I did it. #1.

Amazing.

I have to get ready for work, so I can't say much right now. Just excited for a whole new PP day.

Scholar A. Rose's thoughts on yesterday's topic, patience:

Said woman take it slow
Things will be just fine
You and I'll just use a little patience
Said sugar take the time
'Cause the lights are shining bright
You and I've got what it takes to make it
We won't fake it, Oh never break it
'Cause I can't take it

Randy, Gabe, Deke (if you're still out there), just cause we're not women, doesn't mean we should take it fast.

Also of note, I think his use of Sugar, being something to take the time with, definitely of interest.

Lastly, his parting thoughts on the subject...

I've been walking these streets at night
Just trying to get it right (Need some patience, yeah)
It's hard to see with so many around
You know I don't like being stuck in a crowd (Could use some patience, yeah)
And the streets don't change but maybe the name
I ain't got time for the game
'Cause I need you (Patience, yeah)
Yeah, yeah well I need you
Oh, I need you (Take some patience)
Whoa, I need you (Just a little patience is all we need)
Ooh, this ti- me....

Oddly, Mr. Rose must never have found his way to this board. This is a crowd I don't mind being "stuck in". But, clearly, with some patience, and his Leslie Sansone "Night Street Walking Workout" are clearly going to yield results.

Off to work. See you post workout.

I hate starting the thread --Acutally Anniesnan did and Max simulatneous, so I stuck Anniesnan in here! Sorry for the edit folks.

But, if I don't then I won't post in the AM ('cos most of you aren't up as early as I am) - and I'm finding it's something very helpful for me.

I took many psych classes when I was in college, but a quote in one stays with me (unfortunately, the name of the man who said it doesn't - something with an "S", either first name or last, a contemporary psychologist, author of a book on Family Psychology.

People prefer the certainty of misery, to the misery of uncertainty.

And that's what fuels me, sometimes, I think, to sabotage myself. Not just when trying to change my WOE, but whenever I try to change anything about myself.

I'm making changes, small baby step changes, but changes!
And I will keep making changes. And when I take a couple of steps back, like I did yesterday at lunch, well, they were baby steps back and then I took extra steps forward yesterday.

I added in an exercise session - not equal to what many of you are doing, but more than I had been. I drank 32 more oz of water. I watched a movie and didn't put anything into my mouth other than the water.
I got out all my low carb cook books and made a fabulous new recipe for dinner...

Chicken Paprikash. I didn't "quite" have all the ingredients, so I substituted a little (all low carb, though) and it was delicious. So, I wrote down my changes, too!

Have a great day, everyone, and keep making those baby step changes!

Alrighty, this is me!

"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of
challenge and controversy."

*Martin Luther King Jr.

Since we are already very well started off--thanks Anniesnan and Max, just a thought from MLK about adversity. It is our ultimate measure not where we stand when it is easy but where we stand up straight and tall when it is difficult.

There is no better place to throw something like this into our thought patterns than around eating and doing what is good for a healthy body. Everyday we need to be reminded that maybe the scale won't rise if we have 9 bazillion carbs on one day, but who are we cheating? The scale doesn't care Michelle, but you do and most certainly your metabolism does. :)

Take care to meet adversity wherever you are or go today, your life is really depending on it!

Have a great day everyone! Check in later!

Oh the star of the day...Ammy Missy has already done it, and not like she is quiet and we have to pry her out, how about Brigit Carol today as our shinning star!!

Good Morning Max, nice to see you up and at 'em so early. I guess you're official since you posted a whole minute before Agnes.

Trying to figure why the new folks (and the crazy one) are ganging up on me to make my life miserable. Blatently tormenting me, teasing, goading, it's just not fair. The newbies are supposed to be shy and a little reserved initially, right? The other one's been crazy since I got here and I don't expect that will ever change, so I guess just gotta deal, and show all these nutso's I've got what it takes.

It's nice to know I have a new FRIEND in Stephie, right Stephie? You're not going to turn against me yet, ARE YOU  ?

It's too bad really, that they forced me into forgoing my beloved scale for a week. I'm soooooooo close to the mark. They won't know now.........H***, I won't know, the exact day, the exact minute that occurs. Maybe I won't tell you either. I'll just keep it to myself until "official" weigh and measure on February 1st when I post my "NEW" weight in my signature......Hmmmm.

Having serious clothes issues here. I bagged 10 grocery bags full of clothes from my closet.....not the 1st time I've downsized either......Got rid of a lot of favorite things there was really no point in keeping anymore. Wore a pair of pants yesterday (just bought them a month ago) that I had to keep hiking up all day yesterday. They gotta go too. I'm going to definately be in trouble soon. I don't have much that is below a size 20. I have a couple pairs of pants and a couple of shirts but that's about it. Definately going to have to hit Goodwill this weekend or I'll be naked soon :jawDrop:

Just a quick post -I 've got to get to work too!

Michelle, definately not turning against you, I am with you on this scale thing. In fact, I've put the scale in the hall closet so I'm not tempted to step on it. I'm approaching a bit of a milestone too - would love to find out on Monday that I made it!

I did some closet cleaning and rearranging yesterday. Found two new pairs of "goal" jeans - hoping both pairs fit by the time vacation starts on Feb 23. I can button and zip both pairs, but wouldn't try to sit or leave the house like that. :)

I'm looking forward to when I can start bagging up all of my too-big clothes! I'm ready for a new wardrobe! :D

OK, off to work - I'll check in again during lunch.

Hope everyone has a great day. I'm getting ready to let the poultry out and tote water down to them. Lost water in the house late morning yesterday, and it will probably be a couple of days before the pipes thaw out enough to run. Just hope they didn't break, but no sense worrying about it until it thaws. At least there's still running water in the pump house and I can bucket it in. For the first four years of my life we didn't have running water in the house and then only cold water until I was 10, so thankfully taking a bath by bucket doesn't faze me. Reminds me of the "good old days" NOT! ;)

Let's all have a POP (perfectly on plan) day! :)

Michelle, could I possibly be in this 'newbie' category??? Gosh I SURE hope so!!!!! Just think of the strength of CHARACTER you're building without the use of a scale!! Yeah...CHARACTER!! You're quite a CHARACTER all right...wait, is that what I meant??

For those who commented in yesterday's challenge about my being careful with the Pneumonia...
I will be careful and I will not over do it. I will not extend myself any further than I have for the last 10 days, and tonight I promise to sit in front of my tv (after a light strength workout) and watch episodes from Season Three of Monk (LOVE that show!!). When I go outside (it's minus 5 degrees this am) I will wear my neck muff and pull it up over my mouth and ears (can't wear a hat--THE HAIR THE HAIR), and I will walk in the skyways instead of on the streets whenever possible. Okay??

...ohhh.....huuhh.....sigh....I got ALL EXCITED..:D ..then DUMPED! LOL

Well....dumped for a FAR better WOMAN than I!...so, I can live with it! :D

Brigit Carole....I can NOT imagine your life! LOL..but I certainly DO enjoy hearing about it! :D To me...and I know you'll take this with the amusing intent that I'm saying it in....but, to ME, you are the closest thing to AMISH ~ but you have ELECTRICITY!!!!! :D lol My your pipes NOT be frozen!!!!!

Billie....Adversity in MY LIFE is what brought me here where I'm am and was....but that's NOT a bad thing, in my eyes. Adversity made ME the person I am today, and now that I'm past the anger and depression part of it..well, I realize that I'm a very compassionate, open minded, contented, happy person...and the adversity I face today, is NOTHING compared to what I've been through....therefore isn't insurmountable. I've been through WORSE. Amen! lol

Michelle, dear, too bad, get over it, NOT buying it, this is good for you! :D I wonder if AMMY knows your talking SMACK about her? :paranoid: LOL

Missy

Oh AMMY! You went and slipped IN there! NOW I don't make SENSE again!....sigh!!!!!!! lol ~ I like to leave it though for posterity! :D

Yes, I forgot to comment on your pneumonia! I think one year I must have had that and it didn't get diagnosed. Since then I tend to have it semi-sorta "return" on me year after year whenever I get a cold...and it's not fun. Not at all! Just rest, and relax and recover...I hear though that getting ONLINE and OFTEN is good for you though! It is. lol

...oh, and, I don't THINK your the "newbie" she's talking about...sorry, I fully read it as though YOU were the "craaaaaaazyy one"...;) so sorry. It's really sad that it's come to this....and I know it's HARD to have me say it so bluntly to you...but YOU are obviously in DENIAL about it honey, that's OKAY though, I'm here for you....there there. lol

Since we're all hot with Dr. King quotes (the guy was a quote machine I tell you), I thought I'd share one that no lesser light than Secretary Chao (the Secy of Labor, and the Big Celebrity in this building, she;s like Tom Cruise and Oprah all wrapped into one in these parts) shared with us Yesterday (when no one was at work):

…everybody can be great because everybody can serve…Ultimately, we are all great here, because we all serve each other and the community as a whole as well. At least, that's how this amateur economist sees it.

So, to rip this into a Jesse Jacksonism,

Continue to be great, and you will surely lose the weight!

(is it me or does rhyming undercut the importance of the issues under discussion?)

Oh yeah, forgot.
It is not 10 AM yet, but I have:
Eaten two meals (63G protein, 6G carbs)
Worked out (abs, including 1 47 second Bridge) and strength (best edition of this circuit yet).
Installed Firefox at work (Thank you LisaS)
Put in the PimpZilla theme (it's tacky, but it's tacky)
And updated my retirement spreadsheet (markets were good on Friday!)

Rest of day: I plan to buy lunch from the vendors here, so carved turkey probably, hopefully some green beans, but might work some fruit or melon in. Snack #2 is Brie Torte thing I made (have to calculate nutrition on it... four ingredients / 8, thank Me that I built a spreadsheet for this). Dinner is I dunno what. Maybe pork chops, maybe chicken, maybe Dreamfields. I dunno.

I read something interesting about "being on plan" and how to track this for a different diet. If I can find it again, I will share. Any rate, off to take pills and read Men's Health's daily dose.

Neat Article from LA Times on Sprint Intervals. The more I read about this, the more I want to commit to 2-3 Interval Sessions a week. I didn't do it today because I ran out of time, but I'm thinking I can do it tomorrow, then again on either Friday or Saturday.

I guess I should shut up and post the link. Okay, you asked for it:
http://www.latimes.com/features/health/la-he-interval15jan15,1,5158048.column?coll=la-headlines-health&ctrack=1&cset=true

(you might have to register for this, but it is a free registration... I didn't have to, but I am now browsing with Firefox that tends to dodge that kind of thing... thanks LisaS)

Sorry for picking on you Missy. I felt bad about missing you yesterday, and I was selecting in a hurry (I hate staying up that late). Actually I don't hate staying up that late. I hate getting up the morning after.

As usual, the day started on a dead run. But the scheduling gods were good to me today. I have help in the computer center for 2 whole hours. That means I have time to do other things. He will do most of the routine assigning people to computers, giving out headphones, making reservations, etc. And he is one of the real sharp folks. He can provide the patrons with computer help, thereby giving me some breathing room.

I'm being real tight with my carbs today because I'm gong to a friend's house tonight for dinner. I know it isn't the best way to count carbs, but it will keep me close to on plan. She will have a big salad as well as other things so that will help. I just hope she has forgotten that 2 of us have birthdays this week and doesn't have a cake or something.

I got through the night without my hip waking me up. I didn't do the bike last night and this is the first morning after a workout that my hip wasn't killing me. I think I'm off the bike for a while.

Gotta' get moving. Talk to you later.

Ah, found the thing I was looking for...

The 90% Necessity.

After writing about 1000 words on this, I think it's too confusing and not applicable to what we're up to. If I simplify, I could say that you basically need to be on plan at least 90% of the time to make real progress. Going forward, or looking back, when you look at results, ask if you were on plan at 90%.

I am going to start asking this of myself a little more, though I have been on plan every day this month and plan to do so until my birthday weekend in February.

GO HOME!!!!!
Okay OKAY, I'll go home...in about 6 hours!! ;)
Thank you Dr Sherry...

I have been living off of Ricola Green Tea sugar free cough suppressants. The bag says 3 drops are a "free exchange" and 9 drops=1 fruit...they're made with aspartame...any idea what that means carb-wise? I also have Halls SF citrus drops which say they are 3 carbs but that the carbs are sugar alchohols.
Can anyone interpret exchanges?

Never take to heart my foolishness Boow Bonnie Banana. Never. I do it (act up) for the FUN of it, ALWAYS remember that! lol :D

Ammy...I have NO answer for you....sorry. But, well, does it REALLY matter...I mean, if you NEED ONE EAT ONE!!!!! okay, well, I understand, just KNOWING is important. I have NO CLUE though.

Max, I'm definitely "on plan" at the very least 90% of the time, but WHAT does it say about POSTING 100%?!!!! :D THAT I have COVERED! :D

"Continue to be great, and you will surely lose the weight!"
I love it!!!:D

Started with a great shake, some more snow shovelling and 35 minutes at the work gym.

Last month I had learned that 80% of your muscle mass is below your navel. For better weight loss (increased Muscle Mass "Musce Burns Fat") the quickest benefit comes from building up those muscles. Although I've always had strong legs there was a little bit of looseness and I decided to target those muscles.

Since December I have been working the 80% at the gym, and with ankle weights, leg extensions/stretches, and squats/short repetative seat squats at home. I hace a protein shake before and follow up with one afterwards as well.
Except for the last bit of inner/upper thigh my legs are now quite solid and hold the tone between workouts.

Cool! Question though:

Since we don't believe in spot reduction, how has your upper body done over the same period?

The story we hear is that a lb of muscle burns something like 50 cals per day, just watching golf on TV. I suspect it burns more if you do something that creates an afterburn type effect like sprint interval cardio work.

I have noticed, since starting the workouts, that my calves are a lot tighter, my thighs are tighter as well. My arms, particularly forearms are a lot tighter as well. Neck more defined, and I haven't even done neck work.
But I'm doing a balanced kind of full body workout.

Reminds me, I think, starting Friday, I'm going to up my abs work to two circuits of my five core exercises (Stand Crunch, PulseUp, ObliqueVUp, Bridge, and Back Extension). Actually, make that starting Thursday, since that's the soonest I can do abs on proper rest again. I think workout schedule for the rest of the week looks like this:

Wednesday: Sprint Intervals - 20 mins (upright bike if it's open)
Thursday: 2 Circuits of Core Exercises, at home before work (set alarm for 5:30 and hope I don't bug the wife too much... need to find way to work lower back w/o back extension station... am thinking light weight deadlift)
Friday: 2 circuits of Strength + Sprint Interval - 20 mins (bike/row/tread)

Any rate, am glad you are seeing such good results Randy. Oops, just remembered. So, 80% is below navel, 50% below belt level, which means that 30% is lower back, low abs/obliques. So, nice set of things to add in might be some kind of back work, and a couple of low ab, oblique exercises.

Rock on.

HEY!
last night I ate half of a coconut cake with creamy frosting and half a cookie jar of oatmeal cookies. Somewhere in there I began to panick. I could not beilieve I was doing that.
I woke up. I was so relieved that it was only a dream!!!!!!!!!
Today I did my cardio sprints. Next is out to shovel snow. Band practice is here tonight and the snow will get all packed down and get ruts with all the cars and vans. Great stomach excersize, pushing snow.
Randy..You are right about the muscles in the lower half. It's curious how when you work them out like crazy, you start to lose fat on the top half.

Amy , there is a point where pneumonia can be irreversable. It scars the lungs forever. YOu may want to listen to Sherry. You need to rest to get over pneumonia.

MAx your weight loss is looking good..Your planning and staying on plan shows in the ticker. You have really helped me to do the same and get going again with the weight loss.
All you scale junkies...The scale is not bad if it does not disappoint you or discourage you everytime it goes up a bit from water weight if you know you have been on plan.If it causes you to binge or think bad of yourself , then by all means get rid of it. If you realize this and it keeps you ON plan when you go up and down...then what is the deal???

Glad to help.

I concur on the scale junkie piece. It's only really a problem if it becomes a real problem (thank you Yogi Berra). What I mean is, if you can handle the fluctuations and whatnot without getting discouraged and upset, weigh yourself 8 times a day. Well, maybe that's problematic, but you get the point. If, however, you are going to be driven batty by every half pound movement, maybe the scale should stay hidden.

Any rate, the two caveats that go with everything I say:
1- Your mileage may vary.
2- Your body, your science experiment.

Rock on!

Hi, all!

I've been here a while, but it takes me at least an hour to read all the posts from yesterday and today!

Billie, love the quote. I'd say that I do better under adverse conditions. Guess I focus a lot better.

Ammy, listen to all your cyber mothers, and GO HOME!

Missy, honey, you're not crazy, that's someone else's voice in your head.

Winter is definitely back! It was in the 20's when I did my walk this morning, and it will be in the teens tomorrow morning. I know that's wussy for all you snow bunnies, but that's COLD in these parts!

The meeting went well last night. I think we made a lot of progress, but we still have a long way to go!

Not much going on today. I've been requested to compose a poem or a song for a retirement dinner that's on Thursday night. Guess it's time I started working on that, huh? There's that focus thing.

Enjoy the day!

I think that's JUST the thing Max and Hawk...and gladly you two and I aren't ONE of those people...but I can CERTAINLY understand those who are (I was one at ONE POINT in my life)

Heck, I'm all for weighing myself whenever I feel like it...but it's THOSE whom can't rationalize that it's just a number..and they DO get wrapped up into it emotionally...whether its a constant source of a great HIGH because it's gone lower....which then results in a PANIC when it's not moving like it has....that THERE lies the "junkie" part of it. It's an addiction NOT unlike other addictions.

By allowing themselves to give themselves a BREAK from it, they then can, IF they listen closely enough to themselves learn to rely on the "feel" of weight loss....which is actually, in MY opinion, more beneficial as a guide.

BUT....to each his own.

Checking in...

Hawk, I've had dreams like that. I consider them nightmares! :paranoid:

Congratulations, BC! I'm popping today; I had pizza for breakfast instead of my shake and it worked out to about the same number of carbs and protein. I get bored with routine, even though it keeps me from having to dig up the numbers. Now I need to find a way to get the lethicin and fish oil in. Maybe a shake when I get home from work.

I feel good today and my knee is considerably better this morning.

Hi, everyone!

Cool! Question though:

Since we don't believe in spot reduction, how has your upper body done over the same period?Any rate, am glad you are seeing such good results

I don't believe all of it is from fat loss since the BF analyzer shows only a 1% change. Much of it is just from maintaining muscle tone/definition.
What I do notice is that any time you can keep up regular exercise and push it a bit, you maintain "firm feeling muscle". It is most noticeable in your arms since they are right there and you tend to see or feel them. With lower muscles you don't pay as much attention and when you do see the changes it seems more pronounced.

Randy. Oops, just remembered. So, 80% is below navel, 50% below belt level, which means that 30% is lower back, low abs/obliques. So, nice set of things to add in might be some kind of back work, and a couple of low ab, oblique exercises.

Rock on.

I've never heard that 30% number but it makes sense other than my belt is only an inch under my navel. :D
There is a back press machine that I use every gym visit for both back Pecs by using handweights with it. At the end of the move/extension you unfold your arms and get some Pecs work.
http://www.lastoutpost.com/images/Transfer/gym.JPG

Using hand weights (12s or 15s) held to the chest you press back until laying flat and then extend your arms with the weights staight out until just above the floor. It really stretches the Pecs and you "bounce" three times to maximize the stretch to your Pecs. Although it leaves incredible DOMS in your Pecs the first few times, the way we eat strengthens that stretched muscle very quickly.

p.s. On the right is a exercise bike that I like when set on "Mountain" as well. I don't know where I would put it but I have asked friends to be on the lookout for a used one for home. I'm hoping to find one for $50.00 at a yard sale. Even if it has to go in the furnace room it is a productive workout and generates more sweat than the other pieces.

Thank you, everyone!!!

For what? Did I miss something?? No, none of you did :D .

I've been having an out-of-balance, out-of-whack, weird day feeling all morning.

It makes me feel restless, impulsive, and imprudent. First day like that I can remember, I had no breakfast or lunch, had 2 short guzzles of Boonesfarm Apple Wine and finished off my "meal" in a guzzling (of Johnnie Walker) contest with my brother and our good friend. Approximately 24 hours later I woke up, thanks to my brother's willingness to get himself in trouble when I passed out and my mother forcing me to vomit.

Another time, I went and cut my hair in a 4" mullet and put a 3rd piercing in my left ear.

Came home at lunch today feeling that way and read through all these posts and it's gone. Don't know why, but it's all good :D .

I am so grateful Max started off the day and even more grateful that Billie somehow posted my post :D :D .

Love the quote, Billie.
Michelle, you can do it. You don't need the scale - the clothing shows you better than the scale how you've progressed! And if you want to weigh yourself, well, it'll be a lot better for you than what I did at lunchtime yesterday:o

Brigit-Carol, I spent the first 12 summers of my life in a house with no running water, we did have an electric pump though, and no heat or telephone. I am so not a phone junkie and know that while it is not the nicest or easiest thing, I could live without running water in the house. Of course, back then, until the summer they had to re-drill the well, it was "fun". I admire your self-sufficiency!

Amy, hope we haven't been s/mothering too much! But we've enjoyed your "company" and don't want you to be too exhausted to post!

Continue to be great and you will surely lose the weight!
I love it, too!!!

Ugh, what a day. My body temp dropped to 97 today and I am really feeling it, (going without thyroid). 2 more days and I get to start the new protocol. I'm just hanging on today.I need to get eating. Yesterday I exercised half of my goal and kept on the diet fine. I'm just happy I haven't gained any weight without my thyroid medication. I was worried that I might.

DEUS MEI!
This is SO GOOD!

In the spirit of other people trying new recipes and what not, and me being intrigued by expanding snack options (if you haven't been following, I am currently eating 5-6 meals a day, 2-3 of which are small snacks), I finally put together the Brie Recipe Thing yesterday. I guess I will call it a torte.

I just ran the numbers on this and, being conservative on the non-carby items (Prosciutto) and liberal on the carby ones (apples, ground almond), it runs like this:

1 Serve (makes 8 small pieces)
195 Calories (if you count, I don't but Fitday does, so I do, in an academic way)
Fat: 15.4 G (9g Sat, .6 Poly, 4.5 Mono)
Cho: 2.4 G (.5G fiber so 1.9 ECC)
Pro: 12.2G
With notable (10% or higher RDA) of:
Calcium, Riboflavin, B-12, and Phosphorus

And it's delicious. In spots salty (it is a little sodium rich from Brie and Prosciutto, 439mg), and in parts sweet (after looking up nutrition info on apples, what specifically keeps the doctor away, the fiber?), and in all, yummy.

Recipe, roughly:
Get a Brie Wheel, the small one, about 400g weight.
Put it in the freezer for 30-60 minutes
Cut Brie in half to make two discs, then remove rind (I suppose you COULD eat the rind, but I do not care for it at all)
On cut side (the big round one), lay out two layers of prosciuttio, two layers of thinly sliced apple, two more layers of prosciutto, and the other side of the brie.
Press together firmly, then roll in ground almond (makes it easier to handle)
Wrap in plastic, and let sit out for a bit (you want it a touch melty, but just a touch).
After Meltiness is achived, dump it back in the freezer for a bit (to make it easier to handle, cut into eight pieces, and wrap individually. Each serving will be approximately what I described, nutrition-wise above.

Oh yeah, and delicious.

I changed it.

Hrm, in the spirit of accomplishment, I did manage to make a chart and revise it twice for my masters before the head master apparently left to go to the hospital. I am to the point where I am counting the days and trying to figure the best spots to take extra leave (Feb 16 is looking good, since I have 4 all day trainings from Feb 12-15).

I did manage to dig the info on

my Big Brie creation...

Twas a terrible big bang
Twas the ultimate mutation
Ying was searching for his yang
And he looked and he saw that it was good.

(I will be officially surprised if anyone catches that reference)

And I found a lower back exercise that doesn't use weights or equipment, so I can now do a full set of ab work at home! Behold, the Superman

Hi everyone!
*I apologize if this shows up twice - I've been trying to reply but network issues make it difficult*

Wow, that walk with my Mom yesterday literally kicked my BUTT! Her neighborhood is hilly, and she walks a route that takes her up every hill at least once, and some twice. Some are steep and long, some are a slow, long burn up, some are steep and short. Everytime I stand up today my butt screams at me. That's OK though. I'm going to drag it, kicking and screaming, into shape - and make it look good in jeans!

As far as the scale - I can be a bit of a scale junkie, I like to step on it a lot, but I don't let the number ruin my day. Of course, it does make my day to see a smaller number, but if I don't I know it's OK, it's that overall downward trend that I'm looking for. That being said - it can only be good to concentrate on doing what I know I should, and focus on how I feel!

Amy - just wanted to say I hope you are feeling better soon. And I agree with everyone else about taking it easy and getting more rest. :)

Brigit-Carol - I'm certainly trying for a POP day today! I like that abbreviation!

Randy - Thanks for sharing the interesting 80% factoid. You've really lost a lot of weight - you look like a stick on that machine! :)

Hawk - I was sitting here with my jaw on the floor reading about your "binge" - then got to the part where it was a dream (I'm so glad it was just a dream)! I'm not having any of those dreams yet.

Max - Thanks for the recipe, I'm always looking for new things to try. Thanks also for the "Super(WO)Man" exercise - I've been thinking today that I need to make it a point to work more on abs and back.

Billie - You asked in Monitor Monday about the spaghetti squash lasagna. I got the inspiration from the recipe boards here. I didn't follow the recipe exactly. Basically just make lasagna as you normally would, substituting slightly cooked spaghetti squash for the noodles. I used the lowest carb count spaghetti sauce I could find and two pounds ground chuck. I did not use as much cheese as it called for. It is delicious. I had more for lunch today and it tastes even better reheated!

Becca - somewhere along the way you mentioned you live near Columbia/Irmo. I'm actually up your way a few times a year. I support an office in Columbia - it's near I-26 and Harbison, about 5 minutes from the mall there.

Sherry - I really hope your headache is better today! I'm still working on making exercise a permanent thing - I'm planning on an upper body workout when I get home tonight. Do you have any plans?

Michelle - Almost one scale-free day down! I hope you have great success finding smaller clothes at Goodwill. DH and I went to a few over the weekend, and I noticed the one closest to my house had a lot of nice clothes. I've already decided to check them out as I need smaller clothes. My bank account can't handle a brand-new wardrobe at every size between this and my goal! I think I'll buy a few nice basics as I drop, and fill in from Goodwill, eBay and consignment stores.

Our network/internet connection is up and down today. Although I am one of the computer people, I am not one of the network people, so resolving it is out of my hands. It's taken me a LOT of trying to get to the board and get this written, so I'll close for now.

I'll be back tonight!

Yes, Stephie, I have a plan! :D WHEN this SNOW gets off the trails, I'm BITING AT THE BIT to get back to walking! Six miles, M/W/F... six miles EACH day, that is! That's what I stick with... walking...

And, uh, MY jaw hit the floor over Hawk's cake as well!!! :paranoid:

Sherry - Six miles! WOW! OK, yes, you definately have a plan. I need to sit down and make some better plans. I've been easing into exercise - so I've been getting some, but I've just been doing what strikes me. It's certainly not a bad thing, but not as effective as a PLAN!

OK - note to self, plan complete by tomorrow night.

There's no place like home...There's no place like home...
Glad I woke up
I have been outside for 4 hours shoveling snow. It is at least 8 inches and wet. We have 16 piece band practicing at our house tonight. We have a long driveway and a very large parking pad here enough to park 6 cars and then alot of cars behind them and up the driveway. I did it all before my husband comes home because the state highway plow took out our mailbox. Just snapped it off and it had mail in it. So I rescued that. I can see the ground is not frozen solid, but we probably got no mail today and will not get any till the mailbox is back up. Job for G'man.
you can trade my avatar with AMMY. That's what I looked like all day. I loaded the woodstove twice. The hardwood floors in here are all toasty warm . My face still looks all windburned . I am off to a hot soak. I did not need to do Max's back excersizes today.)(shoveling was enough)..but I will use them for the future. I work out at home now, with out machines and that looks like a good one.
I love that machine in Randy's picture thought. It really feels good on your back.

SherryJ

Y'all need to click on Ammy's profile, and SEE what she REALLY looks like!

Hawk... I not only saw the SUN today, but there's ONE patch of road that can be seen... And, when I say patch, I mean a spot of no more than 2' in diameter.

LOL, Stephie... I thought that might get you! ;) I started in March, with 3 miles WHEN I could do it. I got to 3 miles 5 times a week, and even to my nemesis of 4 MPH once! :D In August, a GF asked to walk with me, and could we use her trail? Sure! Sooo, we did... and I KNEW it was MORE than 3 miles!!! Turned out it was five, and EVERY single step I took about killed me... NOW, my body ITCHES to get in a six miler!! Shadow said it would happen... I just took her word for it, and lo & behold, it did!

Max I could've told you about the superman, all you had to do was ask. That was on my list of stuff back in the November challenge.

Stephie that is very close to me (obviously as Irmo isn't exactly large). My son works at that mall on his breaks from school (for now).

Lynn sorry to hear about your mailbox. Hopefully the G'man can get it fixed soon.

Sherry (even if you're not a challenger ;) ) WTG on the 6 miles!

Evening everyone!
Max, buena sera!

Had a pretty good day overall.
Breakfast was almost 2 hardboiled eggs and 2 slices of bacon, but I wasn't hungry, and couldn't eat hardly any of the whites.

Lunch, on the other hand, was delicious! I sauteed two chicken breast "filets" in 1 tbsp of olive oil with rosemary, thyme, garlic, pepper, and salt. Fillling and good.

DH has a meeting tonight and DD was over and wanted to "girl talk", so I said, "Let's WALK and TALK!" So we did. With the devildog, too. He and I are pooped and DD, who had appendix surgery less than 3 weeks ago is cleaning out her former bedroom.

Man was it cold walking - we finally got some cold weather!!!

Dinner, I decided on Sloppy Jose. Was going to have Sloppy Giuseppe - with a bruschetta mix, instead of just tomato sauce, but then decided to go Mexican, with monterey Jack cheese and a little guacamole I found.

Also got in some arm work and some leg work today.

Finally did some more reading in PPLP - Almost through Chapter 8 now!!!

Hi all...first day without co-worker/best friend and what happens...other co-worker calls in sick so I was all alone doing the job of 3...survived it without ripping anyone to shreds. Between the phones and the counter there wasn't time to do much of anything. Now I'm at the store filling in for Michael who's at a doctor appointment. Maybe if I could clone myself I could have my clone cover for ME sometime.

I wonder how much it would cost to hire a temp to be me for a day. I stayed on plan today although I don't have the official carb/protein counts. I'm sure I was within range.

The pumpkin muffins I made yesterday without any dairy or eggs or wheat that I whined about actually were much better today after spending the day in the refrigerator.

The docs that wrote the Carb Addicts Book recommend weighing everyday but then taking an average of your daily weighings as your body weight goes up and down every day. If you do that, I think it takes the pressure off looking at it every single day.

Carbs: 30-50
Protein: >63
Water: Every droplet
Supps: Of course!!!
Workout: Yeah right!!
+1: No peaking at the scale

Oh plan day eating but everything else is not so good. Lost a HUGE portion of my program book for the fundraiser, actually I didn't but someone who "borrowed" my computer to try to do somethings did. I have been so careful with this program book, it is pushing my computer skills to the very last skill I have so greatly not in my comfort zone. But hey, it could have been worse! Right? Sure it could have!
Thanks Max, I really appreciate you doing that!

Ammy great picture, how would have known is right!

Brigit Carol...if you need some help picking let me know! ;)

Mary, I haven't had time to even send you a quick note, hope things will get better soon.

Becca good to see you here

Everyone I am just kind of out of sorts tonight, not like me so going to indulge myself a little bit with some bubbles--no not champagne a bath!

I am addicted to food. It's been 22 minutes since I ate last.
I am addicted to nicotine. I'm smokin' one now.
I am addicted to my scale. It's been 36 hours and 52 minutes since I last weighed

Max....that exercise is on my Cardio Bands DVD, for the lower back. Doing that exercise is how I first realized I had ribs (bones hitting carpet)

Stephie...I'm glad you're with me....giving up some things is always easier with a FRIEND.

"St. Paul".....it's gonna take a while for you to kick this thing. rest, drink plenty of liquids, do breathing exercises, keep your face covered when you go outside....well I guess you can uncover your eyes, wouldn't want you to fall and break something.

Hawk....and here I thought I was the only person shoveling snow this winter. (Sherry's got all those men to do her bidding in that department).

Hello to everyone else. You are certainly not forgotten by me....(especially the CRAZY one...like anyone can forget her), or out of my thoughts as you all progress through the day.

By the way.....I gave my sister the website to get in here.
WHATEVER YOU DO....TELL HER NOTHING......IT'S NOT ME, I DIDN'T DO IT.

After a holliday, the first day back in busy, to say the least.

Amy, glad you went home, hope you stay home untill you are feeling better. Pneumonia is nothing to sneeze at.

Sherry, wow, you go girl, six miles/day! Whoppie!
I can hardly wait for the trails to dry out so I can walk in the park again.

Good news, Sweetie, back from the vet today, is doing much better, for now. She is being controlled well by the meds, so I am so relieved.

Here is my numbers for today:

ECC:33.5, PRO:73
WATer/supps/yes./no exercise today, except for going up and down stairs today. I am trying to go up 2 flights at a time to increase my exercise and gradually increase them untill I can climb up the 9 flights to my office.

Hi All,

Just checking in before going to bed.

I had the usual great time with the other fiber nuts tonight. Dinner didn't go as badly as it might have. I went to dinner tonight having consumed only 4 carbs all day. My protein numbers were right on target.

Dinner was a large salad, a 3x3 piece of vegetarian lasagna, and about a 1/4 cup of sugar free ice cream. I also had a glass of red wine. I passed the garlic bread which was a killer and made sure that the bread basket stayed at the opposite end of the table.

I had all my water and my supplements. Exercise is tomorrow.

Good night,

Bonnie

Hi Virginia! ANOTHER TRIP ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!! GGEEESH! lol (just kidding) HOW EXCITING! Hope your hubby is back on his feet, and chasing YOU soon! LOL ~ you newly weds YOU! good to see you!

Thank you babe!! (I think...:paranoid: )
Yes, another trip... I'm so excited!!! And I hope to lose some weight more for that date... although lastly I'm a bit blocked... maybe I have to look for some hidden carbs or just wait... I know my metabolism is soooooo slow, but this woe is supposed to accelerate the losing of weight, so I don't know why I'm not losing weight more quickly...
Anyway, I have the whole life to get my targets, so I don't have to worry... don't you think?:D

About hubby... I have forced him LITERALLY to start this WOE, because the doctor told him that his problems with leg are caused by the weight, and so he should lose about 20-25 kg... He was almost following PP, because I cook for both of us, and I don't buy any sweets or bread to have them at home... but sometimes he eats in restaurants, or try some toasts, and I think that is the problem...

Well, I'll go on telling you about my travel, ok?:D
