Here's your motivational quote for the day:

Make mistakes of ambition and not mistakes of sloth. Develop the strength to do bold things, not the strength to suffer.

Right now, I'm far from there. Mistakes of sloth, check. Mistakes of ambition, missing. Strength of suffering, check. Bold strength, AWOL. I have my streak, today is lucky 13. I'll make it. That's a start.

Today, some reflection on where I'm at, what's good, what's life and what's fixable. I cannot be as I am when I am not on the game, and that's increasingly frequent.

I will also attempt to absorb one of the central lessons of my favorite reality show: America's Next Top Model.

I think I could write a nice little "toilet" motivation book based on ANTM, and the wisdom of Tyra. Don't think, just be. When in doubt, be fierce. Cultured natural. There's a difference between this and this, and that difference sells a lot of stuff. And on and on. I wonder about copyright. I could punch it to 220 pages with a lot of pictures of models and Tyra.

Great quote. I'm off to make mistakes of ambition today. Will try to get finished and get off on time despite shortage of personnel.

Snacks, lunch, water on desk ready to go.

Day #18 for me on plan. Have my size smaller scrub top on and looking great.
This afternoon, the gym again with cardio & weights.

Will check in later, but plan on a "yes" day.

Misakes of what?? and what?? No sloth.. I was brutal yesterday and purged stuff. It is all in the kitchen waithing to go into boxes to be donated or burned ot whatever. My studio is awesome now.

I was poked and prodded yesterday and nothing was found except sharp pain. I go onto the next tests as soon as they can be set up.This time when something is found, instead of a needle biopsy, I am having it removed.

My Gyno added a 8oz can of V8 or similar to my diet to stave off alzhiemers. She also gave me a list of vitamins to take . I am already taking them. She is 60 and looks like a model. (body of a 20 year old) Great health...Someone you feel you can listen to. She does "Body for life." and follows a lo carb diet.

Great quote, Max. And I love the Tyra book idea. If you're serious, you should do a short proposal and get it to her company, Bankable productions. Up until this season, ANTM has been a favorite show. But it feels like she's phoning it in lately. That began last season. With her talk show and the Top Model franchise, she's spread too thin and it's beginning to show. She's hardly in Top Model at all anymore. What I loved about the first few seasons was her passion for the girls and the process. Not so apparent anymore. For my reality show money, Project Runway has taken the number one spot. But I do love Trya.

As for mistakes of sloth vs ambition... go for the ambition every time. Unless it's Sunday morning and the choice is between three papers to read over French roast, or sorting work papers to get a jump on the week. Then I argue for the read fest. It seems like sloth, but is arguably ambition of a different sort. Or so tell myself. ;-)

Blue
who is already mentally preparing to make a slothful choice this Sunday morning and dress it up as ambition.

Hawk: from taubes book, my understanding is that low carb, in and of itself, should be protective against Alzheimers. The mechanism is the AGE (can't remember what it stands for... ah,, Advanced Glycation End product, what happens when you burn sugar for energy). Possible explanation. Not saying the V8 is a bad idea, but with paleo diet, you should be okay.

Reminds me of what Jerry Seinfeld said on Oprah recently (not a direct quote): Complaining is FUN. I agree with that. :D Sometimes I get all serious and noble and tell myself I am giving it up....but it never lasts. Good thing I've also learned to be grateful a lot of the time; keeps the universe in balance.

I'm not really a "challenge" type person, but I want to share so I'm poking in on this thread, if that's okay.

I got contacts on Monday. Mono-vision where one eye is for reading and the other for distance. I LOVE them....except (complaining now), I put them on right after my shower in the mornings, before I get lotion on my hands and so I can see to put on make-up. Well, I must say that it's been quite a shock looking in the mirror this week. I did NOT know I had so many wrinkles and potholes. I felt better about myself when I couldn't see too well. But at least now everyone else looks wrinkled too!!

We're having a company lunch today - probably Johnny Corino's. Haven't been there much and don't know the menu, but worst case I figure I can get salad. I haven't been too concerned with eating any veggies since reading GCBC, but they do taste good every now and then. ;)

College football news: Another one bites the dust.....USF lost to Rutgers last night, hence they will drop out of the #2 spot, and hopefully LSU will move back up to #3. **Crossing my fingers**

I must say I'm enjoying college football's weirdness this year. AND, the ROCKIES rock. Denver has gone berserck as well they should. Lots of fun.

;) Yup, sometimes it's better to see "through a glass darkly". My big transition was marred by huge bags under my eyes that jump out at me every time I see my reflection!.

My caract eye is now 20/20 because of the implanted lens. My other very nearsighted eye is wearing a contact to make it 20/20. I have to have reading glasses with me at all times. :peeved: The best part is that I no longer have my coke-bottle glasses that distorted every angle except straight ahead. I can take sidelong glances and actually see something!

Good day today, but my brain hurts from trying to organize a budget revision. My brain is not as spry as it used to be. Every time I think I'm done I think of another factor I didn't consider.

Sometimes I sit down with a book or at the computer at home without having all my housework done. Is that sloth? :o I've always been that way. It makes the break sweeter. Sometimes all ambition gets me is an unfinished project! :D

Carol congrats on the EYE!! how cool for you!!!

Thanks Max.. I think you are right. I was thinking,,, with all the salads I eat with my meat and all the vegetables I stuff into them.. isn't that the same or better because they are fresh?? If I did not eat them ..then maybe that would be a good idea.

Tonight we are playing a benefit for Adult mentally and physically handicapped. We play for free. It is black tie and the "clients" come all gussied up with hair done and nails. They are adorable. They dance like there is no tomorrow. THere are many important people from our town who buy tickets for the dinner and dance and show up to support them. It is one of my favorite evenings. I love to run sound and watch them all dance. It ends up being a late night by the time we pack up all the equipment. We will set up around 3pm...soon. These kinds of things make life so much fun.

On track with eating but a very busy day here. Had my blood work done and will get the results in 2 weeks. I'll be gone until Sunday.

Make mistakes of ambition and not mistakes of sloth.

We use a saying here not quite the same but relates to getting things done in a timely manner ...

"It's easier to ask forgiveness than it is to get permission." Grace Hopper

It works 90% of the time but that 10% is a real kicker! The problem is that in government, permission is alway too late so you try not to leave a trail.

Randy, I agree with the government being too slow, it is always best not to leave a trail, I agree.

Hawk, why the V8 or equilivent? What does she think it has versus plan old veggies?
If I had a gyno like that, I would listen, also.

Hang in there, Hawk.

Today is a yes! Schoolwork is done--the weekend's mine! Well, there is the house to make presentable, groceries to buy, and food to cook for next week.

Have a wonderful weekend, all. Hawk, you're still in my thoughts and prayers.

I was a YES for Friday!

I had had a super busy, super stressed week at work and wanted to have a pity party. Instead of my usual pity party, though, I decided on a plan of action, and followed through, and everything was 'ON PLAN'.

Came home, told dh he was cooking me dinner, then we would watch a movie (preferably sappy), while he rubbed my back. :D

He cooked - made "UNTIDY JOSEPHS". perfect
We watch In Her Shoes - funny and sappy - fit the bill perfectly:D

Much better than my usual version of a pity party:D

I had rkp or rpk (can't seem to ever remember) laser surgery done 9 1/2 years ago. Used my annuity money to pay for it and it was some of the BEST money I have ever spent. My opthamologist under-corrected one eye slightly and over corrected the other slightly and it has worked out so well. I still do not need reading glasses - although statistically wise I should have at least 5 years ago. I do sometimes need a little assistance with teeny tiny fine print if I'm not in natural sunlight - I have a magnifying glass or a pair of drugstore "1"s for then.
What a relief to have the weight of those glasses off my nose and ears. And I can see in the RAIN:D.

Carol - it is not sloth to sit down at a computer or with a book instead of housework. I tell my dh it is mental health work. If I do not have some quiet, relaxing, ME time I will not be able to function properly.

Great, Agnes. I'll quote you when I need to. Nobody's going to argue with me improving my mental health!
What a relief to have the weight of those glasses off my nose and ears. And I can see in the RAIN:D.
 No more spattered glasses to clean. I'm also looking forward to not having glasses to fog up when I come in from the cold in the winter.

A YES for Friday!
