"I was always looking outside myself for strength and confidence, but it comes from within. It is there all the time."
--Anna Freud

Sometimes we do look outside or to others for strength. It's great to be supported with friends and family, support groups when we are struggling with something going on in our lives. But like any well-oiled machined, strength comes from within. From our minds, and spirits and our bodies, we had it all the time, we just either didn't access it or didn't know how.

This weekend we might all be busy doing things with family and friends, or outside or around the house, many different things going on. There might be Easter candy, scalloped potatoes--you know the carb porn items we better not go into in depth, :D but just a thought--your strength and confidence not to overdo, to pass on the Easter Candy is within you. There's not going to be the board handy around the dinner table, but you've got all the tools to make the decisions to say, Thanks but no. You have the strength and the really the privilege to do that.

Enjoy the weekend, whatever you maybe doing, but remember the power has always been inside each one of us.

TGIF, and Happy Weekend!

You know, with me it's not so much the candy, which is blatantly sugar. It's the starchy veggies that crook their little fingers at me. I know I can get away with a little bit, but I keep forgetting that I can also rationalize my way into overdoing it.

Sunday dinner at Mom's and I'm bringing the vegetables. Green beans almondine are my old standard and everybody likes them. I brown up slivered almonds in butter until they're the right shade, then throw in a tablespoon of lemon juice to stop the cooking. Dump them onto the hot, steamed green beans and dig in. I have done the almonds early and cooled them and they're fine when they it the hot beans.

My strength comes from the Lord. He gave me a free will and sometimes I don't choose wisely. C'est la vie! I know where to turn when life lets me down. That kind of speech isn't necessarily used here, but we were talking about strength from within and that's where mine comes from.

Have a wonderful Easter weekend! I have DSL now, so you may see more of me from my home computer. :D

I couldn't agree more Billie. Ultimately I'm the only one responsible for me...not Michael...not my family of carbers. We get together for Easter breakfast and I look at all the candy the kids get and all I see is "poison" so I have no problem looking away. It starts from within....
