I have been following PPLP religiously now for a couple of months. The last few days, I have been feeling quite dizzy. Since the doctor had just started me on Celexa for depression, it was the first thing I suspected. With the doctor's blessing, I quit taking it a few days ago. When I felt better, I figured problem solved. But the dizziness came back. The one day (Friday) I felt better, I had had a 2/3 lb increase in my weight. More salt the day before. Saturday the dizziness was back. I went to the pharmacy and took my blood pressure and it was 116/72. I added some salt back into my food last evening and thought I had found the problem. But today, I am quite dizzy again. So, I'm not sure if this is a flu bug, low sodium or some other ailment. I am drinking 2 quarts of water a day.

In order to track my food, I got a program called "Health & Diet Manager" for my Smartphone. It shows carbs, proteins and fats for day. I have been getting about 50 ECC a day.

Thanks for any ideas.

If it's just popped up after a couple of months, then it could be something quite unrelated to your diet - like a bug of some kind. If you're thinking it could be salt, then it's probably worth looking at potassium, not just sodium, but after two months, and at 50 ecc per day, I wouldn't expect you to be having problems with electrolyte depletion - unless it's especially hot or you're doing something that's causing you to lose more than usual (sweat, sickness, diarrhoea are the usual culprits - along with the fluid loss that happens when you start eating low carb).

Did your doctor have any other ideas?

I will be seeing the doctor on Wednesday for my latest blood test results. He said there is a flu bug going around and I just found out a friend of a friend is having the same problem.

I have been taking a potassioum gluconate tablet, a 250 mg magnesium tab, and calcium everyday. The salt I am adding in is lite salt, with sodium and potassium.

Thank you

This is probably anticlimactic, then, but whenever I experience dizzyness it's an allergy-related ear thing, for which I take guifensen. Usually seasonal, but not necessarily.

Good luck! :)

Thanks, folks. I'm doing somewhat better today. So, maybe a bug.

Hi,
I just returned from the Dr. and he is thrilled with my bloodwork. Electrolytes and blood pressure are good, so he thinks the dizziness is probably allergies. We're having a bad allergy season. I am thinking either allergies or flu bug.

So thanks for the ideas.

Don't you just love thrilling the doctor? Mine used to get almost giddy. Now he just shakes his head. Doesn't even mention cholesterol medicine any more. Good for you, Lora!
