Welcome to Friday. TGIF? I dunno. If weekends are harder for you, maybe you're not so grateful. Course, on the weekends I don't have to commute, I don't have to sit around inventing work stuff to do, etc. But, it's definitely harder to maintain. But this weekend, I will do it. And not how I usually do, with random meals, some with 30g of carbs, then another with as close to zero as can be mustered. I'm gonna do it right. At least 3 distinct meals. No more than 15g carb per meal. It's gonna be good.

I might look into the purchase of a hitaway and the world's cheapest baseball bat, and see about taking 100-500 swings on Sat/Sunday. I might not (depends on how cheap the world's cheapest adult sized bat is).

Last thing: A news item from the world of science. Scientists at the University of North Carolina determined that men need 50% more choline (a B vitamin) than current advice on the matter (no report where I'm reading if they looked at women's needs, but I will look into it). The things that mark choline deficiency? muscle breakdown and liver damage, or at least blood markers indicating such. The good news? How can you get your 850 mg? Two whole eggs. Apparently the yolks are loaded, the best source available. The close number two? Bacon!

Why do I report this? Because, well, what can you eat on LC that the health establishment tells you won't help your health at all? Well, a lot of things, but Egg Yolks and Bacon are generally high on the list.

I love this stuff. So much, I have a bonus one:

White Wine and carbs: Some Australian scientists went and studied the glycemic response of people eating a high carb meal with various adult beverages (water was used as a control). White wine was found to "significantly reduce the glycemic index of the meal. (by 37%)" The working theory of why is that white wine is highly acidic (vs. beer, gin and water, the other beverages studied). Now, I'm not saying you should go out and carb binge, but maybe a little white wine doesn't hurt, regardless of carb
count. Full of goodness, possibly not heavy in carbs, and well, it can sometimes be the extra touch that makes the meal go from good to great. Use wisely.

Rock on.

Morning everyone!

another day off - love bureaucracy in NYC:D

It just worked out perfectly for us with ds's wedding tomorrow:D:D.

I'll be doing some major cleaning today, and some chore running ...
when I get off here I must make a list.

Then, I'll pack my "bag". For ds#1's wedding, someone needed an aspirin/tylenol/pain killer and I realized I had NONE. I've been carrying them daily for 37 years due to very bad teeth and chronic daily headaches. Since starting PP in 2000, I haven't had the chronic daily headache and my teeth problems have been better since I became an adult and regularly go to the dentist, but I still carried several otc pain remedies with me wherever I go "just in case". Well, in all the hubbub of getting ready, and not having room in evening bag for my "medium sized jar" (usually if we go out, I put 5 or so in a baggie but didn't 'cos I wanted extra in case anyone needed something) I neglected to put the jar in my "extra shoes, extra stockings, extra tissue" bag.

I haven't had breakfast yet, just got up and am enjoying my coffee.
We have a lot of lettuce, so I think I'll make a huge salad with grilled chicken breast for lunch. Make some room in the fridge for the carbage we picked up or will pick up for ds's groomsmen.

Max,

after reading about the white wine, maybe I'll have some of that tomorrow:D.

You're doing a great job keeping me motivated! Thank you!

Good morning...
Typically I'm not very excited about weekends when I have to think about food...however!
It's cold here, so we've been thawing a turkey breast and I found a recipe on-line for lc turkey sage stuffing. We're planning a VERY nice Sunday dinner and that makes me happy! Saturday we're pretty busy, and when we're busy I don't tend to sit around thinking about all the foods I want but can't/shouldn't have.

My boredom/dte (desire to eat) was soooo bad yesterday that I calculated what 90% of 29 days of this month was so I could see how many days I can blow it and still get the cd...
Isn't that sad??

Instead, I went home a bit early from work, made some instant LC potatoes, had some chicken, ate a SF pudding cup (they have a new flavor, caramel on top of vanilla...not bad, not good, did the trick) and went to bed early.
I have discovered that when I eat the things like the LC potatoes (ordered from www.netrition.com (http://www.netrition.com)) then can make me bloat a bit...glad they are now gone.

Holy MOLY!
I just read a "health" article that actually made some SENSE!!

That was a good article Ammy, thanks for the link.

Washing clothes today and getting ready for cooler weather. We will be going to the Oct. trail rides before to long and I don't want to wait until the last moment to drag that stuff out of the plastic tubs they are stored in. Plus I put most of the summer stuff away, not all of it tho, I don't trust the weather that much.

Week ends are no harder than week days since I don't work much. I am a sub for Head Start and unless something out of the ordinary happens, I very seldom work 2 days in a row. Just something to do every once in a while. So what I have to get though all of the days is just "routine". I guess that is why you folks that work find week ends a little challenging-- it is out of your normal routine.

Anniesnan, have a great time at the wedding. Enjoy and relax and be sure and tell us all about it when you get back. By the way, you have been doing great on the challenge. Way to go.

thanks!
I seem to finally be in the right mind set. Whether it was picking the right extra in Max's challenge (planning) or sitting down to really think about what I was doing wrong that needed changing or the "immediate" goal of the wedding and looking "tighter" in my dress? it all seems to be falling in place.

I even think having to eat out so many nights in the last couple of weeks helped, 'cos the first couple I knew I couldn't go off plan, 'cos it'd be that much harder to stay on the other nights.

Later!

Yesterday was a resounding YES. The doc(Stephani) padded my foot to take the pressure off the nerves and the 3 shots will happen Monday. Three nerves are involved. She spent almost and hour assessing my foot.

I am running sound at another doctor friends house for their daughters wedding Saturday. My Anethesiologist (Mr.) and my Gynecologist(Mrs),they turned their backyard into a series of huge koi ponds and wooden bridges, fountains, water falls fish. Those fish don't know how good they have it. My husband said. "wow, I could move in here and you would never notice ." Mr Doc said..go ahead, theres more than enough room.

Landscaping..maybe $100,000.00 Incredible...just for their daughters wedding. I was offered any food (cook out) or exotic wine I wanted while I was assessing the needs for the sound system. WOW. I turned down the homemade pumpkin pie from my Gyno, which got a frown. I mentioned the challenge I was doing and it turned to a smile.I ate a hamberger patty wrapped in lettuce, plain. I'm easy.I drank water. If the red wine would have been shiraz, I may have had some..but it was semi sweet. My husband is running sound with me. (he had the pie..hee hee) We are also invited to the wedding. WOW I am taking my camera when we set up in the morning and taking pictures. It is breath taking. There is a an 8 ft in diameter fire circle surrounded and made by flag stone on an amazing 50X 100 irregular shaped flag stone patio. The fire is gas and turns on from inside the house. The ledge around the fire pit is large enough to sit on.Outdoor Furniture everywhere. In ground swimming pool, tennis ct.It was like a fairy tail. They have spent all summer working on this. The nicest most giving people you would want to know. Probably every doctor in town will be there. I am running sound for the music before the wedding and the wedding itself. It will be one of the most beautiful weddings I have ever seen.
We were there for superbowl sunday . They have a home theatre. We watched the game on a whole wall.

Today will be a yes. After turning down home made pumkin pie, you think I could eat anything lesser???

I'll have to think about it:D

home made pumpkin pie, I might not have been able to refuse that:evil:

I am beginning to feel overwhelmed and out of sorts - which is why I'm on here;)

did some chores, did, I think, ALL my errands. Still haven't figured out how everyone is getting to the church and then from the reception back home - not completely. DD needs to be at future d-i-l's house, all the guys here, how will my sis who doesn't drive, etc., etc..

Hmmm, maybe dd can travel with the guys in the limo??? save me an hour's trip ... I just realized my ds's future b-i-l won't be coming all the way here, just to go all the way back ... I'll ask her, then ask ds, who can ask df :D
If only my sister drove, but too late to change that.

In the meantime, washer and dryer on, some more cleaning to go. I DO NOT want to be doing ANY cleaning or laundry tomorrow:D

Today is a YES day for me. No workout but I am 1 workout ahead and will have one tomorrow.
Caff-Lib with cream and Splenda, Caeser Salad for lunch with a chicken breast (no croutons) at our work lunch, and dinner will be 10 oz. flank steak over a Romaine salad and a few protein cookies and another hot drink playing cards later.

Total: 1461
Fat: 82
Carbs: 27 - 5 = 22 ECC
Fiber: 5
Protein: 152

Met with the boss this morning and laid out a worksheet to show how I would work out my extra leave to replace my time on the canoe trip (5 hours this Sunday, 2 Saturdays and two late nights between now and Christmas). I'll definitely keep tighter track next year.:o

Anniesan,
A cup of mashed pumpkin, baked, with some sweetener and whipped cream comes out to just over 10 ECC so you just might fit it in.:D

I love pumpkin and there are many good LC pumpkin recipes: pumpkin sausage soup, and pumpkin cheesecake come to mind.

Good news about the white wine, what about red???

Inlaws are arriving tonight. I'm baking regular choc chip cookies tonight for them and my DH and DS. DH won't ask me to make them any more cause he knows how hard it is for me not to eat them, but I offered. I've been good for a week so I'm feeling in control and not craving carbs any more. It's just that first bite that will get me.....so I'm gonna be strong.

I'm making crab and shrimp au gratin tomorrow night - low carb made with cream :D. FIL and MIL will probably freak over the fat content.....and no point in trying to convince them otherwise. FIL just got diagnosed with Alzheimers which makes me sad....he's not bad yet but does forget a lot of things.

I think I've maxed out on magnesium recently......had the 'runs' for 2 days now so I'm cutting back on the calc/magn supplements til things get back to normal. Not sure if I'm just stressed though about the house guests.

Hope you all have a GREAT "YES" weekend!!!

((((Anniesnan)))) hang in there girl. Only one more day. I should be talking-- I'd be up the walls too !!

My dh says I am a worrywart, but I call it "planning ahead"-- just like you are doing--getting all the rides ironed out so your sister won't have to hitch hike.

Speaking of wines, I am with Hawk-- I like Shiraz a lot. I used to drink Merlot, but after I found the Shiraz I switched. Haven't had white wine in such a long time, I don't know what I like anymore.

So far so good on everything, but I am due for a snack and think I will fix dh and I a choc. protein shake. I think all this talk about pumpkin has made me hungry. Don't have any pumpkin a the moment so will go for the chocolate.

yes today . For some reason it was tough. I felt like scarfing anything I ate without tasting it. I have some chicken legs in the fridge. They are my safety net for today.

Anniesan,

thanks, Ottawa - I'll have to keep that in mind when I see pumpkins:D

I tried baking pumpkin pie from scratch, once ...
had no one to ever show me how to bake
it tasted delicious, but the texture was way off - I used the "gooey" parts:eek:

I'm 14/30 so far:D

DD came home from her classes and wanted pizza. Not what I was planning, but I ate the cheese, NO CRUST:D

Now I'm convinced I can do this!

Took a nice long soak, will relax the rest of the night and see you all probably on Sunday. Doubt I will have time tomorrow, unless very early.

I'm planning an off day tomorrow, but it won't start until I hit the reception, anyway. I'll eat on plan breakfast and lunch, still:D

Yes for the day please. I really got the calories in but stayed within my carb range.

I walked this morning, plus went up and down the basement stairs several times to get more summer clothes put away. Then I carried stuff out to the camper and did some heavy duty cleaning in the laundry room so I did get my exercise in today.

Okay, I'll take a YES for today, Max. Heightened by the fact that I stopped an impulse to eat a goodie from the pantry just because I was alone in the house. Amazing that I still get that impulse. Nobody to see, so go ahead and have one.

I didn't get any significant stretches done and certainly nothing more energetic because of this code id by head. I slept for three hours when I got home from work, which is why I'm still up at 2 a.m.

I rescheduled the photo shoot I had set for tomorrow, so that's taken a lot of the pressure off. Three senior boys, head and shoulder shots for the yearbook. We'll do it next week when the weather's supposed to be better anyway. I like to work in the afternoon with the light coming in the west windows. Too many clouds=no light.

Amy, that was a great article, thank you! Let me know if you get any results from adjusting your workout.

Amy, Agnes, and everyone who was talking about binge venues yesterday, here's the limerick that I heard long ago:

"There once was a woman named Maude,
Who's beam was exceedingly broad.
To eat at the table, she barely was able,
But out in the kitchen, my gawd!"
