I was supplementing with Magnesium (magnesium oxide), but it gave me diarrhea. What is the best chelating agent for better Magnesium absorption? Which one do the Eades recommend? Any experiences?
Thanks

pretty much "not oxide" or "oxide & something else" will be fine. .
*people say* glycinate is easy on the stomach
different compositions will weigh out differently and will take more or less bulk, so you really need to read the labels to make sure you know how many tablets of what size you need to get the amount of Mg that you are shooting for and then divide your dose through the day.

A very interesting book on the subject is The Magnesium Miracle by Carolyn Dean, MD, ND. (Ok, I usually run from any title with "miracle" in it, but this is nevertheless a well-referenced book.) Chapter 18 discusses the forms of magnesium supplementation and their various, quite interesting benefits it seems, beyond "good absorption" and bad absorption."
In my own case, I've been using magnesium chloride, magnesium taurate, and/or topical magnesium oil. Here's a link that gives a bit of insight into her thinking on the subject:

Thanks for that article Bangs. I've requested the book from my library. I take magnesium supplements and I like the added benefit of softer stools. I just hope I'm absorbing enough. I may try the oil after I've read the book. I want DH to start taking it but I cannot convince him he needs ANY supplements....

we know that old fashioned epsom salt soaks will provide magnesium uptake through the skin - I had not heard of magnesium oil before but it would make some sense

Oh cool! I used to soak in epsom salts once or twice a week but haven't in awhile. I think I'll start back up.
