I'm doing more walking these days, and trying to do more outside. This week has been unseasonably warm here, so that's helped, but I'm hoping to continue even once it gets colder. I'd rather be outside during my lunch hour than running laps in the mall!

Anyway, I was looking for some tools to figure out how far I was going and how many calories I was burning and found a couple of great ones. I've detailed them both on my blog, but I'll be putting links to both in the Important Links and Resources section as well. Here is a link to my blog entry:

Thanks for the link Levi.

I had used GMap Pedometer when I was biking this summer until I was transferred to a new area in the East end of Ottawa. By car it was only 2 more minutes by the Queesway but biking added another 25 minutes and I needed a shower after getting to work so it died.

This year's Algonquin trip was to include canoeing and biking. The best lake in Algonquin Park is Radiant Lake. The reason is the solititude of location and the great fishing. The problem is the seven dirty portages to get there. I had proposed that we camp on Lake Traverse and then bike the car-restricted loggin road with just day packs and tents.

Alas, Reality set in with a reminder that we are all getting older and two of them felt that they could not do the trip of 22km loaded with material. I may take a week next summer to do it and drop of the tents in the interior and we would all do this trip in September bringing just snack food and rods.

It would be a few hours on bikes to an amazing lake, some fishing, a sleepover and return the next day.

Either I can't figure out how to use it, or I'm walking 0 miles every day .....

I'll have to twink with it some more. Looks like a neat resource though!
