I've been posting in this thread: http://www.proteinpower.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2324&page=4

The last thing I posted was concerning Black Cohosh, but figured I might get more response if I were to put it in a thread of its own.

A friend of mine at work (a year older than me -- she's 53, I'm 52) started taking Black Cohosh several months ago because of horrible hot flashes and mood swings. She told me yesterday that she hasn't had a single hot flash since starting to take it, and even her husband reports that her mood swings have gone by the wayside.

Hmmmm. So I got some and took my first dose 2 hours ago.

Anyone else have experience with Black Cohosh? THANKS!

When I had my fibroid tumor and it was sucking the life out of my ovaries and pushing them into early menopause, I took it for night sweats. It did really help. I didn't have hot flashes during the day, just night sweats, and they were reduced when I was taking it regularly and consistantly.
I won't say it made them go away completely, but it did reduce their intensity and frequency.

Since my tumor was removed, I am not in any form of menopause and have (hopefully) many years before it comes back (I'm 37).

I use Lydia Pinkham, same as my grandmother did, which has black cohosh in it. There are a couple of other menopausal blends that contain the cohosh.

I've used the remifemin mentioned here, too.

But did they help? If so, what were your symptoms (and severity) before, and then after?
