Wow.....it's a De'ja vu moment. I remember this from last Sunday...It's 6:23 MST and everyone is still sleeping.....SLUGS :D It's not gonna fall off in your sleep...
UP AND AT 'EM EVERYONE!!!
Good day yesterday....not gonna blow it today.
Daughter going to her Dad's this morning, supposed to stay overnight since she doesn't have school tomorrow (yeah, we'll see if that happens). Gonna finish cleaning/rearranging my house today ( I still hurt from yesterdays activities), might try and get in a little formal exercise, we'll see.
Amy....Oh AMY.......AMY!!!! Definately looking forward to hearing from you today.
I'm not entirely caffeinated yet, so my brain is hardpressed to form any intelligent, intellectual, stimulating converstation this morning. I'll try again later.
Good Morning all.

Know your limits...but never stop trying to exceed them.
- Anonymous
Overcoming your personal "stop signs"
Many of us use our "limitations" as a stop sign for reaching our goals. While knowing our limits can safeguard us against injury and embarrassment, too often we use them as avoidance methods in our lives. Us?
What is holding you back from reaching your goals? How can you push beyond your comfort zone in a healthy way? Many dieters experience such limitations in on their weight loss journeys. Our bodies and minds are capable of overcoming much more than we could ever imagine if we just try.
Today set new goals that may push you a little. Overcoming your personal hang ups and fears may be one of the most rewarding choices you'll ever make. From Sparkspeople
We can't be afraid to achieve or make our goals. Being afraid to do that really chains us to the bedpost and insures that we fail. But it is not so easy to change our thinking is it? Making some small goals for yourself may help. Just a little outside that comfort zone will help you make a step, even if it is a baby one, and then the next and the the next and pretty soon you are shooting for the moon and making it!
Oh AMMMMMMMMMMYY :) can you show us how to do that today? Angiesnan and I were on the same page before I even read her "pigeoning" you...so I think we got a winner for the day. And Angiesnan, ;) what a great effort yesterday, thanks so much for your inspiration and whip crackin!

Billie, thank you for such an inspiring quote and commentary. I limit myself a lot due to fear of failure. Need to get past that one.
I'm staying home this morning since the forecast is for freezing rain and I don't drive in those conditions unless I absolutely have to. (Can you tell I'm a Southern girl?) Spend an extra hour this morning in "Sunday devotions" and as soon as I post this will go check out a couple of sermon sites. Actually that is what I got on-line to do, but couldn't resist checking by here first.
Instead of turkey soup yesterday I make black bean salsa soup using black soy beans-- very spicey and very low carb. I'll finish that today.
Have a great day, everyone!

Billie,
Great quote as usuall.
My stop signs were that I didn't follow through with exercise.
I have been doing so much better, now that I am exericsing.
Congrats, Ammy on being the pigeon of the day.
I am still housebound as it is still raining, but now we are having freezing rain and flooding in some areas. Looks like it is an exercise tape for me today, again.
I am feeling better today. My dog is better and responding to the med change, (at least for now) and I am so thankful for that.
Will check in later.
Hugs,

Morning, all!
I am not fully caffeinated either - have been nursing the same cup I was drinking BEFORE dh & I went walking. Definitely need to make some.
Breakfast - 2 eggs & bacon
some coffee
took all my supplements and feeling the floating intestines
we walked.
Last night after posting I worked on my arms before bed. I have to clean out my cellar before I can find my dumbbells, so I've been using two cans of evaporated milk :D .
I really need to clean, but I'm not in the mood:rolleyes:

Okay, now that I know what thread is the "official" one for the day I'll post ;)
Did my weigh/measure thing this morning. Had my "big whoosh" week apparently. Might also explain the mood this week too :)
Quiet around here today. I need to work on the dinner menu for the week, push at the DDs to get their laundry and room cleaning done and play taxi later. DH will be home which means I won't get much of anything done that I would like to do. Hopefully he'll get my ball done at least. Now that I think about it, I may hide in here all day and work on my "end of year" filing and get things in order for taxes. Course that'll translate into popping in here about every 10 minutes ;)
Think Happy Thoughts Today!

Quick report for the day:
Wife & I wlked up to the gym. Plan was to do an extra cardio workout for the week. I did it, doing the full set of sprint intervals (for those not keeping track it goes, with one minute rest intervals, 30s, 45s, 60s, 90s, 60s, 45s, 30s. Add a 4 minute warm up and cool down and you've got 20 mins), on a recumbant bike. Burned 145 Calories (Wednesday, on upright bike, did 125). Walked home with wife.
DW then proceeds to do 50 crunches (she crunches 50/50 lower and upper abs), so I do my ab workout, modified for home (12 crunches, 12 pulse up, 10/side olbique v-up + The Bridge (did 1 rep, 35 seconds)). DW then decided to do her 3 exercise, 1 dumbbell workout circuit. So, I did that too. Trickier than it looks. Any rate, three circuits of that (I did one circuit with the 20, did 1/3rd of remainder with the 20 as well, and stepped down to the 10 for the other two, man my shoulders are weak).
Any rate, have eaten 2 meals today (let's see, if I eat something at the movies (we're going to see Pan's Labrynth, report if I feel it's worthy), then something after the movies, then dinner, I will get to five. We shall see what I get up to). Any rate, for the day, here's the numbers:
Pro: 79
CHO: 9
Water: 1L
Pills: About to get what's left of them
Exercise: Abs routine + Strength Routine + Cardio Routine + 5000 steps and counting. It's been a busy day.

I'm not very good with a whip...but I am pretty skilled at "The Look"... which we all KNOW is more powerful than the WHIP--MISSY does a pretty good Look in her Avatar!
So being all-powerful today, I feel like I should try to impart some words of wisdom...and I can only pass on what I have learned from following the PP through the years...
When I first started in 1998, I was 27 years old and had already discovered the destruction of my body because of my eating. I had just been diagnosed with bursitis in my hips and arthritis in one of my knees (since then I have it in both knees). I felt I had to do something or I would have to live in assisted care at 40.
I was sitting in my living room with a coffee table in front of me COVERED in carbs...chips/dip, crackers/canned cheese, etc. and this was my plan for the day-watch tv and eat. This was my plan EVERY day I wasn't at work.
There was NOTHING on tv, so I accidently left it on an infomertial, and while between crunches I heard "you can eat steak and real butter" and decided to look up and listen. I listened to the entire infomertion and KNEW this was what I needed. I KNEW I had a problem with carbs (DUH) and so at the last showing of the phone number, I called and ordered the plan.
I started the morning after it arrived 4 days later...and I did it with a vengeance. Back then, they didn't have all these "low carb" options-so I spent my days learning how to eat differently, instead of looking for substitutes so I could continue with the foods I thought I needed. I gave up cookies and pizza completely...I gave up chocolate...ALL types of chocolate. I am the type of person that can't stop with one bite of these items, I don't care if they are HIGH carb or LOW carb, I will eat the entire thing-so I decided I didn't EVER need it...and I haven't had it since.
I learned that a meal could be satifying if it was meat and veggies and that breakfast was filling if it was protein and fruit. These were new concepts to me-I MISSED my carbs. I'm from Iowa originally-we eat meat and potatoes, and if a piece of corn happens to fall on our plate, well we can't let it go to waste, can we??
I also exercised. The only way I could sleep at night was to "warm up" my hip before crawling into bed, so I started walking. While following the plan, I had so much energy that when I started, I was barely able to walk 3/4 of a mile every day, and after 6 months was walking 5miles a day at a 10.5 minute mile - and usually doing one other thing like resistance walking in the pool, or a short bike ride.
It was new, it worked, and it was EXACTLY what I needed.
I'm not saying everyone should follow the plan like I did, just letting you know what worked for me...
So, what are YOU doing differently?
What permanent change have you made in your life from following the Plan?
What permanent change do you NEED to make?
I'll be here watching for you all today...and warming the LOOK for all of you that don't at LEAST pop your head it!
Anniesnan

Amy,
Missy does have the LOOK down, doesn't she :D .
When I first did PP 5 or 6 years ago (I'm a little fuzzy), wait, I realize I have a "touchstone marker" and it was spring 2000, so almost 7 years ago, I gave up bread and cereal and haven't gone back. My mind missed my toast, but my body surely didn't and after 20 minutes or so, I would feel satisfied in the am, unlike when I had the carbs, I'd be starving by 10. Unfortunately, I didn't stop anything else after I fell off the wagon in November of that same year, so I regained the weight, but did manage to almost eliminate the headaches.
Today, I decided to change up my cleaning routine a little. 15 minutes in each room. Didn't make much of a visible difference anywhere but in the "den" which needs like 3 more hours of throwing out and sorting and 5+ hours of filing and shredding, but at least now I feel like I have accomplished something. And I am pooped - so I'm taking a break
Good for you Annie!! It's amazing how the MIND can convince us of things that simply aren't true...good thing your body told you the TRUTH!!
A change to the cleaning routine!! Good choice!!

I'm here! I just realized I've been posting today, but never in today's thread.
Permanent Change I have made (or at least am working on making). I'm realizing that our bodies just aren't meant to run optimally on carb-age. For the rest of my life I want to remember this.
Permanent Change I am Working On: Exercise. I realize that I have to move my body on purpose if I want to be able to move it as much as I'd like. I'm getting there. I just wouldn't say it's permanent yet.
I only had 5 hours of sleep last night - so I think I'm off for a little nap. :)
WTG Stephie...VERY important change choices! YES, exercise IS very important, and we DO run better without the carbage!!
Hope you get some sleep in your nap!!
HELLO??!! Anyone else out there? I won't start distributing Looks yet cause I know it's Sunday afternoon, but if you don't check in by tonight, the LOOK is coming your way!!

OH GOOD HEAVEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNSSS I BETTER POST!!!!!! I'm ssskkkcaret...not! LOL
IF I could ONLY have a couple of HORNS on that avator of mine, LIFE would be COMPLETE! :D
Ammy, I like your list...all alphabetized and all!:D
I'm having a totally lazy day today..and GOOD, I like em'! It's so darn GRAY out...but well, keep your fingers crossed, hopefully we won't get the freezing RAIN that may or maynot happen for our area! No ICE please!
I'm completely on PLAN..and Miss. Billie, I'm becoming a BIG BIG fan of not living life within limitations! I'm getting better and better at it too, and it's LOADS of fun! :D Lifes just TOO SHORT...so LIVE and enjoy...not limit or judge!
I'm a BIG pusher against anything that I think is trying to set false limitations on ME..and it's made a MAJOR difference in the person I am on this day thus far! Great quote.
Miss Ammy....Great questions! I'm enthusiastically turning over EVERY STONE and doing it often and over and over again... to see what there is MORE I can/should do, and then do it! There's always room for improvement, but I'm going to make sure I do it safely and correctly! This has been what I've learned anyways!

Fantastic!! Love the concept of turning over EVERY stone...as many times as it takes!!
And Lil' Missy...you BETTER be scared!!!
Okay everybody...I'm going to leave now and head to the Mall of America to get some exercise...

Gollllllleeee darn, I had best better check in so I can get a big , I say BIG red Here by my name. I have read a couple of times today, just haven't settled down to write very much.
I had some carbquik pancakes and they were okay but not really worth the amount of carbs to get a good enough size breakfast. :peeved: I will try biscuits next. Should have done that this a.m. instead.
A permanent change for me will be to try new foods each week. I want to have a lot of variety in my meals so that I will be sure to make this a wonderful and permanent wol.
Will check in again once I get all my totals in for the day. I'm on target for the supps and water. Also I went up and down the basement stairs 6 times this morning. I have a goal to strengthen my legs so I will have an easier time mounting my horse. (Horsie will appreciate it too.);)

Missy! Behave yourself and play nice! :peeved:
Good job, Amy. :) Now get off my back! :jawDrop: It took me half the day to get here, which is worse than when I'm at work. I started working on photos and forgot to check in.
What's holding me back? Probably laziness. Poor time management? I don't think it's fear, but I will give it some thought. It could be the fear of not having enough to eat that I pinpointed when I was in OA. That has improved, but hasn't disappeared. It causes trouble with portion control.
Billie
01-14-2007, 03:44 PM
I think what Carol meant to say, is" What is holding her back"? I think she said not a darn thing!!! NOTHING IS HOLDING ANY OF US BACK!
Ammy you go get em girl!
Missy, kind of a lazy day here, although I cheered the Bears on the last quarter and OT. Doing the dishes, and some laundry. Since I am off tomorrow I am taking it slow and easy, something I do not do well at all!
Randy has a pass he thinks for not being here, something about traveling and a new grandbaby and all that...maybe I will dream about him again!!!:D

Well, just in case, I'll be a good sport... I had THOUGHT about putting on my moderator shield (must have two little boys who are avid Star War fans! :D), but thought better of that as well...
**checking to see what she wants...**
Permanent change I've made: Seeing the beauty WITHIN me, and agreeing I'M WORTH IT!!!
Permanent change I'm making: Continue with the EXERCISE!!!
Sherry
Reporting in!
I'd have been here sooner if the danged ol' computer hadn't kept logging me off.
Sang at 2 church services today which pretty well takes up my morning. It's still raining cats and dogs, but looks like we're dodging the ice bullet.
Hmm, what permanent changes have I made? Well the exercise thing is pretty permanent now. Amy, I too saw the infomercial when I got on PP the first time, but didn't call. I went to the book store and found the original PP book, then plunged in head first. I made quite a lot of progress too, but got sidetracked not once, but twice. For those of you who weren't around on the old board, I know the Eades' personally. They used to practice just up the street from my apt. in a clinic, and I went there a number of times (not for weight loss though). That's what caught my eye when I saw the infomercial-I said, hey, I know those people!
Making lower carb chili tonight for supper. It's supposed to be c-c-cold here this week!
Who's next??

So, what are YOU doing differently?
Differently than what? Kidding. Aside from the changes we all make when we get on this WOL are more from the mental piece:
1- I followed the Natural Planning Model (my signature line)
2- I applied a lot of my MBA skills, like strategy, incentives, etc.
3- I figured out the rules and work them (I did this before)
4- I learned the value of commitment and have put it into play.
5- I have not done it alone, but rather, with a set of people I consider friends, in a very real sense of the word.
What permanent change have you made in your life from following the Plan?
I'm not to permanent yet, and as a man, I like to keep my options open. That said, using ritual and repetition have helped quite a bit. I make changes piece by piece, and make them part of my life before I change more.
What permanent change do you NEED to make?
I really gotta learn to get over my issues and eat more things, specifically vegetables and fish. Or at least figure out how to try them fairly and find some portion that could go in. If you eat salad, you have no idea how much those who don't might envy you the ease of being on plan with it. I've managed to get engineered nutrition (bars & shakes) to be part of the plan, which wasn't easy, but want to expand this wider (like to real, whole foods) by May. Will have to do more reading on this.

I'd have been here more often today, but I needed time to recover from all the flogging.
Miss Amy, uh, Ma'am.....
Attitude makes all the difference.
You gotta want it.
You gotta be willing to work for it.
You gotta be unwilling to make excuses for why you didn't do it.
There really is no acceptable excuse, because
any excuse you make, is a deception to the real cause.
No one said you have to be perfectly on plan every single day (like any of us have ever been perfectly on plan  , every single day, since we started this program.)
No one said you can't screw it up and still succeed (I get as many do-overs as I need)
Lie to your friends, your family, those of us here online, but the truth is still staring you in the mirror when you take your clothes off
Said and done......Time for Confession
No I didn't do any formal exercise today. I was lazy.....
Yes, I ate more than I should have. I was bored..........and.........LAZY!!
But I still stayed within my limits, if I don't eat more than 2 carbs for the rest of the night.
Michelle

I'm here Amy! I'm here!
Today has been one of those "get the stuff that needs doing done" days. I knew if I popped in here I'd lose my momentum. Haven't had dinner yet, but it's already planned and added into my counts.
Exercise - elliptical this morning, walk this afternoon (between loads of laundry), supps - yes, protein - 99, ECC - 21, water - 74 (and still drinking  ).
What am doing differently that's making a difference? I'd say portion control. Until I started weighing and measuring everything that goes into my piehole I didn't realize the quantity of food I was consuming  . The other thing that's working is getting back into the exercise routine. I had been religous about using the elliptical (used my tax refund and bought my self a good one - Nordic Trac) every morning and hitting Curves 3 X a week until late last summer. Then, I just tanked. And subsequently ballooned up :frown: . One of the Curves requirements is that you take your pulse rate every eighth station. Mine is up considerable from when I flaked, so I know what to aim for.
TTFN!

It's been a good day today. The sleet and ice hit around noon and it's been colder than a well digger's arse, but the landscape looks fairy-like with a sheen of ice coating everything. We don't get snow here except once every 5 years or so, for which I am grateful, but it is nice to see a winter wonderland occasionally. I had to bucket water down to the poultry as the hose bib at the barn was frozen, so I got some good exercise. Yeah, I know it doesn't count, but my muscles are a bit sore after toting 6 buckets of water. Today's stats:
Protein 84
ECC 62 Not perfect, but the extra came from an apple, not junk
water yes
suppl yes

I guess I'm confused -- Ammy had a red "HERE" by some folks posts signifying she was taking roll call. Since I had posted earlier this morning, I thought that meant I would have been counted as being here. But maybe the red here means something else. As you can see, I'm easily confused. At this point, let's just forget it. At least I know I posted already today.

I'm done eating for the day, so I better check in with my numbers.
3 meals today, no time/need for a snack
Protein-met, but I am feeling so incredibly full after eating that much meat. I really have to remember to eat my meat first, and give up the carb-side if I get full, I did it backwards twice today.
Carbs-within limit. Did the Ruby Tuesday salad bar for supper, lettuce/cheese/egg/cucumber slices/bacon/ranch/8 croutons
Supps-taken
Water-MORE than necessary...I am now hoarse and my throat is killing me because of this coughing, I'm heading back to the doctor again tomorrow, this it getting ridiculous.
Exercise-done, got it 4 this week. I was speed-walking around the Mall of America, but had to slow down when the coughing was causing people to swerve to walk AWAY from me!
I'm going to head to bed now - take my cough syrup and hope for some zzzzzzzzz's. I'll check in tomorrow to see if the other 8 have checked in!

Good evening everyone -
Sherry - looks like we're both trying to get that exercise thing to become a permanent fixture in our lives! Tomorrow is my 50+ minute walk with Mom - what are you planning? :)
Amy - I did the same thing - got all my protein in, and now I'm feeling a little fuller than I'd like. I only ate 2 meals today - weekends are strange! I'll work on spreading it around more when I'm off tomorrow.
For all of you getting snow/ice - stay warm! It's going to be 77 here tomorrow. I actualy wish we would have at least a few colder days - I have so many nice warm sweaters that I haven't worn at all this winter. I miss them! Seeing as how I'm going to lose a lot of weight, I know NONE of the sweaters I own now will fit me next winter. :D This is their last-chance winter!
Speaking of sweaters - I have this beautiful black one I've never worn - it's hanging in my room as a "goal" thing. It fits now - but it hugs some lumps, bumps and rolls that aren't so attractive. I'm going on vacation the last week in Feb, and I'm planning to wear this sweater out one night in Vegas. I can't wait - I know I'm going to look great! :D
I apologize if this is cheesy, but I had forgotten how great and happy LC makes me feel. Who else feels like they could conquer the world, or do anything else they want, right now?! :)
OK, time to tuck this happy energy into bed. I'll be getting up early to eat a fabulous LC breakfast with my best friend!

So, Amy, I hope you feel better by the time you read this in the morning. :)
Protein's good, carbs are up because of an apple and too many nuts, got my walk in, had enough water, I think, not all the supps.
I bent my knee too sharp yesterday and I remember it saying ouch, but didn't have any discomfort until a sat down for a while after my walk today. Now I can hardly bend it and it hurts.
Forgot to "Pass on the Torch" for tomorrow...
there have been so many of us in the 'LimeLight'...Who hasn't been IT yet...??
Sherry (spelled correctly this time)...has Sherry been IT yet??

OK. So I'm here already. Geeze, a girl can't go off for the day with her feller without getting hollered at. :p It is still the 14th, so I made it. We had a lovely day. After church we drove to the Eastern Shore, almost to the ocean, but hubby has to work tomorrow, so we didn't go that far. We would have wanted to stay. I feel guilty, while everyone else is complaining about ice and snow, I was riding through a wildlife refuge with the car windows down and no jacket. We got some good, I hope, pictures including several of a bald eagle.
Meals were screwy today. Before our jaunt, I had a couple of eggs, bacon and a slice of low carb toast.
We weren't hungry so we didn't stop to eat until we were ready to head for home and had dinner in Cambridge. I had 2 crab cakes, a salad, broccoli, a tiny piece of cornbread and a glass of chardonney. The restaurant is famous for its cornbread.
I ran the numbers, and I don't think the cornbread put me too far over. The crab cakes were good ones with little if any filler. My protein was low too. But over all, I just plain ate very little today. And I'm still not hungry, so I think I'll quit while I'm only a little over and go to bed.
I did get all of my water and then some. By the way has anybody tried the Dasani lemon water with splenda? We stopped at a convience store for something to drink. Next to the large bottles of Dasani water, were these bottles of lemon water. And I thought they might be refreshing and different so I got a bottle of that too. Well, it may have been low carb, but I felt like I was drinking syrup. I was glad I had bought regular water too.
Well, now for a quick scan of other threads, and then to bed.

I hope your knee gets better fast, Carol. Have you tried alternating hot and cold packs? That works fairly well for me when I "sprung" a knee or ankle (which I do more and more as I get older). Get thee well fast! :)
