Good morning PP'ers!!! :D
It's a beautiful day here in MN.

I have no ispiration this am, just lots and lots of work to do, so thought I'd start a thread to wish you all a happy Hump-day!!
(for those of you who have never heard that, Hump-day means the middle of the week because it's all downhill from here!!)

My meals are packed and planned, most of them being protein shakes, and I plan on shopping tonight then going for a walk before bed.

Hope you all have taken a moment to plan out your day as well!

Good morning to all,:)
Seattle here, up and running, PP meals for the day planned. I am having my favorite thing, shrimp in homemade remoulade. literally no carbs and sinfully tasty.
I need to ban my scale, hide it or something because I can not let a number ruin my day and eat away on my motivation. GRRRRRR. I also need to start taking measurements instead of going by numbers. At this point weight loss is THE reason for me to do PP. I am down more or less 8 pounds in about 4 weeks but my clothes feel loser... and i even had some folks say that my derrier looks smaller. hard to believe because i am still in the 240. well, anyway. i am ready for this day and i am grateful for having found this panel to read up on and to vent. Have a great Wednesday to all! May the PROTEIN be with you!:D

Hello everybody :). It's cold and sunny again here. This morning I met up with someone that I used to work with, who was in town with his wife and 8 month old daughter doing their Christmas shopping. We spend an hour catching up on all the news before separating to shop. I bought one or two Christmas presents, and a long black cashmere coat . I have too many clothes, but not that much for formal occasions, so I picked a style that will last me forever, and even though it was expensive, it's a classic. Maybe I am finally gaining confidence that I will stay this size :).

Great news, Anette! Take the compliments. Don't forget the body can regroup before it shows up on the scale. It probably means there's a weight drop coming.

Yes, today is hump day! The main roads were dry this morning but my driveway is frozen ruts of yesterday's slush. Sounds like it might melt off a little today, though.

My inspiration is my schedule this week. So far, so good. Tonight I shop for fresh broccoli and hit the meat market for some of their excellent bacon. Tomorrow night I will put together the broccoli salad that I'll be taking to work on Friday (sans the dressing). I also have two more parties on Friday; a bottle of wine for one and some roast beef rollups for the other. Buy that all tonight, too. I might as well do enough beef rollups for Saturday's jam, too. Sunday requires a large dish of cheese potatoes. That's going to be a problem for me, but it's a family icon. I'll be doing some major psyching for that one.

Good morning to all of you.

Like Amy, my day is just packed--two program practices (could be our last if the weather is bad in the morning tomorrow), a couple of classes and then four hours at the college this evening.

My inspiration for the day is realizing I need to start packing up some too big clothes. Even my doctor noticed my skirt yesterday and said it was time to donate it. The eight pounds I lost this month will inspire me to get through Christmas as I did Thanksgiving--NEAN. Carol, I'm with you on the cheese potatoes. That is my traditional family dish, too, and it's very hard to resist. But I'm going to do it.

Anette--down eight pounds--WAY TO GO. That's exciting! I know the numbers can be flukey, but knowing your clothes feel better (until they feel ridiculously big) is also a great inspiration.

Mitra, those "classics" are worth the money! I love the feeling of timelessness.

My class is coming in shortly--must run.

Hello.

I'm struggling today. I'm VERY stressed. My kids are cage-y and cranky, and to deal with the stress I'm eating CARBS. UGH. It is like I'm a robot that can't stop what I'm doing. HELP.

I just ate a bowl of LC soup - chicken and cheddar. The kids are down for a nap. I have to regroup!

If your cheesy potatoe recipe is like mine, made with hash browns...make it with cauliflower...

It's VERY VERY yummy!!!

Regrouping is good! Way to go to realize that is what you need!

Mitra the coat sounds beautiful classic and cashmere, can't beat those two combinations! Pictures!!! We need pictures!!

Rhyme and reason nice job, having the doc say something is so cool, and yes you pack those clothes away--better yet give them away, you will not be needing them again!! :)

Carol I love the broc salad you are making, yummy! And the cheezy potatoes, oh those are killers for sure!

Ammy great idea on the cauliflower! You are well planned today!

Anette, great going!!!! It is not about weight loss, it is about gaining health, if you put that perspective on it, believe me it will serve you better and get you through the ups and downs of the scale. You can be skinny and unhealthy, so health will take you the farthest!

I am headed for Louisiana tomorrow for a business trip and then we will be gone over the weekend so I probably will not be around to post. Next week is horrid at work and then Christmas on top, yuck! So practicing what I preach, will be the way to get through it all!

Take care everyone!

(((Kathy))) Protein and water as necessary seems to be the generally suggested move when you're on the train and want to get off. It works for me! Do something that you don't usually associate with snacking.

Janet! A cashmere coat! Sounds marvellous and cozy.

Amy, that would work for me, but I'm thinking the rest of the family wouldn't buy it. I could make a dish for myself, though. Hmmm. That would spiff up the turkey and carrots that will probably be the only other food I would eat. I will be getting groceries tonight anyway. I always meant to try it! Okay!

One of the drawbacks to the holidays is the number of obligatory parties. Most of the year, it's just friends and the relatives I am comfortable with. At Christmas, it's EVERYBODY! Granted, most of the older generation, some of whom would drive me to the buffet table, are not with us any more. Also, I've grown more aware of how I react when I'm not comfortable. That helps. I'll just work on my attitude some more.

Amy--

How do you make the potato recipe with cauliflower? Fresh? Frozen? Do you cook the cauliflower first? Sounds like a plan to me!

Great idea, Carol.

Although it is a lot of fat, I think I'm going to pick up some bacon to help me through this. If I can just wean myself of all carbs for a few days I should be okay, right:o?

I don't have the exact recipe with me here at work, so I can't give you exact amounts or ingredients. I think I typically "wing it" anyway...but...

Cut the cauliflower in small pieces, as big or small as you like, but the smaller (to me) the more potato-like they look/act.
I steam it first...steam it pretty soft.
Then use it in place of potatoes in ANY recipe...

Do you need me to get the recipe to send you? We made it the other day...it's SO yummy hot! I'm not a big fan of cauliflower, so the more we warmed it up the more tired of it I got, but my GF is a HUGE fan of cauliflower, and gobbled it right up-cold, hot, fresh, leftover, she didn't care.

Kathy, that would be something that would work for me. My mantra becomes "MEAT! VEGETABLES! MEAT! VEGETABLES!" and whatever fat is associated with them is acceptable. Try crumbling the bacon into green beans. Maybe add a touch of vinegar (or not). I've got this broccoli bacon salad going this weekend. Bacon is a satisfying flavor to me. Anything that is not a meat or a vegetable is not an option. Make sure you're getting at least your minimum protein, too. More if you're hungry. You will be okay.

Also, keep posting daily. Those kids have got to sleep some time! How long it takes to get back on track probably has something to do with stress, too.

I did the bacon I had and that seemed to help. And, YES, my stress level is through the roof. We are hosting a big party here on Friday. I had to change Childcare plans in mid-stream due to my son's breathing becoming heavy again. I BEGGED my friend not to bring peanut butter balls to the party..... I have a ton to do.

Meat and Veggies.... I'm loading up at the store tonight. And, I'll keep posting! It does help.

Thank you.....:)

Where to begin.... I went to Canada - came back - life was hectic - and then yesterday - I found out I was pregnant! What's weird is on the anniversary of the death of our first child - I find out I'm pregnant! I am so excited. I had plateaued on my weight but was feeling healthy so I wasn't going to be concerned. So now I am having a PP Pregnancy. I did read a few threads regarding the topic but if anyone has any advice - i'd love to hear it.

So here's to a wonderful new chapter in my life. :-)

Thanks, Amy. I do have a recipe for the family potatoes using hash browns (I think everyone has one variation or another of it), but I'd love to see yours if you don't mind.

Carol, thanks for the reminder to think "meat and veggies." It not only helped Kathy, but me as well. I remember when I was new at this (and even after I re-started) that I often snacked on fake foods that were advertised as "sugar free" or "low carb." For me, that usually set up the "now what can I eat?" cycle. I do much better when I stick to the basics.:)

And...congratulations, Feelix!

Hi, all,

Just a quick post, then to bed.

I have been MIA since last Friday. Sinusitis and brochitis. Antibiotics and decongestants. Allergist says, "cut back on the OT at work, you are wearing yourself out". Even took a sick day off on Monday, unheard of for me.

So, I am finally feeling alittle better, today.
DH made homemade PP soup while I was in bed last weekend. I didn't feel like eating anyway.
Thank goodness for calorie free fizzy water and diet Ocean Spray Cranberry and Crangrape drinks.

Congrats, Feelix on the good news.

Will try to pop in more now I am feeling better.

Hugs,
Claudette

Feelix, congratulations!

Claudette, I hope you're feeling better soon. It sounds as if your dh is taking good care of you.

Ms GC, it's good to have you around again :).

Take care all those in the snow.

http://bestsmileys.com/magic/2.gif Feelix, I'm so happy for you!

Claudette, I hope you get better quickly! I suppose the main consolation is that you'll be able to enjoy Christmas. Of course, how the cleaning and cooking and shopping is to get done is another thought!

Kathy, you're on the right track now. BTW, if your friend brought peanut butter balls when you asked (begged?) her not to, I'd re-evaluate the friendship. You can kill somebody with peanut butter! :suspicious:
