almond milk, protein powder, and frozen berries.

That sounds delicious. I think the originator of that recipe is a gal named Linda Sue from Jimmy Moore's forum. She's got a wonderful low-carb recipe site as well.

That looks like some major food porn.

Edited: You are correct! I just found her recipe for Brownie Mock Danish (http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/brownie_mock_danish.html), and it's basically the same thing I posted, so I will edit my post to assure proper credit. Thanks.

Ha! I recently head that term used - on a self-help radio talk-show, I think.

Judging by my TV viewing habits ... I just may be a food-porn addict! I love Food TV. Maybe too much. :o

I like to fry up 2 sausage patties (crumbled), the add 2 cups fresh frozen collard greens, 1 cup fresh frozen cauliflower and 2 eggs. A little salt and pepper and it's really good, not to mention it'll keep you regular!

Cheers,

George

I like that too ... but lately it's just been a protein shake! But there is nothing better that leftover steak from the night before and a couple of eggs.

I like one-pan messes: Eggs, bacon (or sausage, etc.), mushrooms, peppers, onions with some melted cheddar on top.

me too...but I'll say this...I have my breakfast down to an art.

Get pan, put in butter, drop in eggs.
Get plate, put on pre-cooked sausages, hit the 30sec button
Get bread, throw in toaster.

Check eggs
pull out sausages-wipe plate of excess grease

Flip eggs, turn off fire
put eggs on plate with sausage
butter toast, put on plate

sit and eat

Yup! You da WOMAN! If I'm feeling domestic, I might beat the eggs with some cream and seasoning. My favorite egg seasoning, besides salt, is basil, tumeric and onion (usually powder).

Mmmm ..... Iced tea for breakfast....

My stomach doen't do well with "HOT" drinks -- like coffee or hot tea, hot chocolate. But I can't ever imagine a bad time for ICED Tea!

I make one of those 3 1/2 liter water bottles about every other day of Iced Tea..... Love it!:cool:

I might substitute a glass of milk too ... but with the Tea I can drink as much as I want ... with the milk -- one glass to still be on track for the day carb wise. I only add 8 oz of milk to my protein shakes in the morning too.

yeah, I make 2liter of green tea (iced) that lasts me 1.5 days. I miss it when I'm at home since the tea I make is at work.
At home we don't have an ice machine (or room for ice cube trays) so I just drink water at home.

On the weekendsj, for breakfast, I usually enjoy what we call "garbage eggs". We add whatever is in the fridge. Our favorite is eggs, cheese, asparagus, tomato, and on top we put salsa.

I also drink two servings of the newer product called "greenteahp" they have a website http://greenteaHP.com check it out.

I've done that on a Sunday morning out in the dutch oven. Eggs, any meat (sausage, bacon, leftover steak, chicken, pork ...) cheese, onions, zucchini, asparagus, tomato -- and *I* put salsa on everything I can!

Hope that some stats will be compiled after a suitable time.

My favourite breakfast/brunch/first meal must have eggs - scrambled, fried, boiled for 5 mins or an omelette. With most eggy stuff, gotta have some salty pig - thin Canadian style bacon, minimal carb European (Italian?) sausage or even salami.

During 6WC meat week I developed my "fast breakfast" . Throw about 4 links of 1/4 inch cubed cold sausage onto hot pan 'til smoking. Crack three eggs on top of sausage and cook as to how you like your eggs - mine MUST have soft yolks. Slide onto plate, including cooking fat and eat.

Since going on the 6WC, I have effectively stayed on the "meat week" macro nutrient proportions, tho' I no longer count grams or Kcals. I now eat two meals a day, and am on an intermittent fast (IF) routine without having made a decision to do so. Usually I brunch at 13:30, so I will have been fasting for 17 - 18 hours. Today I was out and busy, and the duration before eating again was 21 hours. I do not feel the need to eat, no gnawing hunger cravings, so I don't; guess I'm lucky, the high fat content takes its own time to get used up!

Has anyone else found this kicking in?

low carb cheese blintzes with sour cream and frozen blueberries, several slices crisp bacon, and a cup of excellent coffee with half and half
