Morning,
Still feeling the effects of the Carbtastrophe yesterday and am sluggish this morning. Since I was pitiful last night, went to bed early, and I've been up now since 4 a.m.
Better day ahead today, and since the weather is supposed to be nice I can get outside and walk during lunch. TGIF since I won't have to go to work this weekend and can plan a new strategy on how to deal with the carb encrusted carbs that sit 15 feet from my desk on a daily basis.
Hope all are planning, have planned, will plan a great day for today.

Good morning, Michelle :).
Actually, it's been a rather trying morning so far. Our electricity tripped - it does this fairly often and we can't track down the reason and can't face (or afford ) having the house rewired and having to redecorate right through. It reset fairly easily, but our new networked hard drive (the one that has all of both of our data on it) got its firmware fried, so my husband spent ages finding out what was wrong, ringing their helpline, downloading and installing the firmware... At the same time I was trying to install some new internet security software on my machine. Of course, it got itself confused, so I had to uninstall and reinstall . Then it told me my subscription had expired - for some reason it hadn't registered the product key for the one I'd just installed, but was still trying to use the one from the previous version. That took a bit of tracking down! And through it all the doorbell kept ringing - three flights of stairs down to get to the door, and three back up to the computer each time.
I hope the afternoon will be quieter. Not least because one of the times when the doorbell rang, it was three new books arriving (one yoga, one ayurveda, and the Malcolm Kendrick Great Cholesterol Con). So if you don't hear from me, you'll know that either the internet security software has decided the safe thing is not to let me online at all, or I've found a quiet corner and lost myself in my new books ;).
Smoked haddock and scrambled eggs planned for lunch . Sausages for tea - my husband doesn't feel the weekend's really started until he's had sausages for tea :).

Good Morning. I just love the feel of having lifted weights in the morning. All powerful and confident. I think there's not much quite like it (maybe holding a handgun for some people, but weights are a lot healthier). Since current workout involves barbell, dumbbell, machine, resistance band, medicine ball, stability ball and bodyweight exercises, it's hard to tease out what's really driving the pump, but I'm gonna go on record with the barbell and dumbbell exercises. The band tires me out, brings me close to failure, but it just doesn't give me that feeling of accomplishment. The medicine ball is small (it's 4KG, but a lot smaller than a basketball), but moving the barbell with the big plates on it, that's a sense of something having been done, even if it was just moved up and down about two feet. GRRRR!!!
It's a friday, and due to the fact that I'm nearly maxed on overtime and liable to actually have overtime work to do in this rotation, I am gonna leave at the appointed hour to work exactly 80 hours this pay period. That's 4:10 for the people at home. Nice!
Wife made me dinner last night. On the Grill! She's a keeper. Gonna have to do something nice for her tonight! Pork Chops were delicious (Nantucket Rub Company's Mt. Olympus rub, which I always jack up with a little lemon juice or lemon infused Olive Oil). Have one left over for lunch today. Looking forward to it.
Actually, just looking forward to it all.
Today's Quote: From a woman who lost her weight the wrong way...
And when the evening comes we smile,
So much of life ahead
We'll find a place where there's room to grow,
And yes, We've just begun.
Yeah. Put in the work today, and when the evening comes, you will smile. There's a lot left out there to do and we can get more time to see it with days on plan.
The other 80% is about the room to grow. And truly, we've only just begun.
Rock on! Or Folk On! Whatever. Just get it on! In the Mills Lane sense, not the Marvin Gaye sense. Although that's good too.

We've ooooonnlly JUST BEGUN......toooooooooo smile.....soooooooooo manyyyy roadddddddsss to choose......
I may HAVE to break out the Carpenters CD now.
Anyways Max......lots of "love" felt from your post today! Good for you! :D
Last day of work before the BIG TRIP!!
The flight to Cancun is only three hours, and we leave at 11am so we'll be there for a little beach time on Sunday, then SEVEN FULL DAYS of beach ahead!!!
I, and my bikini's are PACKED and READY to go!
I went out and bought my "snacks" last night. I heard that the people I'm going with spend their evenings munching on chips, popcorn, and other carbtastrophy-inducing foods. I bought a peanut - sesame stick mix. There is 11 carbs in a serving, just hope I can keep it at ONE serving!! They are all larger people, and usually that visual keeps me in the mindset of WANTING to pay attention so I don't GAIN weight the weight back...PLUS, I'd hate to gain a bunch of water weight to have to SLOSH around while being so EXPOSED!!!:paranoid:
I have all day tomorrow to pack and clean, can't let the cat-sitters see all the cat hair!
I'll check in today and tomorrow, but they...it's sunny white beaches for ME!!!!

Amy that's so cool you are taking a REAL vacation. I've always longed for one, and have yet to actually have one. When I was married all of our vacation time was spent travelling to his family's house or mine, alternating between holidays. After the divorce, I was now a single mom with very little income putting myself thru school. There have been times when I had enough money to take a trip like that, but no one to go with. I'm now getting ready to graduate (hopefully in May) and then I think I'm going to do it. I'm just going to save the money and just take a REAL vacation, possibly by myself, lol.
I am soooo incredibly jealous of you (and happy for you at the same time)! Make sure to do some SCUBA diving! I don't know if you've ever done it, but it's amazing (even in MN), so I can imagine what it would be like there!!
Have an incrediable time, and make sure to spend some of *MY* carb allotment on a Mai Tai (sp?). With an umbrella in it. Laying in a chair on the beach. While the sun is setting. Hmmm, lol. I really need a vacation. Now I have resorted to living vicariously thru others.
My ex was REALLY into SCUBA diving...I've never done it. I went with her up north to dive in the mines for her deep-diving class.
I plan to sit on the beach or pool-side every day and have ONE fruity drink every day...I'll think of you at LEAST one of the days!
My worry is will I remember to drink enough WATER!!!
I spend a LOT of weekend time traveling with family - but I INSIST on ONE beach vacation a year! Usually it's Florida, but this year I'm going FURTHER SOUTH!!

You guys are just too good.
MSGQ,
Swiss Chard is much like a cross between spinach and beet stems. The leaves are milder but firmer and the stems have a slight sweet taste. The stuff grows like crazy and you just keep cutting it and it keeps growing.
The colored ones are a recent addition over the last 10 years and the stems are sweeter than the white variety.
Max,
THe Flaxseed is one of my wife's comfort foods if she needs a LC comfort food in the early evening. You grind up an ounce or two and add a bit of sweetener and warm cream. It comes out like a cross between Pablum and Red River Cereal (a course 7 grain cereal).
I use it in a shake sometimes but is a chore to clean out of teh blender if you don't get it right away.

I use the golden flax seed , Randy. I think you suggested it long ago and it goes really well in a protein shake, gives you fiber and lots of other goodies. And the golden flax is zero carbs (all fiber)
Haven't tried it as a porridge type food, but I think I will give it a shot tomorrow at breakfast. So you don't even cook it or anything--just add warm cream and sweetner? (So tired of eggs, I really want to like this. )
I bet a little dash of cinnamon would go well too.

I don't have it that often (few times a year) since I try to avoid eating in the evening but my wife does not cook it and she has it almost once a week. As well she is gradually shifting to Low Fat - Low Carb so uses skim milk:suspicious:   . Her SIL is a Nurse/Practitioner and really pushing Low Fat. There is even a low fat condensed milk (higher in carbs) that is always artound the house.
The Cinnamon would definitely add to it.

By hazard, I meant I wasn't gonna guess. I used to use flax the first time I did LC. Now, I like taking fish oil for Omega 3 and FiberSure for fiber. Hated texture of flax in anything. I dunno why.
Broccoli on the other hand, is something I have never eaten. Perhaps someday. I'm reading a book on making deep changes, and the vegetable issue is definitely a deep personal change.
