Hmm - that counts as physical activity. But I'd still love to hear about some exercise :p...

I am leaving for the gym shortly and plan to do 15 minimum minutes on the treadmill and resistance all around! 60 minutes in all.

A good workout completed!

Well my daily is the .8 miles to the bus stop in the morning (downhill, about 15 minutes) and the .8 miles home from the bus in the evening (uphill, about 20 minutes)
But my ankle was bothering me this morning so I skipped the downhill part and took the local bus. Definitely walking up the hill tonight, though, assuming nothing hurts and everything moves right. Or as far up the hill as I can manage.

I only walked all over a conference and exhibit hall yesterday. The last session of the conference was finished at about 9. Since the conference is in Washington, and I'm in Baltimore, that's considered local so no cushy conference hotel room for me. I got home by around 10:30 and my only thought was sleep. I got home earlier today, so I will do some treadmill tonight before falling into bed. I have to catch the train tomorrow at 6:30 am so I don't expect to be up too late tonight.
On the other hand, it is a very good conference.

Bonnie - Way to go getting in what you can despite the circumstances :D!

Yeah for you, Miralin! And welcome to the board :)!
Thanks! Doing the same today. I was sick for a couple weeks and slacked off on the exercise, but I'm getting back into it as I can. And I will say I feel tons better when I do. :)

Miralin - How awesome the illness didn't kick you off the exercise wagon :)! How's the ankle doing today?

Little better. I still haven't figured out precisely what's wrong with it, but it seems to finally be getting better by the day.
And ... if I want to get anywhere, I have to walk to it or walk to the bus stop. My life is designed as exercise ;-) But it works for me!

Miralin - I think that's great! We would all be better off if we walked a lot more and rode a lot less ;).

I look at it like this:
It's healthier for me (believe it or not, I used to *drive* to the 7-11 that's two and a half blocks away)
It's better for the environment. My car didn't pass smog before, and didn't get great gas mileage .....
No worries about parking or other tickets. They hit you really bad with that here, to the tune of an average $50 for a parking violation, which doubles if you don't pay it within 2 weeks.
It's also cheaper! My monthly bus/rail pass is only $60 and that's the unlimited usage one. My gas alone was twice that, and my insurance was about $80-$90 a month. So I have more money to invest in art supplies, gourmet food (*grin*), walking shoes, hair color, DVD rentals, or whatever else contributes to my quality of life.
Hope everyone's having a great Monday!
*edit to add: it does wonders for my depression, too! And .......... good luck with the knee, gitfiddle!*

Hey, I'm just checking in to say that I'm in the cripple box again. DH says I'd better go to the doctor with the knee. I s'pose I will. It's so frustrating because it was going very well, getting up to speed (but not distance) very carefully and now it's clunking when I walk and sometimes catching like there's a piece of something floating around in there. I feel like a rusty old car!
I'm hoping that cycling will work, because it's not weight-bearing, but I'll have to wait until the wind dies down a bit and the temp warms up.

Carol - I am so glad you checked in! Sorry about the knee but I agree with DH - you should get it checked out. Knees are not supposed to clunk and catch ! Since it's not quite cycling weather for you, now would be a good time to get that knee checked out ;). Cycling, while not weight-bearing, will still involve the knee so it's better have that knee up and running right than to wait to ride the bike to find that's not going to work, either :). Please keep us posted!!!

I've often had knee problems after cycling. I can do it if I start very gently and build up gradually, but it's more a case of finding a way to cycle that won't hurt my knee than of cycling actually being "knee-friendly."

Lots of walking at the hospital

Janet - I agree. That's why I don't ride my stationary bike any more . A street bike (as I remember) was somewhat easier on it, but for sure the stationary bike exacerbated the problems I already have.
Aaron - Now that all is well, instead of walking you'll have to boogie with Richard or Regis :p!
