I started a thread yesterday in which I invited people to talk about their own experiences of their higher power, however defined with respect to supporting their way of eating. I asked about what was sought, methods (including things like yoga and meditation and prayer) and so forth. I was explicit that while I was a (liberal) Christian, I was interested in people of all faiths including people whose higher power was other than one based in a traditional religion.
The thread is missing. I'm not sure if it has been deleted or blocked or put in a holding cell or what. I received no private message or e-mail about it.
I assume that I would be free to start a thread on yoga, or meditation, so I assume (perhaps wrongly) that it is the reference to a higher power (or perhaps prayer) that is setting someone off.
Can someone explain this please?
Is it the policy of this board that we cannot speak of elements of faith which support us as we engage in this WOE, even if done in a fashion which respects all beliefs (including your inner self as your higher power)?
In a previous discussion (through Private Messages) about another thread started by another member, I was told that the board existed to provide information about the Protein Power nutritional program (I am recalling this, I didn't save the messages so this is not exact). I expressed my belief that for most people, 90% of the support they needed was psychological or internal - it was the struggle to do, not the struggle to understand what to do. I further expressed that for many people, I believed faith, broadly defined, was a part of how they engaged in that struggle. I was informed that was not the purpose of the board (to support people in their psychological struggle). I can't understand this, as the challenge section and many others exist to support people in this way.
If the true intent of this board is to provide nutritional information only, then how can all the psychological support threads be justified?
If psychological support threads are justified, why is it not permissible to have one thread that speaks to the issue of faith, provided it is open to all, and makes no claims of superiority of one faith over another (or over no faith)? It was clearly labelled, and those who did not wish to view it could easily skip it.
