Good Morning!

I thought I'd start. I woke up thinking. Thinking of how I got to where I am at (in every area of my life). Life Happened to me and I let it out of survival. Now, I don't have to let it happen to me, I can choose it. So Today I commit to choosing my day. From the food choices to what I read or watch on TV to the conversations I have with my Husband. I get to choose how I respond to life.

What are you going to choose today?

Good morning as well. I was on target yesterday on all fronts and found that I had discovered the key to simplify shopping. Leave your wallet at home! I had a lovely 20 mile round trip and will do my shopping today. Hopefully I will remember my wallet this time.

I know what you are talking about Feelix. In a recovery class I facilitate I teach people to be proactive instead of reactive. So many people are always responding to what happens to them instead of living. They make bad choices and then blame others for the way their life is. They don't have a sense of empowerment. They don't take charge. Then they feel helpless and the spiral happens. Their attitude about what happens to them is what makes their life good or bad. Two people can have the same experience in life and totally different attitudes about it

That is why pre planning is so important and thinking things out. If I do this....what will happen? If I don't do this...what will happen. WHAT do I want to happen?? How can I go in the direction I want to go in? Each day is a step in the direction you are taking. Each day is your life in miniature.
Worrying, being depressed, blaming others, will not change your life. YOU decide today what your life will be.

LIVE! Go out and DO your life!

You are SO on target!!!

My dad had a stroke at age 65. He was paralyzed on his right side. Today he walks. He is still paralyzed on his right side. In rehab, they brought other patients into his rehab session to watch his motivation to try and inspire them. The other patients were not trying because they were depressed and angry at their circumstances. My father did not waste time with that, He immediately began to work very hard to walk, talk and take care of himself. He also smiled and made sure that he showed appreciation for anything anyone did for him.He is amazing. The others probably stayed in a nursing home helpless. My dad is 73 today. He is very strict purist PP.

Sarah - Great start to the day! Thank you :).

Today I chose to have another 'yes' day ! Exercise done, meals planned, most of my water consumed, mind already challenged (although a bit too much this morning  ) - it's a great day :D.

Hawk, with that story it's apparant where you got YOUR strength! Wonderful!

Shadow, way to PLAN for a good day!

Beney, did you atleast enjoy the drive??:o

Feelix, I'm choosing to gain more knowledge today. I got out my PP book and read about maintenance. I'm trying to figure out what my new limits should be. I've been here (in maintenance) before, but would just eat what I wanted and gain-then have to eat less to re-lose it. Now I want to eat with regularity so I'm not constantly gaining/losing extreme amounts (15lbs!). I don't mind a 5lb range, and I think that is normal, but if I regulate my eating, I won't have those extreme jumps!

Good morning all,

Would someone again remind me that most of the time I love my job. We're having day 2 of problems with new software on the public computers.

Today is the 40th birthday for our telephone reference service. We have answered over 6 million questions. There is a party at lunch time but I came prepared. Since most of the food would not be conducive to low carb eating I brought a shake for myself and brought cheese to share.

Feelix ...
I like the line you used "Life Happened to me and I let it ..."

About 20 years ago I just let it take me almost anywhere it wanted to go., which most often was to sweet foods.

I'm definitely on top of it now, holding the rudder and heading for new adventures. I still have many of the same appetites, food and otherwise but they are sharper and more refined. Although the smell of fresh donuts or bread still evokes a yearning, it comes with the knowledge of the associated cost.
Yesterday I had a can of Tuna right out of the can and the enjoyment was knowing that I needed it from the volleyball earlier but also in savoring the taste and knowing the benefits.

On track today with Beach Volleyball at lunch and a long walk with my wife this evening. I will pick up a salmon on the way home and do it on the BBQ.

LOL--simplify by leaving the money at home. Oh, I can so relate.
And I relate to the software issues, too...I've spent the morning trying to get my UAT team back on track to resume testing. The software test bed was down all the time I was gone for an upgrade, and while the cat was away, the mice all played. So now the test bed is up and I have to get everyone to put on their testing hats again.

I simplified today by making a double shake at breakfast, and splitting it into a small container for my afternoon snack. Which reminds me--one of the easiest ways to simplify the whole counting/measuring issue, for me, is to have at hand known portion size containers in which to put servings for lunch. I don't bother measuring because I know that the containers I use are all 1/2 cup, 1 cup, 2 cups, etc. I also buy frozen fish (usually tilapia, sometimes salmon or orange roughy) in individually frozen portions that are generally around 25g protein. Again, no need to think--just grab and go. If I need to boost the protein in a serving, I melt a slice of cheese on top for an extra 7g protein. I know sometimes buying portion sized things is not the least expensive, or the greenest method, but it IS a painless way of keeping myself on track. And if you invest in your own reuseable portion sized containers, you can follow through with the same methods with your own soups, stews, chilis, casseroles, etc.

Party on, challengers! So far, it's a 'yes' day...

Hawk that's awesome about your dad. Mine suffered for 10 years before he died......all because he smoked for 50 years. He was tough as nails though (played football for LSU (WE'RE #ONE!!)) and didn't complain hardly at all in all that time. Wish I'd gotten that from him....

Feelix I totally agree! We all choose our day one way or the other.....I choose a great one today.

I got some Fage yogurt this weekend and tried some last night for the first time. Well let me just say I'm never going back to the other kinds!! It's very high in fat, has half the carbs of regular plain yogurt, and has the most amazing creamy taste. I brought some to work today. I mix my whey protein powder in it and some fruit. I'm getting some pumpkin soon to mix in it cause I LOVE pumpkin too. It'll be like having pumpkin pie.

My sister had back surgery yesterday. She had a crushed disk and has been on pain meds forever. I wanna be positive about the outcome, but you always hear stories.....Hopefully if she believes it will help, then it will.

Afternoon, all!

Breakfast down, did my stairs and some spot exercises already.

Lunch - left over chef's salad - one of those satisfied, full, stuffed times.

I have not finished the salad, I am definitely satisfied, on the way to full, and could finish it and make stuffed.
It's all good stuff in it - roast beef, turkey, ham, swiss cheese, raw broccoli, cauliflower, 1/8 of a cucumber, mixed lettuces - but I am NOT finishing it.

I just put it down for the dog. He will pick out the protein and leave ALL the carbs:D.

Happy Noon Time.

I had to stop to tell you of the most delicious home grown tomato I just ate. For 6 Carbs - it was amazing!!!!

If you all have the luxury of taking some time this week or weekend and going to the farmers market - Do it! The rewards in flavor (and nutritional value) are well worth the effort!

Hey, all you go-getters! Isn't it fun to start another challenge? :)

Today was a much better start than yesterday. DS fixed my car problem, but left the gas tank on EMPTY, which I noticed, luckily. I was only ten minutes late for work. I DID remember my lunch today, so I'm well fed.

Max, I hope you're better today...

Hawk, I love your dad, and your story tells me where you get your spirit!

Gaelen, it is certainly nice to see you in the challenge thread!

I am checking in from the consumption ward. I was feeling better. Then I went to work to file my time card (if I didn't, I wouldn't get paid this period, and rent is due and all). Really fell apart on the way home.

The kitties are being good. The big one even got out of my side of the bed without struggle. That's his side when no one is home. He slept on wife's side. The kitten slept by my feet. I think she spends the day sleeping in the closet. Both are being very nice.

Any rate, am on plan for the day. Going to eat something protein now.

My hips hurt. They are sore all over. Especially the left one (the one that always gets sore when I do heavy lifts with it). But both, and larger than the usual, "You worked me" sore. Ugh.

I've done a couple of Sudoku. I'm counting going into work and walking around the building to turn in my time card as physical activity. I don't know that I could muster much more.

It's nice to sleep with kitties...My dog snuggles against my hip and if my husband tries to move him, he growls.( more of a complaining growl..)It cracks me up...Little bitty hot dog dog.. vs.. big man...

We have three cats, and they sleep at our sides and where our legs go, so typically my GF and I end up sleeping stacked up in the very middle of the bed cause our VERY FAT cats take up the rest of the space on our Queen bed...

Hey, wanted y'all to know that I didn't go to the dr today...PERFECT example of what I need to talk to them about.
I had a new employee starting on Tuesday...so Monday while driving to work (20 minutes) I told myself over and over again to prepare for his first day. I had on my calendar that he was starting later in the month, but I while I was walking by the boss a couple weeks ago I was told there was a change and he would be starting on the 2nd. I didn't remember long enough to get back to my desk and change the 'reminder' on my calendar.
Anyway, I thought of NOTHING else but preparing for his first day for the entire drive to work.
Then I got to work and COMPLETELY forgot. All morning I talked to you guys about going to the dr and not ONCE did I remember about the new employee. I forgot until I was leaving work and a co-worker asked when the new guy was starting. Then it all came flooding back...
The new guy started at 7:45am and my appt was for 8am...so I had to reschedule.

How bad is that??!!:eek::(:confused::peeved:

I'm going in next week - I definitely have to say something to her, this is rediculous!

Hi, y'all,

Hawk, what a wonderful story about your Dad. I can almost tell when I am teaching patients ostomy/or wound care who will do well, who won't by the way they respond to the teaching. I try to get them to empower themselves so they can get on with their lives.

Max, get to feeling better.

Today, another day on my plan.

Have everything planned for dinner tonight, but before that, it is off to the grocery store. 1st time in the new little town, so I will get to see what they have.

Great idea, reuseable containers in 1/2 c. sizes, etc. Great time saver.

Well, got to go.

I'll take a yes for today.
Plenty of protein, stayed under my carb limit despite a Mexican meal since the rest of the day was sparse (no tortillas, but a taste of the beans and the rice), drank my gallon of water. It was easy because the Mexican meal left me thirsty! Walked early and it was a good thing because I had the aches last night--weather related. Stretches but I forgot the hand weights so I'll make them up this weekend. Remind me, Amy! (:D)

It was pretty embarrassing Carol...

I'm a no...but we found a wonderful chinese restaurant :nod::eek::paranoid::o.

Also, I completely skipped EVERY FORM of exercise yesterday. It's SO RARE for me to be busy at work...but I was, then I had my volunteer thing after work, then went straight to bed. We've been storing the 5# weights on the bed so we remember to do our lifts before bed, but they were not there so I completely forgot...MAN, can I have a brain transplant??

At least a memory chip installed???
