There, Agnes, now the week has changed just to keep you on your toes :D!

Yesterday and today were both M&S days - and tomorrow will be too ;).

Anyone else moving it along with me and Agnes :)???

HI, goes to try to Move and shake again since most of the moving is over.

Monday: Oct 8th
abd toning, upper body weights, 5 min on trampoline. (just started out again, I can really tell I haven't exercised in a while.)

I'm trying yet again to get my exercise act together. We had gotten pretty good about taking long walks, but life got in the way again last week and it isn't looking promising for this week so far. So I'm going to get the Leslie Sansone dvd out when I get off the computer and do the 2 mile walk.

Wow, Claudette and Bonnie, it's great to have the two of you join us :D!!! Congratulations to both of you for getting started again!!!

Got my moving and shaking in today.

Now Agnes, where are YOU ????

I'm here, Shadow, although I had to search extra hard to find the posts:tongue:

haven't done all my M & S, although I got some in - walking, stairs, and many trips to the bathroom:rolleyes: "unretaining" water.

Didn't do my new dvd's yet. But I will:D

Agnes - Glad you finally made it today :D! And before you ask, NO - searching extra hard for posts does NOT count as exercise !!!!

Anniesnan

It doesn't???
but my hand is still cramped from on-line Sudoku (thanks RAndy)
and ...:D

we went walking - nice pace. Cool temps today, finally:D

Agnes - Sometimes I get so tense when I'm frustrated over a Sudoku that it almost could be counted as exercise !

Today is a planned day off from exercise but a lot of moving going on. Already did the weekly shopping, took my car to get new tires and walked home, walked to work - and have a lot more walking to get in until it's all said and done today !

Anniesnan
10-10-2007, 11:38 AM
you sure did get a lot of moving in there.

I did the stairs twice - two floors two steps at a time:D

parked my car further than I usually did and had to walk, too.

I think after our walk and dinner, I'm going to get dh to do an exercise dvd with me:razz:

Agnes - Sounds like you're getting a lot of moving in too !!!

I did get a lot of moving in :D
My calves are "tight" right now.

Dh's left foot is bothering him, so no dvd tonight:(

Walking today felt like such a struggle for both of us today. But we did it anyway:D

well, I got up early, but decided instead of M & S I'd make a crustless quiche for breakfast.

Treat for myself and I know I'll get M & S done later:D

I wanna play!! Friday is my last day of work :D. So, can I start Monday with M&S? I need an accountability group.

New to pp, this is my 4th day, still getting accustomed to changes. Haven't managed to get carbs down to 40 yet, but I get closer each day. I am an admitted carboholic. :( Breakfast is my big problem. I can't do dairy, unless it's yogurt (which I can't have - don't like plain  Eggs I like, but not every day!

Anyway, back to M&S - - I used to walk, so that is my goal, startign walking again and work to getting in 3-5 miles a day 6-days a week. With other things thrown in sporatically, maybe some water aerobics at the Y.

Nice to meet you all and hope to join you Monday.

I'm reporting in for last night. I did 50 minutes at a 2.7 pace on the treadmill. That translated to 2-1/4 miles.

Agnes - Yeah for you and DH both ! Sorry about DH's foot - hope it is feeling better today!

Mimi - Welcome to our playground :D! As for the carb addiction - I think that's how all of us ended up here so you're certainly not alone ;). For breakfast you may want to scope out the kitchen forum - you're not alone in not wanting eggs every day :).

Bonnie - Great job!!!!

M&S done for today. Now I just have my lunchtime walk to finish - and if I'm gonna get any lunch, it's gotta get done so you can count it as a 'yes'!

Mimi - the more the merrier - we'll get this joint hopping:D

I love eggs, could have them every day, but did have some initial resistance to breadless eggs. Now, it's second nature:D

did my stairs (in heels (2") and my spot routine, walking to go:D.

The no-bread thing with the eggs is what I don't like. :P If I can have my biscuit I'm good.:o So, you're saying you got used to it - - maybe I will. Here's hopin'. I'll check out the breakfast board.

Thanks for the welcome, I'll check in tomorrow even though I can't work out yet.

I did too, Mimi!
It is possible!

My GF doesn't understand it, but it IS possible to eat eggs without bread. I do admit though that I dip sausages in the yolk if the eggs are soft, otherwise I choose medium hard or scrambled eggs...

Amy and Mimi,
when I have "soft" fried eggs, I usually have a sausage along with my bacon, just to have something to "dip":D.

I have scrambled omelettes. I can't get the egg thing to work for a regular omelette, so I saute my ingredients and then scramble the eggs in that;). Or hard fried, or hard boiled or a QUICHE like I made today (and had for breakfast and lunch).

Mimi - I am another who has adjusted to breadless eggs :). Like Agnes and Amy, if I'm going for dippy eggs, I have sausage or ham or something to dip in them. I rarely eat omelettes (because of oxidized cholesterol) so dippy is the way I go. I do sometimes cook them harder so I don't have to figure out what to use as a dipper, though ;). But if you carmelize cauliflower, it almosts tastes like hash browns to have with them. I haven't done that in a long time because it takes too long for an impatient person like me .

I've never considered myself someone who exercises. However, about 20 years ago I discovered weight lifting and found it was something I liked to do and have more-or-less stuck with it ever since. Now I'm 66 years old and live in Florida where I see a LOT of elderly people who shuffle around, complain about their aches, and make a career of going to the doctor.

It has occurred to me that I HAVE to make exercise my main priority if I don't want to end up like those I see. Exercise has to come first. Because of this way of thinking I'm working hard to walk for 30 minutes 4-5 days a week and lift weights twice a week. I need to work in ways to work on balance and flexibility.

Shadow -

the oxidized cholesterol was something I agonized over when I first did PP. I tried to mostly hard fry or hard boil. But, I really love eggs and love breakfast and don't like "liquid" meals or ...
my cholesterol has been fine, I figure cutting out all the trans-fats and taking CoQ10 makes up for the days I scramble my eggs.
Lesser of two evils, kind of thing.

Good for you, Annie! I think for people who don't exercise routinely, the difficulty moving sneaks up on you quickly.
My M-i-l (who is a couple of years older than you) has difficulty walking and moving and standing. This woman could have run a marathon in her 40s and early 50s. But, she stopped moving as much and it's hitting her hard the last few years.

What the heck is oxidized cholesterol and why do Omelettes cause it..:confused::confused:

So do you run cauliflower through a machine that will grind it like hashbrowns then cook the heck out of it?? Do you cook it in oil? Butter? Do you steam the cauliflower first so you don't have to fry it so long?? This sounds YUMMY!

Bonnie

The cauliflower sounds great!

I did the Leslie Sansone 1 mile walk last night. It wasn't much but was better than doing nothing. It had been a tough day and what I really wanted to do was put my feet up and veg.

Annie - Good decision :D! And welcome to our happy little group :). And I know what you mean - even though I understand the extreme importance of flexibility and balance to overall fitness, I find it hard to get it done too....

Mimi - I do the same thing w/ mayo ;). I figure if that's my only transfat, then I'm still much better off than when everything I ate had transfats in them! If I remember correctly, if you cook the eggs on low heat, there is less damage done to the fats so... Me, I'm too impatient to cook anything on low but it's worth a shot if you can do it.

Amy - Now you're straining my brain . Guess I'll consider it my mental challenge for the day. First of all, oxidized cholesterol... I believe the Eadeses referred to that in PP or PPLP. Anyway, it was something about the fats in yolks being damaged by cooking them. Second, the cauliflower... as I recall, I minced it up really fine and sauteed it in olive/coconut oil until it was all brown and crispy. I just sauteed it but truth be told, it would go faster (and take less oil) if you lightly steamed it first. The smaller you get it, the more carmalization you get on each piece. If I were to do it now, I would roast the cauliflower then mince it up and saute it until I got it as carmalized as possible. I also noticed that if I minced up some cabbage and added it to the cauliflower that it tasted like hash browns with onions :). However, here I must insert a disclaimer... after 6 years on LC, I might very well have forgotten what they tasted like so it might just have been me. But now I think I'm gonna have to try it again and see how good my memory is!

Okay - M&S done for the day which completes my week. Hopefully tomorrow's activity will involve mowing, raking and cutting back my flower beds. If not, there's always housework to keep me moving ....

I moved, I shaked, I ache:D:D

got in some resistance by moving furniture - picking it up and carrying it (between 5 and 25 lb pieces).
Then I walked.

Now I ache - but it's a good ache.

Bonnie

I walked a lot yesterday, but it was browsing and shopping walk. Probably got a mile to a mile and a half walking to and from the bus.

I also treadled a spinning wheel for almost 2 hours, but that's not really exercise. I did exercise a lot of restraint and bought very little at Stitches.

Bonnie - LOL, exercising a lot of restraint:D:D

I did several vigorous rounds of the Hokey Pokey, walked with dh at the park, some cleaning, grocery shopping, etc.

I'm done for the day:D

Shadow
10-14-2007, 07:41 AM
Agnes -! I didn't know anyone actually did the Hokey Pokey anymore! Way to go on that M&S'ing!

Bonnie - :D! Congratulations even if that's not the type of resistance exercise we usually refer to !

Saturday was a rest day from exercise, but I got in 3 hours of yard work so I think my activity level for the day was pretty good - and that doesn't even include the housework I got done ;).
