It's 10 :09 already and no thread for the 27th?????

Drawing today...all day...But first, so it would not get squashed out of my day, was bike intervals... Then coffee and a pork chop for breakfast.

I am going to challenge eveyone to stay strong and keep it under control throughout the holiday season. We don't want to be gaining the standard 10 pounds.

Looks like just you and me, kid. I think I can get through Christmas. I just got through Thanksgiving with two dinners of turkey and vegetables. I usually have a piece of pie (or two) but I didn't even miss it. It gives me hope for passing up the traditional Christmas carbs.

I started my day with an Isopure mango shake. I've noticed that it holds me quite a bit longer than the protein powder I've been using since the beginning. Probably because it's 50 g protein instead of 25-35.

Who else is out there? :)

I'm out here!
I seem to be juggling a lot of things today, but I'm here.
I have a fun-lunch planned with friends, and I plan on going to the gym this evening.

We got out all our Christmas decorations last night. Took the old stuff we get out every year, decide we don't like, then pack up again-and put it in bags for GoodWill. Someone will enjoy those things! I'm going to take them to GoodWill TONIGHT so they can get it out on shelves for selling this holiday season!

I can't seem to figure out what we're having for supper. I know that not planning is my downfall, but I can't seem to FORM a DECISION on what we have in the house to cook! Isn't that crazy??!

That's my goal...to make this decision BEFORE I leave work for home!

Hi, got my walk in about 9 a.m. and a little housework too. So, at least I have the exercise in. I have been soooo remiss with the exercise, what with all the company and etc. Back to normal now tho.

I weighed myself to day and I am at 139 still. I had moved up a couple of pounds right after TG but it is gone now.

We are going to play golf this after noon as it is gorgeous out there and 54 degrees !! I want to get out in the good old sun for a while.

Then I have to do the shopping . ugh

Amy, BRRR! We're enjoying a bit of a warmup--welcome to my frozen bones. I would have been on earlier, but I'm still in my lazy day-off-school mode. I noticed a drop in the scales today, but I can't tell just how much. Any loss is a welcome sight, though! I do have some essays to grade, so I need to get working on that. And I have to work at the college this evening, so my hours off are dwindling away. I still have tomorrow before we go back, and then it's off to the races until Christmas break. Carol and Hawk--I'm so with you on the holiday stay-strong spirit. I LOVE having gotten through Thanksgiving with no cheats at all, and that does indeed give me hope for getting through Christmas. I do need to make a decision concerning the college Christmas party. It's a no-holds-barred affair with enough food to feed the third world and enough dessert to give the whole county diabetes. Speaking of diabetes, has anyone heard of the study mentioned on today's news that "discovered" that women who eat higher carbs are more prone to diabetes?

Well, fan mah brow!  D'ya THINK? Ruth, I'm glad it made it on the news. I'll be watching tonight, you can be sure!

On my way home. I think I'll pick up a couple of side salads at Burger King to have with dinner tonight. It's very windy here today, but I haven't looked outside to see if we had any sunshine. :o It's not that we don't have windows in the big people's rooms. I keep hinting for a skylight! :)

I haven't had time to read it yet.

Reading about that study certainly make me think of how helpless I felt at Thanksgiving, as my oldest son is now taking metformin (SP?) He said he has been diagnosed as pre diabetic . He takes his meds, then has to eat cereal , toast and etc. to bring up his blood sugar. He said he cannot lose weight since he has started the medicine, no matter how much he exercises. One day, while golfing with my dh he felt his blood sugar was way low and ate a candy bar to conteract it, then took his metformin when he got home again. He broke out in a big sweat , felt weak and icky because his sugar dropped really low again. There is something wrong with this picture. He assured me he wasn't having these crashes at home, just wasn't eating right while here, but it sure makes me worry. He needs to lose weight, the meds keep him from it and he is eating way to many carbs so it sounds like a vicious cycle that will only lead to insulin shots imho. He was actually the one who introduced me to pp and now when I see what he is doing to himself , it makes me cringe. Supposedly, if he doesn't get his carbs he crashes and feels terrible so he takes his pills, eats crap, and on and on.

Sorry, if I am ranting but it is just such a worry. He is so smart and knows better, but has bought into the "normal" diabetic lifestyle anyway.

I'm here, too...just very very busy right now. Catching up from this weekend has taken TWO days...so not fair.

Glad it's a little warmer here than 12 degrees, though... ;)

Total: 1818 IF: 21/3
Fat: 101
Carbs: 63 -32 = 31
Fiber: 32
Protein:187

A very large dinner in, a workout under way and I picked up everything to try some Christmas Pudding for the holidays. I found a local source for some of the sweeteners/sugars I use as well (Rainbow Foods).

Karole, it's hard to watch the ones we love taking life for granted and acting like lemmings. If we talk against the "mainstream" we're probably radical and definitely misguided. My mom and sister "can't" put down the sugar and flour. I'm sure I couldn't have made the progress I have without like-minded friends on this board. I have just one doctor who agrees with PP and he's not my primary.

Karole,

Seeing loved ones making choices like that is very difficult. My brother has Type II diabetes. He has already lost one foot. Since then, he's working harder at his medications and keeping his blood sugar down that way, but he's not really watching his diet as he should. He is very skeptical about the way I eat--to him, all I do is use "weird" ingredients (such as making chili with black soy beans instead of kidney beans). I understand your frustration; I just keep hoping and praying his mind will be more open to what I try to say to him.

I agree with Carol--those on the board are a huge support, and fortunately for me, my doctor is an active proponent of the low-carb lifestyle.

Hey everyone,
I am here.. after a long day, just had dinner, dishes are done. Had a great PP day and stayed on plan, day 16 now and I feel fine. I had eggs for breakfast with a little hollandaise sauce and i was not that hungry at lunch. I am getting used to planning my lunches which i take to work which really helps to not eat the cafeteria food which is normally carbs, carbs, carbs. So far, so good. Planning to have a girls night out this Saturday and I am the designated driver AGAIN... I dont mind, no need for booze for me in order to have fun.
Well, have a great night everyone and "see" you tomorrow.

Carol and Ruth, thanks for your input-- I just wish there were more doctors out there that had an open mind about the benefits of this lifestyle.

I wouldn't know what to do without this board either. I wish my son would be able to benefit from all the knowledge here.
