hope you all join in with your comments on menu's, some you like, some you see problems with. This is a great place to see what other people are eating and how they get around social or family events! Join in!

Billie
Breakfast: Omelet with green peppers, ham, cheese, coffee,

Lunch: Left over beef roast with mushrooms, zucchini, squash and a little portion of rice--a slice of carmel apple found me

Dinner: Ground Turkey croquettes with red peppers, mozarella cheese, fresh avocado creamed with some lemon and salt and some raspberry parfait

Well what happened with that apple? Bilie your portion of beef at lunch could have been more, it might have helped say no to the afternoon treats. The raspberry parfait recipe is posted in the recipe section and I have to say it is just yummy!

Breakfast: Orangecicle Whey Protein Shake with 6 large strawberries, some yogurt and a bit of cinnamon. Also one of Relief's Zucchinni muffins (58 Protein, 12 ECC)

Snack: 3 Pepperoni sticks (18 Protein, 3 ECC)

Lunch: Large Greek Salad with vinegar and oil, one Beefeater Dry Sausage, a small tangerine (38 protein, 12 ECC)

Snack: 1 Tbs. PB, 8 almonds

Dinner: Pork Ribs, Bok CHoy with Lemon, 1 cup raspberries/Davinci, a Caff-Lib later in the evening

Randy, it looks wonderful, how about some explaination for those who don't know what a Beefeater Dry sausage is. I see you are still into Bok Choy, good for you my friend!

b: coffee/splenda/halfnhalf; Atkins bar (by the way, they have REALLY improved these...no more sugar alcohols!)

L: ham on lc tortilla

D: ??

S: 4 squares of Lindt dark (70% cocoa) chocolate...I am hooked on these...good thing that I am almost sick after this many...I would eat the whole bag (the squares are individually wrapped, about 2 ECC per square); another Atkins bar (hey, at least it's not a Snickers!

Aaron, you know you had a freebie this week, you could have posted snickers bar all the way down the line and I wouldn't have said a word! BUT next week, bring on the veggies! Glad you are here!

Morning..I had scrambled eggs with onion salt, garlic powder, cheese, and bacon bits. Coffee
Lunch.. Chicken breast, salad
Dinner..I am eating turkey and brocolli ( I made a 22 Lb turkey at my freinds home yesterday so I could have non carb stuff.
Protien shake after work out sometime today.

Lynn, it goes to show everyone that planning and be mindful that our bodies are important really are important. It would have been easy to make an excuse babysitting at your friends but instead of doing that you came through with flying colors! Way to go, so good to see you!

B - EAS LC shake, scrambled eggs with spinach
S - soy nuts & LC tortilla with cheese (I think my workout made me hungry! :-))
L - LC bagel
S - string cheese
D - steak & asparagus

Lizi you had a lot of early protein there with the eggs and shake, a good start, but what was with that LC bagel for lunch! Was it loaded with ham and cheese or beef and you just forgot to tell us, I bet that was it!:o Steak and asparagus, love that combo especially this time of eyar

B: 2 eggs fried in ghee, 3 brown and serve sausage links, 1 Gaelen's nut muffin, 2 mugs coffee with half and half

S: Low-carb yogurt, 1 beef frankfurter

Late L/early Supper: Mixed green salad topped with a salmon filet

Late Dinner/Snack: Dr. Snacker seeded spelt crackers, slice each of cheese and salami, wine
Stevie!! My wine buddy!! Good to see you. Looks like some early protein for you getting you fired up for your day. You do alot with eating when you can with your schedule it looks good! Nothing wrong with salmon filet and a big green salad...okay have to ask what is the wine, a nice red?

B-egg drop soup, steamed chicken, broccoli & brown rice, flaxseed muffin
S-protein shake
L-grilled chicken, spinach, tomatos, cukes & O&V
S-greek yogurt w/protein powder & kiwi
D-eggs & chicken sausage
Hot Chocolate

Nice menu, have to ask since it was breakfast that you had a larger meal, was that cooked already or did you get up and start cooking! Greens, red, some good choice with the carbs and brown rice, probably not much of that, what about the hot chocolate before bed, how was that made?

B: Protein shake. 1/2 c frozen berries. My whey powder is 5 carbs for 24 gr protein. Today I substituted cottage cheese for fruit. I wonder how it would be if I whipped a raw egg into it. Anybody tried that?

L: Salad w/5 oz chicken, bacon, cheese, sun seeds, 0-carb dressing

S: Nuts or a Chocoperfect bar

D: Roast beef & broccoli

S: Yogurt, berries, ground walnuts

Carol no I haven't tried the raw egg in shakes, but that is not really a fair comment because I rarely have shakes. What is a chocoperfect bar? It's a nice menu, it looks like you are really comfortable eating PP, good going women!

Breakfast: 3 eggs over medium
3 pieces bacon
Tea

Lunch: Cabbage cooked in beef broth with Chopped Sirloin added in.
Tea

Snack: Peanutbutter protein balls

Dinner: Probably the same as lunch

Gwanny great start with the eggs and bacon. The cabbage soup sounds delicious, especially since it's cold and rainy here in central Ilinois today.. Peanut butter protein balls, is that your recipe you could post, I have been craving for peanut butter, peanut butter cookies so would love to hear how you make these! See it wasn't so bad to post that menu now was it?

The usual 3 cups of coffee w/ Splenda and half and half
1 cup cottage cheese with a few orange and grapefruit sections

Snack:
String Cheese

Lunch:
Leftover low-carb pad thai (made with steamed angle hair cabbage instead of rice noodles) - lots of chicken in this one, and the sauce is made w/ low carb ketchup, fish sauce and liquid Splenda

Dinner:
Leftover low-carb Texas-style Chili; I posted the recipe on the old board, I'll try and find time to post it here! One of Gaelen's nut muffins, made with tahini instead of peanut butter, shredded cheddar, minced jalapeno and a touch of liquid Splenda - good sub for cornbread.

Snack:
Sugar free fudgesicle - I'm lucky there's any left, after the kids found them

Janis nice menu, I would love to hear more about that chili recipe so I do hope you post it and let us know. It sounds like such a nice blend of flavors for lunch you got a southwest thing going on! Lunch, what is left over low carb Pad? And you stay out of those fudgesickle missy!

Breakfast: 4 eggs (I know...a lot), 1/4 cup cheddar cheese, smoked turkey, 2 crackers, 1/4 cup peanuts. I know that's a weird combo, but it was good! LOL

Normally, I wouldn't have peanut butter and peanuts in the same day, but later this evening I got really tired and wasn't feeling well. So, I didn't wanna eat again.

Exercise: 45 minutes walking
Supplements: Yes
Calories: 1709
Fat: 116

Nice posting Fauna, I like that you posted everythign about your day, working on this is 24/7! Just a question many people eat mini meals, you had two great meals in breakfast and lunch and then you said you didn't feel well, just wondering if normally you would have had another meal or you go the mini meal or snack route? Good to see you posting here!

B: blueberry muffin (LC) berry/cocnut milk protein smoothie, hot tea

L: huge salad romaine and spinach with tomato, avocado, Jicama, cheddar cheese, black olives, and 6 ounces grilled chicken breat chopped up --southwest ranch dressing --YUM!
S after work met SO at a coffee shop had a hot tea w/splenda and brought along a homemade sugar free" mounds" candy. nice treat!

D 2 buffalo hot dogs ( bought them at costco --they have the Eades' picture on them!) with sauerkraut and homemade sweet pickle relish. 10 grapes and a section of SO's orange

Relief a great menu! I noticed that recipe for the mounds candy and I want to try it, they made my mouth melt reading the recipe. Good job all around, how were the buffalo hot dogs?

Wow everyone I think we did pretty darn good! Very few off menu choices, and some good quality protein and colorful veggies and fruits, really nice job!

Anyone else join in, give your comments or feedback, everyone is encouraged and invited! This is a long post and I hope I didn't miss anyone, I have lost this once already and redid!

My breakfast which is more like dinner, (my biggest meal of the day) is usually made already the night before. I do a lot of cooking on the weekends for the week.

The hot chocolate is either diet hot chocolate by Nestle or I have the International coffees, suisse mocha or vanilla sugar free of course.

Hi, Billie! :) Thank you for the feedback. As far dinner goes, more often than not, I have an actual meal. Not feeling good last night forced me to do the mini-meals because I just couldn't stand the thought of eating something big. I ended up having to keep on snacking so that I could at least reach my protein minimum, though I would have preferred to quit eating after lunch. LOL

Hope you have a wonderful day! :D

Shay, I have enjoyed those mochas as well, when I have a chocolate craving it helps and it is just nice to have something warm and velvetty at night! Good for you for planning ahead and cooking on the weekends, left overs rock!

Fauna, hope you are feeling better today!

Thanks Billie...I was actually pretty good last week...now is when I"m struggling...people are bringing in meals, and they are not always low-carb friendly...I did stock up last night on some things to have at home, so I have NO excuse!

Thanks for posting the Feedback Billie, there was a big group yesterday and it would have taken some time.:D

There are a few dry sausages that seem to store quite a while in the fridge. Most real deli's make there own brand and my favorite for camping/hiking used to be Szabo, (pronounced Chabo) but lately it has been the Beef Eater sausage. They are cooked all beef, a little leaner than the others and without some of the strong garlic flavor so I keep them here at work as well if I ever need some great protein at 30-35 Protein apiece.

Billie, I only got like two fudgesicles out of the entire box, because the kids keep eating them! And they are SF! :o

I made Pad Thai for dinner Saturday - I loooooove Asian food. It's long, thin rice noodles with a sweet sauce, scrambled egg, meat of some sort or tofu (I did chicken), bean sprouts, cilantro and finely chopped peanuts. I use a commercially prepared Pad Thai sauce that I get at an Asian market for the family, but make my own with SF ketchup, fish sauce (nam pla, the real thing, not that HFCS-laden stuff they sell in the Asian section of the supermarket) and a little liquid Splenda and sub the rice noodles with angel hair shredded cabbage. When I go to all the trouble to make Pad Thai, I ALWAYS make at least two extra servings so I'll have leftovers.

Sunday I did the chili - now that I look back, all I did was cook all weekend! The chili is time consuming, but oh, so worth it and I'll try and post the recipe this afternoon or evening.

the hot dogs are good--they don't taste exactly like your old favorite junky kind--both good and bad depending on your point of view--but they are organic high in protein and low in nitrites etc. and pretty tasty.

Billie: chocoperfection is a new sugar free candy company. the chocolate is sweetened with erythritol and inulin. very high fiber, no splenda or maltitol and tastes like heaven!
It seems pricey because to get the best price you have to buy a dozen bars at a time and the bars are 2 ounces each so the hit is pretty high all at once, but I've made some comparison's and ounce for ounce it is about the same cost as other sugar free chocolate bars. here is the link: http://www.lowcarbspecialties.com/choco_bars.html

Deborah, the chocoperfection bars I just received have been downsized to 1.8 oz and I think the cost went up to $35/dozen.

I love your new avatar, by the way!;)

I just got a new shiment too and didn't notice the downsizing though I did notice the price increase-- whew!!! still absolutely worth it in my opinion though it doies start ot seem like highway robbery doesn't it?! I KNOW that she has been getting lots of business from Jimmy Moore's posting about this --you would think that that would make the price go DOWN!

Thanks, Billie! I think I will go with the eggbeaters for the lower-fat, pasturized reasons, but today I put one in with about a scoop and a half of whey powder (also some cream). It tasted fine, but for some reason I got munchy about two hours later. That was enough protein, so I'm not sure why.

Chocoperfection is a very good-tasting candy that doesn't seem to stimulate cravings for more with me, unlike sorbitol and mannitol, and there's no gastric effects. The dark-chocolate version is reminiscent of chocolate chips. Some of the folks were going to try baking with it, but I didn't hear any results yet. At $3.00/bar, it's getting a little steep. I imagine the old cost was introductory; I think it was very new.

using it in cooking works great--you can use it in anyrecipe that calls for bitterw-sweet chocolate-- it works just the same. I made a molton lava cake the other day and you can make fudge type frosting, use it in cheesecake chop it up and make chocolate chop muffins or cookies or the mounds type candy thingys I made the other day too. infinite possibliities.

I think I need to order those chocolate bars. I am so sick of feeling sick from the gas from all the other SF chocolates.

Billie
03-28-2006, 10:39 AM
Shay you can also have a dark chocolate, like 70% cocoa or above and it works well too. Whatever works to keep those chocolate cravings at rest!

I am so sick of feeling sick from the gas from all the other SF chocolates.
Not only that, but I found that sf protein bars, etc., jump-started my craving mechanism, too! I stopped eating them and the cravings settled back down. Now I'm back to looking out for negative thoughts again. That's my other trigger.

I found these little squares of 70% cocoa Lindt chocolate. They are sweetened with real sugar, but not much...and they are REALLY rich. They are pricey...3.88/bag at walmart, and not a whole lot in the bag, but it was a nice treat for me. I don't have the bag right here in front of me, so I can't tell you the exact ECC, but it seems like it was only 2 or 3 per square.

Aaron I will look for them the next time I go to Walmart.

I was looking for the recipe for the PB protein balls on the old boards but I could not find it. I remember it just being PB rolled in a ball and into protein powder is that right? Then just refrigerate or freeze? Anyone know?

I FOUND IT UNDER BITE-SIZED SWEETS ON THIS FORUM!

L - LC bagel
what was with that LC bagel for lunch! Was it loaded with ham and cheese or beef and you just forgot to tell us, I bet that was it!:o

Actually, no. :o I was on my way to the gym and needed something on the go so I ate it on my way to the gym. Well, actually, it did have cream cheese on it which doesn't add a lot of protein but the bagel does have 15 g of protein - not great, but not terrible.

Thanks for all of the feedback...I know it's time consuming to critique everyone's meals. Thanks again!

I think I need to order those chocolate bars. I am so sick of feeling sick from the gas from all the other SF chocolates.

I find that some of the deli's carry European chocolate, sweetened with Erythritol or Lactitol which have a lower GI and none of the gas problems unless you overdo it (more thatn a bar).
There are many brands and they are less expensive than the smaller Ross, Malitol flavored bars.

I have the more expensive Dark ChocoPerfection bars as well, but best value seems to be the Wawel Dark Chocolate (2.8 oz) with lactitol being the main sweetener. They are large bars and a half bar has 4 ECC.
http://www.wawel.com.pl/katalog/data/products/tb/prod149758.jpgThese sell for $1.45 here so would be less in the States, but are hard to source.
Their site is http://www.wawel.com.pl/katalog/?l=en&cat=13 and it includes an email link to find a local source.

One of my wife's favorites is strawberries in whipped Yogurt with a bit of Davinci, drizzled with some of this chocolate melted in some butter. It melts easier than the Chocoperfection bar and if you use a bit of butter and cream you get a chocolate that stays soft long enough to serve on a dessert.

Relief

i have never seen the chocolate you describe Randy--but I do know that lactitol causes me personally MORE problems than maltitol on the gastric issue. I get gassy from maltitol but the lactitol goes right though me--if you know what I mean:eek:

Ottawa
03-29-2006, 08:32 AM
Maybe thats why a few of our guests never came back. :D :D :D

I have not had that problem but we are all different and our responses are different. I find that the Malitol flavored ice cream has that effect unless preceeded by a meal.
My wife has a major problem with Malitol, etc., but if it is in the house and she has a day off, she has a problem as well and says we should not have it in the house but on her next day off it is back or she finds a stash.

ShayKNJ

I have never seen that brand either. I might be better off with 70% cocoa chocolate. I have tried so many different SF chocolates and they all make me sick. A little real sugar is probably better in the end (no pun intended)

Okay Billie,
It wasn't too painfull to post! :D Sorry I've taken so long to get back to ya, but I've spent the last two days with the grandbabies, and they can really zap my energy and my brain power.
I really don't measure (which I will get back to doing) when making the peanutbutter balls.......I got the idea from Jules (I believe) from the original board. I just mix about 1/2 cup of peanutbutter with approximately that much plain protein powder (I get from the Protein Factory), then just make the balls out of it. You can do the math and figure how many you want to make to get what counts you want out of it. IF I'm really wanting something sweet, I add a little splenda to it. OR, IF I'm really wanting something sweet and chocolate, I break up a little of the 70% Lindt choco bar in them. But, most of the time, it's just the peanutbutter and protein powder.
Speaking of "Jules"....do you remember her. I believe she was an attorney from Atlanta, Ga. She had just had a little girl a few months before the board went down. I've thought of her often and wonder how she is doing. I don't remember what her username was...I bet SherryJ might remember.
Well gonna get for now........seeing those Grandbabies again tomorrow and probably going with them and my daughter-in-law up to their Nana's house to help with her a little. For those that remember my telling about Chloe...she got to come home from the hospital(again) Saturday.
