Will there ever be a “right” time to make a change? Are there any changes you’ve been thinking about making?

There may never be a right time a perfect time but if we wait for that time to come, we are just making excuses not to get with it. At least that is my story.
I have always thought a busy person tends to get more done than someone who isn't. It is the same way with this program, getting busy about it gets more accompished.
Have my gym clothes ready, lunch is packed and up and ready to start the day, Will check in later everyone!!! Have a great day!

Morning Carol... and all to follow!
I had my free day yesterday. Can't believe my "baby" is now a teenager. Feeling the expected side effects this morning, compounded by clogged sinuses - been sneezing like crazy all morning.
Running late - think that's normal for me - but have my on plan snack and lunch already packed and am drinking my shake as I type.
DD2 has her library shift this afternoon, 1st one for the summer, so have to work that into my routine for the next couple of months.
Changes I've been wanting to make? Well am working towards that with the exercise - making it a habit, preferably one done early in the morning (didn't get that done today - so have to work it in later :().
Now I need to scoot!
Think Happy Thoughts Today!

You snuck in on me again Billie. ;) We must be on the schedule, though I guess you're an hour "earlier" than me.
I agree with this completely! I was always the type, back in school, that did better under pressure. I did better on papers that I had less than a week to write than those I had two or three weeks to work on. I think, too, that if I have a lot of free time it's easier to say "I have time, I can put this off" then it never seems to get done. If I'm feeling busy, then it's "I better do this now or it won't get done" and so it gets done.
Really gotta go now! Just had to reply to that cuz it's so true!

Hello everyone,
Had a nice week end. My BBQ on friday went well. It was LC but for the dessert and I dig into it (ice cream is my favourite). But was LC all the rest of the week end even for Father'Day. Mind you, the dessert a rasperry mousse is not my favourite at all so I choose cheese .
Max saw your photos. loved them. Next time you should come and visit France :) I never went to Florence but know Venice well et like the town.
Claudette, one question ? aren't watermelon LC , I thought it was ?
Billie glad for that your garage sale went well.
Missy hope today is News day......
Mitra, thanks for the translation. I did not guess it.
Now I am going to read all the week end post I did not read yet. Have all a very nice monday. Speak to you tomorrow. :)

Will there ever be a “right” time to make a change? Are there any changes you’ve been thinking about making?
Two answers: There's never a GOOD time to make a change. But it's always the right time to make a change. I'm working on getting around to flossing regularly. Tonight, I will floss.
I have always thought a busy person tends to get more done than someone who isn't. It is the same way with this program, getting busy about it gets more accompished.
The organized person beats both. It's no good to just be busy. If you can be busy towards a goal, you'll make history.

My DW (dear wife) thanks you (re: pictures). France is HIGH on the list. It's a question of where to go, what to see. Paris is a must, if not for the history then at least for the Louvre. DW didn't take all that art history not to see the biggie. But after that, it's a mess of priorities. I want to drive all over and spend a day each in a bunch of wine regions. DW wants the Riviera. Probably need three vacations just to do everything we want to do en France.
Question: I am curious what a BBQ in France looks like. I am assuming your family is not American Ex-Pats. What are the food offerings? Is it a multi-course kind of affair? Just curious. Heard a great tale of grilled escargot that some guy searched all over France for and wound up driving 400km on his "rest day" of travel writing for them. I am assuming this is a regional thing, special occasion at that. But am curious what goes on a French BBQ.

Wow, all that response, and not much about my day:
Today: I have worked out. Still hot.
I will eat five meals (two shakes).
I will floss before bed tonight. This will become a 3*a week habit by the end of the month, if not more.
I will get some productive work done today.
I will finish reading the manuscript I have been reading.
I will pay all my bills.
And I will rock like a rockstar. There's no better time to rock out than now.

I need to keep copies of all these quotes. This one has been particularly relevant for me with exercise. As my back doesn't always cooperate with my exercise plans, it's been important that I maintain the habit, and do what I can. That has two benefits - it keeps a certain level of fitness going, and means that when I'm able to do more, I don't have to rebuild the habit from scratch.
Today's been on plan food-wise so far, and I've done some exercise. I haven't written any of the food down yet, though - I'll go off and do that before I forget what I've eaten.
Hey all, thought I'd pop in and say hi!
The Quote today
Do what you can, with what you have, where you are._~ Theodore Roosevelt was just so PERFECT...
That is how I have been living my life the last week. I was so overwhelmed with work, volunteering, work, new friends, work, etc that I just lost it...I'm still looking for "it". I think I'm getting closer  !
I have not been counting carbs, but I have not had an appetite, for carbs OR protein, and part of my "stress" was around food and eating. I KNOW what I should/shouldn't eat, and if I trust my instincts I stay in maintenance, and that is where I am comfortable for the time being!
Mitra, wishing you strength for your back!!
Max, flossing...hm...sure doesn't take much time, but so EASY to forget!
Josiane...I'd LOVE to visit France! I took French in High School, but the whole class cheated :suspicious: so very few of us actually LEARNED French!
Becca, you always sound so busy - It's thrilling to see you've learned to stay on-plan during your crazy days!!
You're right, Billie, getting busy with it just helps us get it done!
Carol...there are changes I'm thinking about, and working on! I'm not going to worry about the results, just wait for them to happen!!
Hope everyone enjoys their day!!
Good Morning,
Thanks for the quote, Carol. That fits perfect for me right now.
The family is all getting over colds, mine being the worse. But, feeling better I started the day with a walk. Then I took the boys out to the back yard and we did lunges, wind sprints, and crunches/back extensions on a big ball. Now, the boys didn't do much but run back and forth as I worked, but they loved every minute of it.
The article Hawk posted and the one I found on the recommended website has be thinking about what it will really take to change. The one article said that a lasting diet will be one that I can follow for the rest of my life. So, I'm searching. Can I do this for the rest of my life? I think my Dad has pressured me into the "must do Atkins induction for months" philosophy, and I don't think so. I simply can't eat wheat or flour, but I need to figure out what I can do for the rest of my life.
I am trying to do what I can, with what I have, where I'm at. Even a little bit helps.
Eggs and Canadian bacon for breakfast. It's a start!
Have a good day everyone.
Karole

Carol, I like the quote for today too. Stress free way to live in the present.
It is starting out here with a gentle sprinkle of rain. I was out walking earlier and it started then. Actually felt pretty good on my face. I hope it will eventually turn into a nice rain shower.
No plans for the day except more laundry (will it never end) and house work.
So will get to it now, and check back in later to read some posts from those of you that are actually doing something of interest.

Happy Monday, Shadow. That Nike quote was among the ones I was looking up!
Karole, I never thought of it that way, but living in the present does disconnect the stress cords, doesn't it? :)
Hi, Kathy. I think it's fine to get advice from other people, but in the end make your own decisions. I'll bet you've learned enough here to go your own way. There's so much to choose from! I'm sure your dad means well, and it certainly wouldn't hurt you, in the physical sense.
Amy, I'm really glad to hear that tone in your voice. :D We all deal with the stress in our own way. I hope you find the spark you're looking for! For me, acting "as if" can make it happen.

What I want to change is.....
My exercise to daily to become 2nd nature.
I missed it this am, but I am going to do a aerobic tape tonight.
Ammy, love the T. Roosevelt quote. So true.
Josiane, watermelon is LC, unless you have too much, as I did yesterday.:(
Today, I am on plan, so today is a definite yes.

Good afternoon everyone! Checking in for a bit, then I have to deal with my desk and give up my computer to the girls so they can have some fun!
I picked up a DVD at the library with exercises using the stability ball. Need to watch it once or twice first to get a feel for it, then see if it's something I can do once in a while (and renew for a few weeks).
Nearly time for another snack too, and this is the one where I tend to get "stuck" nothing really here to have unless I do a repeat of something I've already had today or else have bacon and eggs. Will see what I'm up to when I get up from the desk. ;)
Amy, I gotta say, it's rough staying on plan during crazy days. Well during the day is fine, dinner frequently becomes off plan. So easy to give in to something carby (a la fries ;) ) when I've had days like that. Happened a BUNCH last month, which is why I'm back in the challenge this month. :D
Starting to think, too, that my free days need to be less "free". I tend to go hog-wild and feel miserable. Instead I should just eat what looks good and have my treat (in yesterday's case b-day cake and ice cream) and not deliberately have meals that are off-plan just cuz it's my free day. It's a learning process... and I'm learning. ;)
Kathy I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. Must be doing LOTS better to do all that you did this morning.
Shadow, as always it's good to see you. I'm still working on my project, haven't forgotten or anything. ;)
Congrats to you Missy! I posted more in your journal, but didn't want folks to think I was ignoring you. ;)
Now to go through all the papers and mail! Where does it all come from?

Becca, you are inspiring because you are always looking for a better way. You never just quit!
Hooray for you too, Mitra, in a calmer sort of way! :D
I saw the doctor for a muscle treatment followed up by accupuncture on my knee. He is pleased that the painful area is narrowing down, but honestly it wasn't an easy day to walk. I did do a 1/5 mile hallwalk earlier today, just to try to loosen it up a bit. Sitting in an office chair all day isn't the best, I'm sure.
We're looking for some rain tonight. We surely need it! Right now it's windy and cooler; about 85F. Tomorrow the high will be 78 and much more comfortable! Can't wait!

Got my totals for today and it is a yes day.
Protein 131 Ecc 28
Walked briskly 30 min. and ate fish for lunch and took fish oil besides.
Missy- yahoo-de-doo for you. So very glad for you. I know the waiting to hear from them must have been terribly frustrating. But I noticed all those yes days even tho you were under that extra stress. Good on you for that positivity.

Thanks you guys! :D
Yep Karole...I'm quite determined to keep myself focused and keep my eye on the goal so I can keep on having a stack of Yes's! :D I figured MY LESSON (BECCA) was that I was messing with the plan TOO MUCH when I'd go 'off' and for me, losing weight is SO preciously painful to achieve, that it's just as painful to REACHIEVE...darn it all....so, I'm going to stop my behavior.
I don't want excuses to fall off the wagon. I'm sure I won't be perfect, but if I can help myself I'm hoping to do as best as I can.
I know ONE day this coming weekend (birthday picnic) in which I won't have a lot of control over the menu...and goodies to avoid...that, quite frankly has me concerned. But, I hope I'll get through it unscathed. I hope.
Thanks for all your well wishes, and hand holding as I whinned! lol Sorry about that. I'm such a baby! :o :D
YES for me today!

lol...thanks Carol...("our BABY") LOL...that made me laugh out loud!!!! lol :o
You know..I know I must be doing this 'plan' seriously if I begin to 'worry' over such things in advance...like knowing I was going to face down that dessert fathers day...and worrying about this up coming party...and worrying about it for DAYS ahead of time!  It's REALLY not worth all that concern...but, I guess, for me, if I DON'T fret about it, well, then I'm heading into it with the "oh, well, who cares" attitude and when I do that...I indulge! ..and then pay. I really don't want to mess up this streak...so I guess I need to talk it out loud about it to you guys. I'm just going to have to do what I know works..and take along "safety foods"..and be done with it!
If I could take along something refreshing...say, like a bowl of muskmelon and cantaloupe for something sweet...and over indulge in THAT...maybe, even if I can't take a YES for the day, I know my indulgence won't be that severe.
Hummmm...gonna have to think this one out. I'd take along one of my 'pies'...but, I ran out of the specialty flour....:o and it won't get here in time, I imagine. Maybe though...I think I'll go order me some.
Just talking out loud! lol

Becca, you are inspiring because you are always looking for a better way. You never just quit!
Me? Inspiring? wow! :o Never thought of myself that way before. Thanks! :D
I hope your treatment on your knee does some good. Mine makes some strange noises at times, but at least I can manage to walk pain free.
And boy did I walk tonight! Was only 16 minutes, but felt like it should've been longer based on how far we went. I was really pushing it, even did some "power walking" in there, and of course there's some hills. I was definitely feeling it when we got home!
My MIL called this evening to ask what night would be better for a family BBQ (guess my FIL wants to play with his new grill he got yesterday ;) ). So probably Friday night for that. Always fun for me going to the "fat is bad" household to eat. I'm reasonably certain there will be chicken (as opposed to red meat) on the grill and salad, not sure what else. Just HAVE to remember to take my own dressing as all of theirs is fat-free. :( I may take some of my Lindt too in case I need to cover myself on the dessert front!
I'm "short" on protein again for today. At snack time I passed on a shake as it was too much (that's meal sized not snack sized) and had a couple of ounces of cheese instead. Well I didn't take into account that the ham we had for dinner doesn't have the same protein/ounce as typical meat (15 grams in 4 ounces! ). And in order to get enough protein from that I'd kill my carbs (and leave everyone else hungry too).
Guess I've babbled enough... time for numbers and bed. I changed my clock to 30 minutes earlier (and I had already moved it earlier at the beginning of the month) to attempt to get my morning exercise in so MUST go to bed on time!
Protein: 128 grams - qualified yes
ECCs: 28 grams - yes
Water: 126 ounces - yes
Supplements: AMP+ almonds - yes
Exercise: 16 minutes BRISK walk - yes
See ya tomorrow!

It was a good LC day for me with plenty of proteins and salads. Drank my water and even did my exercice , swimming in the morning + a long brisk walk with DH at night. so it's a yes day for me
Max, I am french but have been living a few years in south africa and in australia so I don't know if my BBQ will be a typical french one, mind you I would think it's the same. It's not a mutli-courses . It's just meat or fish (we do have a lot of BBQ fish) , salads (pasta salad, rice salad, tomato ....) and BBQ potatos. The only difference with me is that I marinate all my meat, fish in different way like chicken breast in coconut milk + curry + lemon and spices or olive oil + garlic + provence herbs and so on.
For the grilled "escargot" your friend should have come in my garden :D as it is "bio" it's the meeting place of the snails of the area:D and every morning DH and I are snails hunting ; no no we do not eat them :) just hunt them so they don't eat our plants .
As for France, your are right Paris is a must but not only for the Louvre for area like the Marais. And right again you should hire a car and go around there is so much to see. Of course the riviera where I live is beautifull to see to.

I've tried to live by that Teddy Roosevelt qote my whole life.
I've gotten better at it as I've gotten older by being more organized and goal driven.
Still short on time. All day long seminar. Bad way to start a Monday. Few good choices at lunch, so I made the best of a bad situation and ate almost nothing. Had a mild caffeine deprived headache and snapped at a very startled colleague. Even after I immediately apologized, he's barely talking to me. I want to say "oh, well", but obviously it's still bothering me.
Back on track today:D .
Hard boiled eggs boiling:D .

Missy when I ordered my Carbquik from Netrition.com my order came within 2-3 days. I was amazed at their speed. Hopefully yours will get there -- or how do you feel about cheese cake with a nut crust. (or possibly your strawberry pie with a nut crust??)
When we have our family get togethers everyone brings something and I generally take a lc dish like broccoli / bacon salad or coleslaw, deviled eggs or garlic green beans and I always take a lc dessert like cheese cake, sf jello with strawberries and whipped cream, or cantaloupe. I have plenty to eat and don't have to overindulge in anything. I make sure they leave off the the bbq sauce on my chunk of meat --well they already know that by now anyway.:D :D
(Just throwing these ideas out with the chance that it may help you )

Karole...After I posted, I went and ordered those things..and I agree, they seem FAST! They are telling me one to two business days and I should get it! That will be, hopefully, in enough time. I MIGHT be able to squeeze on of my pies out of the remaining ingredients I have....(maybe)..but if not, I think I could substitute. I hope so anyways. My thinking is definitely the pie..and the fresh melon..and I'm sure someone will bring along a veggie and protein will certainly be made. So, I hope to be good.
The rest of the weekend is just our normal fare..and I'm in charge of that...so no biggie.
