Have any of you ever had your uric acid level checked since you have been doing the PP WOL? If so, was it out of range?

Hammer

Ah, yes...uric acid is one of those things they have had to check intermittently for the last 2 years (I've been on chemo). Mine is perfectly normal.

My husband's Uric Acid was elevated about 3 months after starting this WOE but was normal when rechecked a few months later. Since it'd never been checked before, it's hard to say if it'd been elevated before, and was returning to normal, or if it was just transiently elevated.

I've only had mine checked once, about 6 monts after starting PP, and it was right in the middle of the "normal" range.

I have both Blood and Urine checked twice a year due to recurring kidney stones which I've had since my teens and way prior to this WoE. My water intake used to be much less as well.

Initially with going PP, both blood and urine went slightly more acidic until I began including more whole foods, balancing meals with fruits and veggies, and getting my water level up. Prior to rounding out the meals my blood pH was slightly more acidic (lower pH) and I was shown how this relates to kidney stone formation (more acidic leaches calcium from the bones leaving residual bone detritus which is what forms most Calcium/Oxylate stones). When I eat more fruits and veggies it is closer to neutral and does not take much in the way of leafy greens to balance things out.
Chemstiks are a handy tool for a quick check on Urine, and you can have them prescribed if you give your MD the reason. As well they show Protein, sugar, Leaukocites(sp?) , keytones, and so on all in one stick.
