Low Carb Cooking 101In "Low Carb Cooking 101" Di Bauer, CarbSmart's Editor, will be presenting meal plans complete with a menu, a shopping list, a game plan, and recipes. The meals will not be too time-consuming or complicated, and the recipes will be ones that inexperienced cooks can make successfully.

Hopefully, the menus will help you expand your low carbohydrate repertoire, gain some confidence in your low carbohydrate cooking and menu planning, and start you on the road to creating your own carbohydrate recipes.

Actually, Di's been doing this for some years now (and a great job she's doing of it, too). There are 64 installments here. Impressive, no?

There are other excellent LC Cooking resources at the CarbSmart online magazine (http://www.carbsmart.com/carmag.html), CarbSmart Kitchen (http://www.carbsmart.com/kitchen.html) section, including Di Bauer's LC Cooking 101, Rani Merens' LC Cook's Corner (http://www.carbsmart.com/lowcarcookco.html), Tony Blakemore's Aussie LC Gourmet (http://www.carbsmart.com/auslcgour.html) articles, and (ahem) my own Easy LC Recipe Conversions (http://www.carbsmart.com/canadian.html) articles...even articles and recipes from Guest Chefs (http://www.carbsmart.com/guestchefs.html)!

On top of all that, there's a categorized recipe section (http://www.carbsmart.com/recipes.html) with recipes in MasterCook export/import form (also managed by Di).

Pretty amazing resource from some very long time LCers.

:D

I recognize your name from another forum, and when I lived on VI, I appreciated your relative "closeness" to my location, even though we never met.

Pity...I gather you're now in the Netherlands? How cool is that? I was born in Apeldoorn.

One Island to the Other, thanks to the Navy.
We're soon due for another posting, if my hubby doesn't decide to retire instead. However, it's more likely to be Halifax, rather than Victoria (and I don't know if we could afford to move back there, anyway).

Man oh man, do I ever hear you on the real estate; just got our tax roll assessment yesterday :( ouch!

I've been working on call (civilian NPF cook) at the Officer's Wardroom (Galley) here, since I finished the culinary training last year -- yep, 3rd career or thereabouts, and the pay, well, sucks... :)

Say hi to your DH for me, tell him I'm working at getting some shifts at the Chiefs & POs Mess, too  -- sure is hard keeping LC in one of those military kitchens...

:D

I love those places at Esquimalt. Occasionally, I used to splurge on the chowder on Fridays.

My daughter did her work experience at Nelly's Block. She went to Camosun for culinary training. She didn't take level three. Now, she's bakery supervisor for Loblaws in Alberta, between Edmonton and Cold Lake. She was on MSN with her brother last evening and asked him to take some of her snow!! Hear you guys got dumped on again - wow!! I leave and the place falls apart ;)
