This is an article from the T-Nation site dealing with the gym habbits of the "computer guy" (read office drone). Very informative:

Have fun!

Interesting. I am computer guy, but am working on posture. Front squats seem to be in vogue at this moment in time. In this article, in the current Men's Health workout I'm doing, in the one from last year that I'm doing and in the rotation of the guy in the gym's workouts. Interesting how the zeitgeist moves.

PS- I've been doing chop type movements for 3 of the last four months. You'd be surprised at the difficulty, especially for a computer guy.

You're right about front squats (and squats in general) have been huge lately. Along with deads and all the other compound movements.

It's pretty funny because when you look at his typical computer guy workout and look at what I was doing when I first got back to the gym they were like identicle.

Yay knowledge!

Although I'm not really a "computer guy", I have become more of one over the last six months (the computer part, not the guy  ).

I was in five, yes FIVE car accidents in 365 days (NONE my fault) so I really struggle with my upper back/neck and I have found that sitting at a computer and using a mouse really cause those knots the article talked about.

I was doing seated bench press, and my chiropractor told me that if I'm working the "front" I also need to work the "back" so I added the seated row. I can't believe the difference it makes. I think he was actually RIGHT :D . It does feel better to work the front AND the back.

Just for the record, I am CONSTANTLY mentioning ergonomics with my company (we develop software so I am SURROUNDED my "the computer guy"), but they are young and just don't listen. I see a couple already have the rounded upper back hump...sad to see.
