What's on your plate this week?
Keep yourself accountable, share your menu ideas, ask for feedback...
Here's ME again!
Sorry I was so remiss over the weekend. I was at my sister's house and on Friday she spilled coffee all over her keyboard, so only about three keys worked :suspicious: !
I stayed within my plan limits, but reduced to one shake and two meals - being VERY careful with the meals. That is what the TSF book said to do when necessary...so I did. I DO What I'm told, just ask my mom  !!
7/30/07
7:30 coffee shake
10:00 creamsicle shake
11:00 workout
12:30 3 brats, 3/4c steamed beets, 1c celery,
5:00 creamsicle shake, 1.5oz almonds (if needed)
8:00 shake (if needed)
I feel like my food is too close together...but we'll see how the day goes...

Choosing food you could list with those three letters might have been an interesting challenge. You could have stumbled on the next great diet fashion .
you're right...cause it was a O I and a U!!

found it thatnks for the direction! can you explain to me how you make your creamsicle shakes and stuff?
i have a vanilla one for lunch with a boiled egg does that sound ok??
The receipe for my creamsicle shake is in red under the "thin so fast (http://www.proteinpower.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3092&highlight=thin+fast)" thread. I got the recipe from the TSF book. There is an entire menu section and one of them contains all kinds of shakes...I just wanted something I didn't need a blender for-so I use the TSF recipe.

Hi everyone,
For Tuesday, July 31,
B: mixed berries and cottage cheese
L: lc frozen dinner with added chicken
D: warm beef tips salad
I was at a cottage Fri-Mon inclusive and did a fairly good job with food, considering that it wasn't my cottage. My in-laws (Friday and part of Sat) are basically vegan so I ended up eating a protein bar for breakfast, but I brought them so I was prepared. Back in the regular swing today.

Does this sound like a reasonable day?
Breakfast:
Pizza Quiche (eggs, cream, cheese, turkey pepperoni)
Lunch:
chicken, low carb tortilla, blue cheese dressing
Snack:
2 Tbs sunflower seeds (measured still in hull)
Dinner:
low carb frozen dinner w/ added chicken
Dessert:
"cheesecake" (cream cheese, cream, splenda)
At the end of the day, FitDay gives me:
Protein: 113g (30%), Fat: 105g (63%) Carbs: 24g (6%) Calories: 1542

Serene,
I would say a few things looking at this menu.
1. Good job on the protein. You have real protein with every meal.
2. Be careful when using low-carb frozen dinners. I use them every day (and like you, I add chicken, because they only have about 2 oz), but you need to read labels. If you are doing that (sounds like you are, because you are using Fitday), I think this can be a really easy way to have a meal. Most include some vegetables which is good.
3. I notice that, except for the low-carb frozen dinner, you don't have much in the way of vegetables and fruit. How about replacing the low carb tortilla with a salad at lunch? Or including some vegetables in the quiche (peppers, mushrooms and tomatoes might fit with the pizza theme)? Or just a bowl of berries for dessert instead of the cheesecake? All ideas to consider for two reasons. First, eating a diet of mostly dairy, eggs and meat is more boring than if fruits and veggies are included. Second, there are a lot of necessary vitamins and minerals loaded into fruits and veggies.
4. You are doing well with carbs, but don't say if that is a total carb count (i.e. including fiber) or an effective carbohydrate count (excluding fiber). Most people do well with 25-30 ecc per day so if 24 is your total count, you can probably increase your carbs a little (i.e. add fruit and veggies, not sugar or starch).
I second what Wendy said!! :D

Amy, how are you feeling on the shakes? Satiated? Energetic? Are you doing this to break a stall or because you are looking to eat this way long-term? If for the long-term, is it just a matter of convenience or something else? Is it meeting your goals?
I'm being a bit nosy just because I think it is interesting, and I wonder about doing something like that when I stall (which is inevitable) just to see if it might shake things up (literally).
Wednesday: (repeat of Tuesday):
breakfast: berries and cottage cheese
lunch: lc frozen dinner with extra chicken
dinner: either a beef tips salad or hot dogs with tomatoes
I will walk the dog tonight so I will have achieved 4 days which include some activity for the week. And then my dog walks on Thursday and Friday will be extras!
I am definitely in a stall, so yes...
I am also a food addict, and work better with repeating meals instead of having options. I know people speak of getting bored or going crazy when eating the same foods over and over again, but I tend to work better when I don't have to let my mind wander down the path of...what should I eat today?? I have ONE meal I have to think through...that part of TSF is REALLY working.
Most of the time I feel satisfied...but I find that I sip them for a LONG time...like an hour, so it's sometimes like I'm being introveineously fed throughout the day. I've been working on drinking them quicker, and therefore closer together so I can get in my four shakes.
Convience is not a strong enough word. I have a cup, a straw, a mini mixer thingy, my container of shake mix, and a can of soda. I'm not only thrilled with the convience, I'm saving a TON in grocery bills...
I had set a goal of doing it for 10 weeks. IF I lost the MINIMUM, then I'd be down 20lbs. My untimate goal is 27. If I don't start losing though I'm not sure I will last the 10 weeks...my MINIMUM trial period is THREE weeks. I'm finishing week 2 tomorrow. Down 1.5 total as of today.
And please, be as nosy as you like...doesn't bother me at all.
I think that when the plan was originally put together, going LC was not something people did, so when he designed the shake mix, it's was LOWER carb than most people were eating, but not "lc". The four shakes alone would have had 48carbs, then a person eats a meal with it...therefore exceeding what the Eades recommend at this point.
Now since I have lost all my previous weight eating LC, I thought a shake thing would get me back on track and take away my food options that seem to make me want to binge out on stuff I shouldn't have...like muffins and scones!! This is working...the DESIRE to eat that stuff has been significantly decreased, but I just am not dropping weight...yet...

I hear you!
I read something once about the amount of mental energy people put into food and found that really resonated with me. I was living to eat, so I would anticipate food a lot and plan and think of what I would make, and look through recipe books and try new things. A lot of what works for me is making the whole thing a no-brainer - no or minimal decisions. That's part of why I'm asking the questions - because the shake thing appeals to me.
Right now, I don't decide on breakfast or lunch (I eat the same thing every weekday). And I don't keep much around for dinner, so for example the choices today are pretty much beef tips salad or hot dogs and tomatoes, because that's all there is. It doesn't bother me in the slightest. When I first did protein power, I ate a shake for breakfast everyday, and for lunch I ate 150 g lunch meat (ham, turkey, chicken etc.) plus a 10 ecc yogurt. I love minimizing the time I think about food, and I sometimes wonder if this board isn't a little counterproductive for me, but I'm going to keep at it for now at least.
Yep, I hear ya...
I didn't really struggle with breakfast, and I think I MISS breakfast...but lunch was always a horrible struggle, and supper only gets worse. I think supper is so bad because my partner eats low FAT and loads on the carbs, so we struggle eating together, but we WANT to eat together!
I like when I eat my one meal at lunch...I feel good about it, but lately I end up eating a meal for supper as well, because my partner wants me to "join" her. When that happens, I eat the meal instead of the shakes, am very mindful of my carbs, but still I haven't worked out all the timing yet...
Ideally, I'd like to have a meal for breakfast and lunch, and a shake for supper...take food out of the equation during the time I can find myself munching...and munching......and munching.........and munching.........well, you get the picture.

Didn't have a good day yesterday with food. Was supposed to eat a warm beef tips salad for dinner. Didn't happen. Was so hot and tired after walking the dog and the thought of salad was blah... so I ate yogurt with berries and protein powder. That didn't satisfy me so I ate an Atkins bar while driving to the baseball game, which isn't the best for me. (I know that, and I should use them only in emergencies, but then I am hungry and lazy and it seems easy). Then it was $2 concession day at the game so I ate a hot dog (no bun). It's unfortunate that I didn't know ahead of time because I would have skipped the Atkins bar if I knew the hot dog was going to be affordable.
Anyway, another day:
Breakfast: berries and cottage cheese
Lunch: lc frozen dinner with extra chicken
Dinner: it is 25 cent hot dog night (small dogs, but still) at the ballpark, so I'll probably eat about 6 hot dogs! :slywink:

Hi, y'all,
I so resonate with the too many food options; that always gets me into trouble. I, too, do better with the same old recipes where I don't have to think. As long as I add some kind of fiber to my shakes, they will stay with me and I also, tend to drink them slowly while at my desk in the am before starting out the day.
Yesterday: 1Aug07:
whey protein shake w/ lc milk, tea, toast, lc
oz gruyere, few cherries
frozen dinner, weight watchers, 9 carbs, tossed green salad w/ lc dressing
Relative in the hospital, didn't eat from 1ish untill 7pm; next time will bring a snack. Other family talked me into a Mexican Resturant near the hospital.
two enchaladas, few tortilla chips, lots of salsa, skipped the rice/beans.
C 40 P 80
Today:2Aug07:
whey shake w/ water, fiber, 1/3c. scant, cooked old fashioned oatmeal w/ spices, splenda
PLANNED:
oz gruere, few raw cherries
atkins canned shake, leftover Mexican food taco sans shell (too soggy, thank heavens), lc yogurt
peanut butter ball, Choubear's recipe (she used to be a frequent poster on the board)
Probably:smoked sausage, tossed green salad w/ lc dressing, sf jello
So glad we have a weekly place to post our menus......
My menu is kinda screwed up with the bridge collapse/traffic, and my flat tire...
8am 1/4 rotissarie chicken, 2 pc lc cake (4ecc each)
11am creamsicle shake
2pm peach-n-cream shake
5pm steak, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber

Morning all. New to PP but not to LC eating. would like to jot down my menus to get any feed back. Still need to get one of Eades' books to get all the info I need. Have gotten hook reading his blogs and liked what he has to say. Have learned much.
Yesterday
10 am - sausage patty and 2 fried eggs
mid-afternoon - diet coke w/fresh lime juice
5:30 pm - hamburger w/cheddar, broccoli, yogurtw/walnuts and berries
I'm learning to eat only when hungry which often turns out to be twice a day. Works for me. A big change from "grazing" all day long. My life style is not very active....I'm in the senior years.
Just ate a couple of HB eggs, tho' not particularly hungry, but am leaving soon for Bible study with "goodie day" to follow. Don't plan to partake...not even any of the key lime bars I'm taking.
Welcome Alex!!
One of the things PP works on is regulating your blood sugar so there are no HIGHS and LOWS...
so after you read the book, you may want to have something in the middle of the day - even if it's pure protein (like the HB eggs).
Just my opinion...
8/3/07
7:30 coffee shake
11:00 creamsicle
1:30 peach-n-cream shake salami and cheese
4:15 creamsicle (possibly add almonds)
7:00 at party - cheese, possibly gazpacho, veggies
8/4/07
8:30 5 bites of egg white/cheese/bacos coffee shake
10am 1.5oz raw almonds
12:30 5oz steak, small cucumber, 1c steamed green beans
4:00 Popcorn?? (I might just do this...measure out 3cups so I don't overdo it)
7:00 Grilled chicken, lettuce, tomatos
8/5/07
Still just me???
8am coffee shake
10am 2 eggs fried with butter and cheese on top
12p creamsicle shake
3p creamsicle shake
6p Roman Chicken (peppers, mushrooms, zucchini in tomato sauce with chicken on top)
7:30 Sugar Free popsicle (no carbs)

Hi, y'all,
Yesterday was off plan, due to no planning and getting too hungry. Back on plan today.
Our son brought by some homemade goodies from the pastry chef in the bakery he works in; while I appreciate the thought, I boxed up most of them to give away.:suspicious:
Alex, welcome. We will try to assist you any way we can.
I am still cleaning, sorting, packing and getting ready to hopefully move the end of this month, so I will just pop in now and then untill the move is done.
5Aug Sunday:
1. lc chocolate milk w/ fibersmart, small bite of the cupcake my son brought, starbuck' double shot, light
Planned:
2. shrimp, steamed over dreamfield's pasta w/ lc sauce, tossed green salad, lime juice for dressing
3. oz. cheese, few raw cherries
4. boar's head deli chicken, cheese on lc bread, raw veggies, sf pudding
5. glass of lc milk before bed.
