Good Morning All -

I'll start this morning since I'm not very motivated to get to work around the house, just yet!:D

This is my first day home this week with nothing on the calendar!:D:D Oh, I'm looking forward to it, so are the boys.

Here is my inspiration today.

I received PPLP a few days ago, having taken Dr. Mike up on the offer of a free book, just pay for shipping. I have never read it, just heard everyone talk about it. So, I started glancing through the book, specifically the last part where it explains the eating. Just reading that chapter caused a HUGE lightbulb effect! For some reason, it clicked with me.

I discovered that due to my lifestyle of three little boys underfoot, a Hedonist approach is the most realistic - AND THAT'S OKAY. I discovered that keeping track of carbs per meal and snack - 7-10g per meal/snack for intervention, is easier that counting the day as a whole. Hey! I have ten fingers that can help me count per meal! AND THAT'S OKAY.

I think I have been making this WOE MUCH harder than it needs to be.

The best part is that as I'm reading the other information lightbulds are clicking on EVERYWHERE!!:idea: Magnesium, for example. I need to be taking Magnesium.

Now, I'm not through the book, I'm taking it chapter by chapter, but I'm inspired. I'm inspired not only for myself, but for DH, who is perfectly healthy and not an ounce overweight. But, he does suffer from Cluster Headaches, and a new "cluster" is due to start in 2008. I'm excited to read this book and really change things we do here to get him in the best physcial shape possitble, if and when this may happen.

I'm inspired to keep reading and find a way to get past this chronic fatigue feeling. I'm inspired to not only change the way I eat, but also to change the way I live. I'm simply inspired because maybe, just maybe, I don't have to follow the path of most people and live with an unhealthy body, practicing unhealthy habits, taking unhealthy medicines,... Maybe, there really is some hope!

Have a wonderful Friday!

Wow, Kathy! That is really an inspiration. Everything you say makes perfect sense to me. How wonderful!

I finally had a good night's sleep last night. What a difference it makes in my attitude! Now if I could figure out why my morning fasting blood sugar has risen so high, I would have the world on a string. The only thing that's changed is that I've been using Isopure for breakfast shakes and it is zero carb. This has been going on for a month.

Last day of work until next year! My tree's not up yet, :peeved: but there's still tomorrow!

Hey all...
I'm here, but tired and crabby.
Didn't sleep well AGAIN last night.
We went to see a play "A Don't Hug Me Christmas Carol" last night...it was a HOOT, but it started late, and kept me up late, and with not being packed, I woke up all stressed out and couldn't go back to sleep. So I gave up, got up, finished packing, and now am at work.

My biggest issue is that we're driving to my mom's tonight, and we won't leave until late, and I'm sooooo tired. Oh well...I'll just have to have lots of coffee:eek::D:p

Good Morning all! :D

Kathy, I'm amused that just now you read all of that! LOL AND how good it is for you to discover! LOL :D How cute is THAT!

Carol? You being doing that 'carb' at night still??? Maybe that would make a difference?

AMY! Sorry your so tired and stressed! I say take a nap at work...go on...you deserve it! :D Take care, and Merry Christmas to you...oh, and drive safe!

I personally am just reveling in the fact that I have NOTHING pressing to do. Well...other then housework...but THATS so massive that well....it can wait too. :D

Missy, I don't think it's Dawn Effect, but I tried it when the numbers went higher but there was no change. It might be stress, because my sleep has been messed up, but not necessarily on the same timetable. It's a conundrum. I've gone back on the med and that hasn't made any difference either. Next stop is the doctor, I guess.

Amy, it makes me tired just to think about how tired you are! :(

I actually had to go digging for work this morning! That never happens. I found some budget forms that will need to be upgraded for next month, so I'm plodding along. Boring! Of course, I'll be ahead of the game when I come back to work in January, so I'm sure that's a good thing.

Missy, I love having you back with us. :)

Good morning,:)
no echo anymore Missy hopefully. it's 7am here, no work til Wednesday:p:D, coffee is brewing, cats are eating, kids and hubby still snoozing. So are you all ready for the holidays? I am, first time in hmmmmm 20 years, that this is happening. All I need to do is get some ingredients for my low carb cheesecake and buy some nuts to roast as a gift for someone. It's raining again and has been for a while. I got my/DH meals planned for today so we should be in good shape PP wise. Happy Friday to all!

Great post Kathy!! Just reading how you are feeling is inspiring to me !!

I also keep thinking that last year at this time I was 42 pounds heavier, feeling like crap, and sick of myself and my eating habits, which I knew was hurting my health each and every day.

I just feel so much better now--healthwise and mentally too. It makes you just want to share the news with everyone, doesn't it?

But then, I realize that not every one is ready just now. ( I am especially talking about family members that I hold dear.) I just want them to see how much better they could feel and how much better they could live but now is not the time for them. Who knows, maybe next year !! Can't give up!!

Good morning everyone!

I come into work for about 3 hours on December 24th, and then I'm off the rest of the week. So I'm going to think about tonight as being the start of my vacation, with just a three hour commitment on Monday!

My plan this weekend is to clean the house and be ready for Christmas (food etc.) so we can relax on the actual holidays.

I will post here on December 24th, although I imagine folks will be a wee bit thin on the ground. I'll be back after that on January 2nd.

I volunteered to bring the roast beast to our Christmas Eve gathering at my mother's. Now I feel that I will be okay surrounded by the traditional family goodies. I may go a step further and augment with faux cheese potatoes. The rest of the time I'll just have normal food. I've made sure I have it ready to prepare because I'm sure we'll have extra goodies given to us and I want to be able to ignore them. Not worried. NEAN is the rule of the season this year. ;)

How about you?

Tee Hee, Missy. Slow on the upstart, I am! I did read the original PP book when I started way back when, well at least skimmed it. But this was much more clear. And, I think it has something to do with what Karole wrote in one of her posts "But then, I realize that not every one is ready just now." I'm working on being ready.

And, I can count to 10! So I can manage this carb counting thing!:D

Love the question from Anette about what everyone is eating for the holdiays!

I have some control here. Parts of my family are coming on Christmas Eve. I'm making prime rib and such. My plan - make my favorite green salad, eat mostly the beef, and my sweet treat is a 1/2 cup grape salad. Christmas is going to be a fiasco! (Good thing DH doesn't read the boards!) His family is just...HIGH MAINTENANCE. Anyway, I'm bringing a crock pot of meatballs in lieu of sandwiches, then veggies and such. The AM I'm planning a brunch with my men. Should be easy enough.

Hey! Does anyone have a good suggestion for a sauce for the meatballs???

Kathy

One thing I would like to try over Christmas is making a fauxtato casserole. I'll look for a recipe or invent my own.

Wendy, if you like it cheesy, here's my cheese potato recipe and I plan to substitute cauliflower. It's at least a list of ingredients for starters, and it's SO easy!:

1/4# butter, melted
1/2 pt sour cream
1 can cream of chicken soup (I think there are lc subs in the recipe thread)
Chopped onion to taste (I saute it first)
Salt and pepper to taste
8 oz (2 cups) shredded cheese
1 bag of frozen hash browns--I don't know if one head of cauliflower will do it
For an entree dish, you can add any kind of meat that sounds good.
Mix it all up and bake in a 9X15 pan or casserole dish at 350 for around 1.5 hours.

I probably won't be near a computer until 12/26, so Merry Christmas!

Thanks for this. My DW is vegetarian, and I hate onions, so I'll play with this a bit.

Probably what I'll do is cook and mash cauliflower, mix with butter, an egg or two, some cream cheese and cheddar, and then bake. At the end of baking I might sprinkle on some additional grated cheddar. That certainly sounds like it would taste good if nothing else .

Hey all...terrrible weather woes here.

Need to get to Iowa tonight between 3-9 cause the fog lets up at 3 and the ice storm sets in at 9...:jawDrop:
The ice/snow storm will go from 9 friday to sunday night...so if we don't leave now, we may not be going at all :crybaby:.

So...I'm shutting down here at work, doing my final stuff so I can get on the road, and I'm outta here!!

Be well all, and I'll check in when/if I can.

Hi, everyone--

Wasn't able to get to my computer at all yesterday, so I didn't post. We went to our college Christmas party last night. That went well--I found some prime rib, pork loin, sausage w/peppers & onions, some Indian veggie dish that was yummy. I just had a bite each of a cabbage and pork pot sticker and a veggie quesadilla. It was empowering to pass up all of the carbage--and they have incredible desserts at this place.

Then today's challenge was my homeroom Christmas party. I packed a wrap and a diet soda so I would stay out of the pizza, chips, cookies, etc. So, after caroling, partying, and cleaning up, I'm alone in my classroom doing some planning so that I can enjoy Christmas vacation. There is a b-ball game this evening, so I brought an extra wrap.

Sounds like there are a lot of us who are PPing even on Christmas Day. More power to us! I plan to take my sausage/cabbage stuffing and faux potato casserole (my recipe's identical to yours, Carol). My SIL's even on board with it, so it's all good.

Fantastic final Friday to all!

Karole....WOW! I just wanted to CONGRATULATE you on that! WOW! WOW! WOW! That's simply terrific! I mean...think of it 42 pounds...gone. Good! I'm so darn proud of you! :D

Carol....thanks! :D I love you guys and have missed being here too. Many MANY times you all inspired and impressed me with your continued determination. Even if I was quiet as a mouse...I was still watching over you all.

I'll be back in full force...lol behaving. lol but...until then...I'm eating what I damn well WANT!:jawDrop::D

Thanks Missy, and I want to join the others in saying how glad I am that you are back posting with us. We sure missed all the smiley faces -- but most of all we missed you ! Stay with us, okay.

It is still 50 degrees here but that is going to change later today. Not looking forward to that, but many other places are already experiencing it so guess we will take our turn too. Hope Ammy didn't have a hard time driving to her folks yesterday.

 Okay, but there will come a day when what you want is the Protein Power way of eating. You have to WANT it in order to HAVE it!
