I wake each morning with the thrill of expectation and the joy of being truly alive. And I’m thankful for this day. ~Angela L. Wozniak
Nice concept, but I can’t say I do, especially when the alarm clock wakes me up! I hit the snooze three times this morning. However, I’m going to try to enjoy the scenery more on the drive to and from work and try to live in the present. How do you feel when you wake up in the morning? Do you have a plan for breakfast? Do you have PP friendly food in the house?

Morning Carol!
I didn't want to get up this morning either. Had a hard time getting to sleep last night, even with all the drugs. :( At least my headache appears to be gone.
Breakfast, for me, is simple as I generally have a protein shake. Sometimes on Saturdays I'll do scrambled eggs and bacon. And so that those bacon and eggs mornings go smoother, when I purchase bacon (usually at Sam's) I take one or two of the 1# packs and divide them up into strips of 4. I put 4 strips into sandwich size ziplock bags and then the whole lot into a freezer bag that I keep in my inside freezer. If I want bacon, I get out one of the small bags, defrost for a minute or two in the microwave and use my microwave bacon rack to cook them!
I have to pick up my girls this afternoon. I may take today off from exercise, will see how things pan out. Definitely not doing anything this morning though.
Off to make my breakfast and get my meals for work packed up!

I am a lucky girl in a way, I don't need an arlarm clock in the morning but that's because, since ages now, I woke up every hour of the night. It does not worry me anymore.
Each day, I am up at 6.45 am and do a little bit of swimming (we have an indoor swimmingpool) et a little bit of stationary bike, not enough I suppose:lol:
Breakfast is as Becca's , a protein shake and in the house, I try to keep all my food PP friendly so I don't get tempted too much but I don't have any kids anymore at home .... and my husband has to be careful on his cholesterol and sugar levels. He had an heart operation 2 years ago and now he has to check his levels every 6 months.
Hawk, I cooked your dessert at lunch time, I will give you news tomorrow but it's already look very nice:)
Nice PP day to all of you

Good Morning! :D Yes Carol, I have a plan, and my house is PP sticker friendly. :D
My day today, I think, is going to be straightening up the house. As...it NEEDS IT! lol
Plus I need to gather up my 'samples' of my work to take should EVER I get that call for the interview....:suspicious: :paranoid: :o :D I don't LIKE to wait. lol :o
It's been a beautiful cool coupla days! I love that! Perfect weather in my book!

Morning all. It's my last day before starting back.
Got on the scale, and registered a 210. I think that's maybe the same as before I left, maybe half or one pound up. I don't remember. I was expecting something more in the 215-220 range, but was disappointed (pleasantly).
Any rate, for the research today, I read in Men's Health about working my hormones for a fuller life. They have a schedule and advice on how to work it, so this seems like something workable. I already do a lot of it. The quick breakdown is like this:
1- 6:00 AM wake up, eat some protein with complex carbs (I say, skip the carbs, but their example is cottage cheese with berries {good} and two scrambled eggs in a whole wheat pita {less good}). This gets the leptin going without firing too much insulin. Keeps body from going into starvation mode or thinking your overnight fast is a famine.
2- 7:30 AM - do some cardio to wake up your thyroid. I currently do exercise early but also take my thyroid hormones. Should also boost mood for the day. Nice. I wonder if lifting here provides the same benefits?
3- Do meeting type stuff around lunch. T is down (less aggression) but not out (better memory, better cognitive function). Gherlin is up (hungry). So, dump some protein and fat in the system. They recommend tuna or salmon, probably because they are still in the good/bad fat world. I'm down with this.
4- 3:00 PM, do something competitive/challenging to spike some testosterone to finish the day.
There's some non-workday stuff, like watch chick flicks with wife (more progesterone, more cuddly), drink lightly (too much kills T, bad for guys), and take 1/2 hour between TV and bed (and eat some walnuts before as well... to get your melatonin going, easier to sleep).
That's my learning for today. I'm gonna try and work it.

I'm with Becca. When I come home from work, I might look on line a little, then go downstairs to make breakfast for kid(s), and generally have a protein shake with morning supps. Sometimes I have 2 eggs and 2 egg whites fried in butter. That's my routine but I like it and am never tempted to cheat in the mornings. Then I try to sleep, hopefully for 4 or 5 hours. I've been rearranging my supp schedule and now take my multi in the evening before I go to work, as the B vitamins tend to keep me revved up more.
Yesterday was a YES, and I trust today will be one also.:)

Okay, I've had my first cup of coffee and I'm civilized. I could still use three more hours of sleep, though! I would have slept well if it hadn't been for a couple of leg muscle cramps that showed up. I have no idea why! It's been better since I started taking the potassium, though. Thank the Lord for small favors... Oh, and I didn't get to bed early enough, either. My bad!
Becca, I'm glad your headache went away over night. Great idea on the bacon! Opening the whole pack and dealing with it usually stops me from cooking with it in the mornings. I'm going to do that. Less spoilage, too.
Hi, Josiane! Sounds like everything is under control. Have a good rest of the day!
Missy, sticker-friendly will be the new catch phrase for our challenge! I hope they call you soon or I'll burst!
Max, how nice to have a surprise on the scale! Have a good day at home before climbing back on the government treadmill.
Good morning all...
No I haven't written anything about my trip yet, I'm swamped trying to "catch up". I will write in my journal as some point, and come back here to direct you all when it's ready.
I have set a goal to be below 200 by my b-day (June 25). It's not an impossible goal, but I will have to work HARD.
I will say this about my vacation...first night of the trip I was sleeping on an air mattress in a sleeping bag in a tent in the middle of NO WHERE surrounded by LOUD animals, I slept TWELVE hours.
Last night, in my cozy bed, perfect sleeping temps, snuggled up against sweetie, three cats laying all over us...I got FIVE hours...
What's up with that??
I'm on plan with eating today, I have on my pedometer to measure my steps AND I have exercise on the schedule for the day.
I haven't planned my meals yet, but I'll do that next.
Gotta get to the HUGE pile of mail on my desk...vacations are SO hard to come back from!!
Oh. Breakfast is always 3 eggs, 1 serving of either bacon or sausage, and berries...except today when I needed something faster. But NORMALLY that is breakfast.
I was thinking of trying protein shakes for supper...???
I woke up with a headache. drank coffee, ate 4 eggs at 6 am . I gave most of the yokes to Gus. My headache is better. No drugs work on it so I didn't take any. Missy thinks it may be hormone based headaches. I haven't had time to ask my doc, but I plan to.
Doing LBWO during lunch. Then eating salmon and salad. Tonight is shish ca bobs at my parents house. My dads 74 birthday. I made him a 1 minute choc cake .A devils food and an angel food for the cousins and other family and a 1 minute vanilla cake for me.
I wake up with NO expectations...then I am not disapointed..everything is frosting on the cake .
Gotta get ready! Have a grood day and enjoy the day today.

Good morning, Amy
I tried a protein shake for supper last night and it was only two hours before I started feeling hungry. In the morning, they seem to last four hours. I'm going to try it again, though.
The few minutes extra it takes for me to start the thread means I don't have time to make a shake and I WON'T get up earlier. We should have a pouting smiley. :p Anyway, I've been having a breakfast of almonds, walnuts and a few dried cranberries in a baggie and that lasts me just as long. I want the shake for my supps, though.
Hawk, I would think as many problems as hormones cause for people, it's a definite possiblility. That one-minute chocolate cake keeps popping up and I think I'm going to have to try it one of these days. I avoid dessert types of things just because they can lead to other, more hazardous desserts. Curiosity is getting the better of me.

Max....you may want to rethink those walnuts....I read many places that THAT nut in particular is BAD NEWS for thyroider's. That is a nut I avoid for that very reason. Surely there is something to exchange for that for you. I'll see if I can find supporting information for you. ~ Congratulations on staying where you are weightwise! I'm SOOOO PROUD and PLEASED for you! :D ..."chick flicks" with wife for progesterone! lol funny. lol
Carol! I for one don't want YOU to forgo your breakfast because of your committment to US! GOODNESS GIRL!!!!!.:suspicious: ..What about.....prestarting the thread the night before? I don't think missing breakfast should be something you do....please.
About the bacon....what about taking the time to pre fry your package and THEN baggy them up? just a thought? I don't tend to fry my eggs in bacon grease though...so this might not be an option. I usually cook my bacon in the microwave on paper towels.
Amy...lol...aren't wild animals...especially birds NOISY! LOL We notice that when we go camping....and although it's pretty....sometimes you get SICK of it...and I want to yell "SHUUUUUUTTT UPPPPPP FOR A FEW MINUTES ALREADY!!!!"....gheesh! lol :o
I've decided that I'm going to learn to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning. I WAS previously a coffee drinker that was mainly a sugar and cream with a touch of coffee drinker! LOL I switched to one packet of sweetner with the cream, and I like it!
Oh, and...CAROL...lol You think YOUR going to BURST!!!??? lol I have my new career ALL PLANNED out in my head!! lol....I WISH THEY'D CALL DARN IT ALL!!!! lol
Good Morn....OH, Afternoon,
Wow, what happened to this AM? It is Mr.z's 2nd birthday and he wakes up with another fever, so I decided to take him to the doctor. (This has been going on for 3 weeks. He is sooooo grumpy, too.) Well, nothing notable wrong, but possible environmental allergies -- just like mom and big brother, Mr.X. So, we are trying new allergy meds. Hope it help. The big birthday celebration is tomorrow so the Papa's can come. (My kids don't have grandmas:frown: .)
Anyway. On track for today. I have two eggs and two piece of meat every morning. It gets boring, but the routine is lovely when so much else is going on. I switch what type of meat for variety.
Lunch today is left over pulled pork.
Dinner -- haven't decided yet. I do need to go grocery shopping, though.:frown:
Well the boys are all down for naps:D , and I have a minute or two by myself:D , I'm going to go take advantage of it!

afternoon,
ever since I've been married (over 30 years ago), I haven't woken up and "popped" awake - something I did almost every single night that I could remember before:rolleyes: .
But, some mornings it's harder than others to get up. Last few weeks, I've tried to make a deal with myself and I DON'T hit the snooze at all. Works better. I'm not happy about getting up, but I feel more awake more quickly.
I am a creature of routine in the AM. I get up, shower, feed cats, change litter, down and get rid of litter and let dog out. Come inside, make coffee. Put dog's "dog" food in his bowl. Make myself eggs, either hard boiled (at which point, once eggs in water, I come on 'puter while they cook) or scrambled or fried. I cook 3 eggs every morning, but the dog gets one, more or less. If fried or hb, he gets 1, if scrambled, I play it by ear. I do not put onions in, which I like, 'cos vet said he can't have any.
I cook three slices of bacon in mike, dog gets one. If I burn one, I eat it. If it is slightly not crispy, he gets it:razz: . I am seldom, if ever, tempted by anything at breakfast. I love eggs:D I could eat them for all 3 meals of the day. Only time I didn't eat them was 1974 when I learned all about eggs in biology. Took me a year to put it out of my head:eek: .
BTW...don't come near me if I haven't had my coffee:suspicious:
Later...

I was on target yesterday but need to journal. Planned good food but adapted to wife's suggestion of dinner out - but ate good food.
(story to intervene - About 2.5 weeks ago, DW and I were out at a restaurant. I had gone in with the intention of staying on plan, but nothing they had that was low-carb seemed remotely appetizing. They didn't have a big meaty salad, and all of the meat entrees had carby sauces or I was going to end up eating a plain chicken breast and thinking "I could have had this at home". It was an East Side Mario's (assume they have these in the U.S but don't know) and the pizza offerings looked so good and were so tempting.
So DW and I have a long discussion about whether I should eat what I want or be good. And it comes down to DW saying "if you can eat this and be happy, and go back to eating well tomorrow and staying on plan for the next 3 weeks or so, then go for it. But if you are going to have to fight miserable cravings then don't do it." And I decided I thought I could enjoy this meal and be on plan the next day and I was and the cravings were nothing different.
Note - I am taking metformin for the first time, and wonder if that didn't help reduce the carb rebound cravings I usually get.
Anyway, I was pretty pleased about this because I'm someone who's "maintenance" level of carbs is quite low, and one of the things that kills me is the feeling that to maintain, I have to deny myself for the rest of my life. I lost a lot of weight before (227 down to 140) and gained it all back and more on the thought that I would rather be fat than deny myself forever. So if it works for me now to be able to eat carby food once in a while, but not restart the cravings and go right back to plan, that's great.
So last night, as we were going into Perkins, I said to DW, I don't want to cheat tonight, and if I ask your opinion, tell me not to do it. (There's no point cheating at Perkins which does a better job with protein stuff than carby stuff). And that decision making, before I saw a menu, put it right out of my mind). End of interlude story!)
Anyway, about expectations. I have trouble expecting a good day ahead these days. I am struggling with depression, I think, and often lack energy. (That is the reason why pre-planning food and cutting down on preparation is so key to me).
I am better about having few expectations of myself. I am now committed to eating well for June, but I haven't made a commitment past then. "The rest of my life" seems impossibly too long. So it is easier for me to decide, right now, this is what I want for myself today.
All the best to everyone, today!

:) Good Morning Carol, Becca, Josiane, Lynn, Max, Joanne, Amy, Hawk, Annie, Wakefield, Missy and MSGQ!
Carol you are a sweetie to even “Start the Thread”. Like Lynn said, don’t forgo your breakfast for us! Make the shake first, and then go start the thread! The thread can wait!
How do I feel when I wake up in the morning?
Well, first of all, no matter what, when I wake up, I lay there for a minute and thank God for how He blesses me and my husband. We are healthy, have a roof over our head, food in a kitchen, and friends and family whom we love so dearly. My husband and I have a great relationship; we are best friends and I am so thankful for how much I love him and how happy I am with his love. I love my life and am so grateful for all He has done for me personally.
This time of year I listen for the chirping of the birds in our trees. They do flitter around at 5:00 am! I am usually well rested and happy when I wake up in the mornings.
Do I have a plan for breakfast?
Absolutely; I have to! I wouldn’t be so happy if I walked into the kitchen and had no idea what to eat. I know I have to eat eggs and meat every morning. On the weekends I usually cook up a whole package of bacon or sausage patties or links and then wrap the whole thing in paper towels and in plastic bags for the fridge. My eggs are boiled, fried, scrambled, and fresh daily. One of these days I am going to try a protein shake with water and forego the fruit and milk. I haven’t had a shake for a while now. I have chocolate and vanilla whey powder.
Do I have a PP Friendly House?
Not quite yet. I wanted to get the book (which I haven’t received YET!!) and see what I am doing right/wrong and get some ideas for snacks. I don’t mind celery and nuts. But I’m originally from Pensacola, Florida and I like Planters salty peanuts in my Pepsi. I don’t think those Planters salty, oily peanuts are very good for me.
Josiane, my husband and I are the same way. He gets up at 5:30 no matter what day it is. My internal clock goes off at about 7:00. Unfortunately I have to get up at 5:00 to get ready for work! So I have to use my alarm clock.
Lynn, what kind of samples do you have? Are you the painter? Our weather here in Idaho has been up in the 80’s during the day and this morning we got up to rain and cloudy skies. I love the rain and we always need it!
Wow Max, you have it all figured out don’t you? I admire that and especially admire the cuddling with the wife watching the chick flicks! My husband does the same with me, except I have to also sit through the ones he likes. It’s a fair deal. I get good naps!
:( I’m sorry to hear about everyone having headaches – those of you who do. I used to as well. About 10 years ago, my migraines used to wipe me out for a couple of days. I was missing way too much work and I couldn’t even move. I could feel them coming on and just went home, closed the blinds and prepared for excruciating pain for hours. The pain was so bad and it made me so upset, I would cry and throw up. I hated it. We finally got a lady neurologist in our town who advertised her business as the headache and migraine specialist. I went! She tried a few things and finally put me on Toprol. I am a granola girl from way back and don’t like putting chemicals of any kind into my body, but I had to do something…I had no options. So Toprol worked for a while until I was taking the largest dose and would get migraines periodically. She changed me to Inderal and I have been on that for a while. If I feel one coming on now, I can take 3 Excedrin and be good to go. Usually. If that doesn’t do it, I have Maxalt MLT which is a melting pill you put under your tongue. That takes care of it within 30 minutes. Regular Maxalt pills do nothing for me. It has to be the MLT. Anyway, I thought I would share my experience just in case someone can use it.
Gosh Amy, I hear you writing in your journal, I bought one the other day, but just wrote down the subjects I wanted to record in it! I love to write too! I am actually writing a couple of books. I will pray hard for you to make your goal of 200 by June 25. About your vacation – loud animals or not, I think you sleep better when you are outdoors. (Unless you’re wet and cold!)
MSGQ – You might try ALJ for all of your allergies. ALJ is a product from Natures Sunshine. It is an herbal combination. We sell them here in Idaho. We sell lots of ALJ, until the people don’t have allergies anymore. I can’t legally say the ALJ will “cure” allergies, but what it does is goes to the root of the problem in your sinuses and works on those to heal, instead of something the doc gives you to take care of the symptoms. You will have the symptoms while you are taking the ALJ until one day you don’t.
Anyway, breakfast for me today was 3 eggs boiled and one sausage patty. Lunch will be 1 chicken leg and 1 thigh and a salad with Chiz’s ranch. Tonight I don’t have clue yet. Last night my darling husband made us Grilled chicken and steamed artichokes. Yummy. I went to the gym and did my treadmill work out first - warm up at 2.5 mph for 5 mins, then walk for 4 at 3.8, then run for 1 min and start again at the walk. I am not much of a runner, but 1 minute each 5 is okay for now. I’ll run more as time goes on. Then I got on the stationary bike and rode for 15 minutes on Cardio/Hill. Then when I got home I got Kery (my husband) out on our bikes and we rode around the block twice. On the long parts we rode as fast as we could, then on the 2 short parts we rode standing up (like we were climbing a hill) and boy did that burn. Yikes. I was glad it was just for just a little ways. (1/2 block). So I felt good. Then we lay around the rest of the evening and watched “So you think you have talent” or something like that. Bed at 9:00.
Everyone have an awesome day! We all have so much to be grateful for!

Actually, Missy, I don't mind that as a breakfast, although it's more like road trip snacks. I just have my shake at night when I come home so I get my supps. If I made my shake first, instead of posting, I'd have to post from work and it would be really iffy this week!
Kathy, the poor baby! Give him a hug from me.
Agnes, if I would just go to bed on time, I'd be all right getting up as long as it's daylight. Winter's another matter entirely.
I am better about having few expectations of myself. I am now committed to eating well for June, but I haven't made a commitment past then. "The rest of my life" seems impossibly too long. So it is easier for me to decide, right now, this is what I want for myself today.
Wendy, you're sounding like a seasoned veteran. Good for you.
Patsy, I'm glad you came to be with us! :)
Hope everyone else's day is progressing well. I'll be back.

I feel a bit out of school since I'm not doing the PP today (wanted to get over the jet lag first, but I seem to be more lagged today than yesterday, go fig). But Day progresses. Am procrastinating a phone call (I could swear I said something about never doing that again), but feel very muzzy about the head.
As far as the questions I didn't answer before:
How do you feel when you wake up in the morning?
Sometimes I feel great. Sometimes I feel like I can't. Regardless, how I start the day has a butterfly effect on the rest of the day, so I tend to grin and bear it. When I'm in my place, I get up at 5:40, on the bus by 6, in the gym by 6:40, and so on. So, project myself through it when it's tough. The workout makes a lot of difference. Serotonin, melatonin, adrenaline, I dunno. I just feel really good after a good workout.
Do you have a plan for breakfast?
Breakfast 1 is shake. In the can. 1/2 hour after meds, because thyroid doesn't play nice with food. Or fiber. Or other meds. Or anything. Breakfast 2 is unscripted, but can be a shake (from the powder) or something from across the street at the breakfast buffet. That's within an hour of the end of the workout. I have read that this is good to build muscle.
Do you have PP friendly food in the house?
Yes. But I had PP unfriendly stuff in the house too. DW does her thing, which is the Zone, roughly speaking. The stuff my wife gets that isn't PP is mostly not interesting to me (LF granola, melba toast, LF ice cream snacks, healthy cereal, etc). We now have some souvenir pasta in the house too. Bright colored shells and sponges. They will be used for a special occasion. Maybe when the In laws are in town next month. But, I have the staples that I need, almost always. Snacks (cheese, nuts), shakes, protein, etc.
Okay I have a moment to answer the questions as well...
How do you feel when you wake up in the morning?
I usually feel pretty good in the am, I am DEFINITELY a morning person. I LOVE to jump out of bed when the alarm goes off at 5:20, but my GF likes to snuggle in the am. It's a struggle between us, so sometimes I win, sometimes she wins.
My favorite mornings are when I am brought coffee and the newspaper in bed, take half hour to read it, then up and at 'em!
Do you have a plan for breakfast?
Breakfast comes easy....eggs, meat, fruit if we have it. Once in awhile I'll have left overs if I'm running late, then I can just grab and take to eat at work upon arrival.
Do you have PP friendly food in the house?
That's a good question...I do and I don't. I do all the grocery shopping, so there is always PP friendly foods in the house, but my GF has her foods of choice, which lately seem to be M&M's and Tangy Twister Mike and Ike's. I have tried her Mike & Ike's, but it's not really something I would choose. And I made a deal with myself nine years ago never to have chocolate again-and so far I've stuck to it...so I don't worry about her foods.
I always have eggs, nuts, and cheese available. The rest is usually in the freezer packaged in double servings for easy thawing. Salmon, steak, hamburger, turkey, sausages, chicken, tilapia...all at the ready.
So in my opinion, I do have a PP friendly food house!

I went prattling on without answering the questions, so here's post #2 for me.
How do I feel in the morning: usually pretty lethargic. Even when I was regularly doing yoga it was always a fight with myself. And lately, I feel most of the time that I would like to call in sick.
Plan for breakfast: I almost always have frozen berries, microwaved, with cottage cheese. The berrie type changes. Sometimes I add a breakfast sausage (turkey) that I get from M + M meat shops (does anyone but Canadians have these?). On the weekends I am more open. I don't like eating for several hours after I wake up, but have to during the week, so on weekends it can often be quite late and sometimes I eat two bigger meals. I'm more likely to have eggs on Saturday.
PP Friendly Food in the House: We have lots of PP friendly food and lots of non-PP friendly food. DW is a vegetarian and carb eater, so there's a lot of variety. We basically can't eat together.
I made a deal with myself nine years ago never to have chocolate again-and so far I've stuck to it...
OMG!
How do you do this? I mean, specifically, what psychological pressures did you face saying "never again" and how did you overcome them.

Welcome Bajabnd! Sounds like you're fitting right in with this great group of folks here.;)
OMG!
How do you do this? I mean, specifically, what psychological pressures did you face saying "never again" and how did you overcome them.
I also haven't had french fries or potato chips in nine years...
I haven't had a cookie of any kind for about 7 years...
I haven't had a pizza (well, I've had MEATZA from the recipe section of this board-but no Pizza) for about 6 years...
I haven't had ice cream of any kind for about 7 years...
I think these choices have helped me maintain my 100lb weight loss...
These are foods that I identified as being SO bad for me...the ULTIMATE in "I can't stop once I start" foods and the "I crave the minute I stop eating" foods...so, I had to get rid of them, COMPLETELY. No substitutes, no low carb versions. Gone...for good.
I HAD to make them "not an option" foods. Had to treat them like I'm allergic, because really...I AM. They make me break out in FAT! They make me lethargic. They make me crabby, and lazy, and when I'm eating them, I'm SO focused on that food that I am totally missing out on life and the people around me.
Those foods simply are not WORTH it for me anymore...

Good afternoon everyone. I was reading through and noticing everyone answering specific questions that I didn't recall seeing. Now I realize that Carol edited her post so I missed some of the questions ;)
How do I feel when I wake up? It really can vary from day to day. Some days I'm up about 10 minutes before the alarm and feeling great (was the norm til I started working actually), some days it's pure torture to wake up at all. Most days in between, don't want to get up but once I do some "in bed stretching" I'm good.
I think I covered the breakfast question already. To add to some of the bacon comments. I came up with the baggie idea, not for breakfast, but because I have some recipes I want to try (still haven't  ) that call for 1-2 slices of bacon here and there and didn't want to thaw a whole pound. After I split it up like I do and got back on the LC wagon last fall I realized it makes a great way to do the bacon and eggs (any time really, I do that for afternoon snacks sometimes too). As to cooking first, I don't think bacon is worth eating unless it's hot and crisp! Can't stand bacon bits and stuff like that. But freshly cooked (even microwaved) bacon is an all time fav of mine (and the smell....... ). :D
PP friendly foods - yes, though sometimes limited. Always cheese and tuna, most often almonds (if I'm out they're on the next Sam's trip). Always have chicken breasts in the freezer. Of course having non-LCers in the house we have stuff for them too. I do insist on Nature's Own 100% Whole Wheat bread though, it's about the only one I've found out there that doesn't have PH oils or HFCS.
I too have "issues" with protein shakes late in the day. In the mornings they'll last me 3 hours or so, but later in the day I'm doing good if I can go an hour without getting hungry again. I'll have one for dinner only if I'm in a "don't feel like eating anything" mood then DH and the girls will do their thing and I"ll have a shake just to get the protein in since I'm not hungry anyway. I think part of it is because I've never been the sort that likes to eat (solid food) first thing in the morning. Before shakes (and LC) I would be up several hours then have an english muffin or toast or something. Of course I've done shakes for aobut 6 years now (more or less, some deviations) so now I pretty much get hungry within an hour of waking up!
Now I have a silly question.... WakefieldWendy - I was calling you Wendy, at least in my head, but it seems you're a Mr. Wendy? What do we call you, since you're not Wendy, that's the DW based on your profile.
Amy I'm totally impressed with your willpower.
Hi to every one else! If I did individual replies my post would be too long (like it's not already ;) )
Have my girls home and we're going to the mall (and out for dinner  ).
I'll be back to post later on!

Worry NOT Becca...I never answered THOSE questions either! :o  ...I guess I better...or she might put ME in the corner, eh?!
How do I feel in the morning? Pretty good. Except for a long while now, my problem ISN'T about getting up in the morning, as much as it's been unable to fall asleep...while ON melatonin.. I'm thinking it's thyroid related...but I'm doing a new "science" experiment...so we shall see! :D Funny thing is, I'm not getting alot of sleep, but I'm not feeling too tired either.
Plan for breakfast...well, ALWAYS the easy stand by is a PP drink...but sometimes, it's ham, bacon and eggs. Or something proteiny that's not normal breakfasty...you know. lol
PP food in the house....OH YES! :D With a few exceptions of things that are too carby, such as apples, and other fresh fruit and bread and a bag of potatoes for my husbands liking. But, I can easily ignore that. He's not a snacker of junk food...well, for the most part anyways. So, it's not a big deal.
AMY! AMAZING WOMAN!
Carol...not to nag you...but don't you think you need to get your PROTEIN in in the morning for a good start of the day??
Patsy?? Where you referring to Missy/Lynn or Hawk/Lynn?? I'm Missy the painter, yes. I just have pictures of some of the things I do in my journal.
ANDDDDDDDD I'm here to CLAIM my FIVE STICKERS for the day...PLUS a BONUS STAR for coming to understand the possiblity of SOME of the foods I eat regularly, called "goitrogenic foods" that maybe, more then likely, interferring with the function of my thyroid...which is bad if your already hypothyroid, and I am. So, as of today I am cutting them out for the most part till I figure this out!

How do I feel in the morning? Usually happy and ready to go. Oh yep I'm ready with a PP friendly breakfast.I love eggs. Today it was 3 eggs with cheese, salsa and sour cream. Yum!

Missy~ yeah on the 5 stickers!
Hi~ to anyone I forgot! I get so far and forget what I read!
I did great at the potluck last night! No worries! I get all yes's for today also
Hi!
What a day this has been. I'm glad we are heading toward bed. The boys are down and I'm on my way. Since this darn cold has me dragged down, I'm going to spend the remainder of my day reading!
I think I'm a yes for today. I'm starting to form some questions about protein in my head that I will need to post soon, but I'm not sure how to word things. I'm wondering why the amount of protein is important....
We went out to dinner tonight because I was feeling too crudy to cook. Had a Tuscan Salad at Perkins. Not the greatest place, but kid friendly.
Amy - I just love what you had to say about giving up food. I can tell I am coming to that very point. I had an allergy to something in flour, I'm not sure what, probably the yeast and I just cannot eat ANYTHING that has flour in it. So...I have had to say NO, with NO compromise. I need to add more things to my list!
I've decided that my summer goal is to be in the next size down jeans by fall. I need to decide how I'm going to do that and post that too, but not tonight.
Okay, I'm off. Have a good evening!

Missy a few hours in the corner might do you some good! ;) :D You could paint on the walls while you're there!
Mikki thanks for the thoughts! Given that it's now nearly 10 my time and I'm not even remotely sleepy (and normal "bedtime" is 9:30) I expect tonight will not be good. Course I have only myself to blame for that.... more below. :(
Kathy I hope you feel better soon.
Well we went to the mall.... ate at the mall.... never a good thing for me - FOOD COURT. I suppose if I had put some effort into it I could've found something that would've kept me on plan, but I just plain didn't. DD2 bought herself a new purse. I was just glad she decided to use her gift card for something useful and not more Build A Bear. I made a run into GNC and got some chromium and apple cider vinegar capsules along with 2 protein bars (which I would've done better to have had for dinner) :o
So the numbers, well most of them:
Protein: 143 grams - yes
ECCs: not gonna put the number, though I have it, more than the previous 5 days combined - resounding no :( :(
Water: 128 ounces - yes
Supplements: AMP'd + almonds - yes
Exercise: took a day off - I've done it for 5 days straight, 74 minutes total so have already met my weekly goal.
Hoping to go to work early tomorrow. Have to take DD2 to her library orientation (not that she needs it) for volunteering over the summer. Then I plan to take the girls to the zoo. Fuddruckers (on plan) for dinner.
Off to finish my cheese and go to bed...and hopefully sleep.

Yes for me...
Food was right on plan, but skipped my snack (ran out of time).
I'm heading upstairs to do my belly dance workout video (since I didn't get in 8000 steps), then to bed.
SO I get a YES for today!

Carol...not to nag you...but don't you think you need to get your PROTEIN in in the morning for a good start of the day??
There's protein in the nuts, Missy. You're nagging. Actually, I would sit down to bacon and eggs if one of you would come over and have it ready for me by 7:50 a.m. :D Seriously, I have not calculated my protein today, but don't tell the others, okay? I also had about three ounces of meat for lunch with a bunch of veggies and eight ounces between work and my photoshop class.
Now I realize that Carol edited her post so I missed some of the questions :)
You must have had sleep in your eyes, Becca! :) I went back in to put the quote field around the quote after I got to work. The questions were there all the time! Not to worry, they are only to give us something to talk about if we need it. This is all about what we're going to do to get what we want out of the program. Do you think I should put Missy in the corner? :slywink:
Congratulations to those of you who made it through the day with a YES! For those who didn't quite make it, I know you'll be more focused tomorrow. It's true that the carbs fuzz the brain up. I have noticed a drop in cravings just since I wrote of the lc tortillas, which surprises me.

another very late busy day.
Definitely not on plan yesterday, but was slightly more de-stressed, at least, I thought I was, but I "mustn't" have been.
Did not end up eating on plan at last night's dinner, but after speaking to dh, really was not as "off" as I thought I was:rolleyes: . But still not on, and didn't get any thing I'd call "exercise" in, although I did do a lot of moving.
I'm drinking my coffee now, I so wanted to sleep in today...but those are the days I most "can't". Hard-boiling eggs...which I had a craving for.
Off to read all the messages I didn't have time to read yesterday.

Adios, Claudette! See you on or near the sixteenth.
Agnes, I understand about wanting to sleep in. We had a beautiful cool night and I was catching up on my sleep when the alarm went off. Sigh. You will be better today. I just know it.:)

Now I have a silly question.... WakefieldWendy - I was calling you Wendy, at least in my head, but it seems you're a Mr. Wendy? What do we call you, since you're not Wendy, that's the DW based on your profile.

Hi Becca - no, not a silly question at all. I am a woman, and my name is Wendy. (And once upon a time I lived in Wakefield, Quebec, which is a lovely little village just north of Ottawa, Ontario. Now I live in Ottawa, but when I was a regular on the boards (2001 - 2003 I think) I was known as WakefieldWendy and so used that name again).
I have a DW (rather than a DH) because I am a lesbian, and my spouse is a woman (named Wendy Ann, of all the inconvenient coincidences!). Since we are Canadian, same-sex marriage is legal. (Although as I say that, it sounds like that's what makes it a marriage to me, and its not. It's nice that it's legal, but to me the essence of marriage is a covenental relationship between two people and God. We are both heavily involved with our church - a church with a very liberal and inclusive theology - and we met there, and we had a beautiful wedding service. And that is, fundamentally, what makes us "married" in our own eyes. But to the eyes of the world, what matters is that it is legal. So, we're safe - it's both!)
LOVE that there is another OUT lesbian on board!!
WELCOME WENDY!!!!

Oh yeah, I've been out since I was first on (2001) this board (or its predecessor). In those days there were literally hundreds of people posting every day and I was the one and only out person. So it's interesting to me that now there are maybe 25 - 50 people posting daily (a total guestimate on my part) and two are out!
Cheers!
