Today is a lunchtime Body Sculpting class. We have a rigorous trainer and provides the best classes I have ever been too.
I work up a bigger sweat with Aerobics/kickboxing but the sculpting classes stretch/tear muscle for new muscle growth.

Great lineup for the day, everyone :D! For me, it was kickboxing and abs.

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Mine was really busy, but I got in an upper body workout on Saturday. I did Slow Burn techniques on some of the exercises, but not all. (It was supposed to be a full body workout, but after doing the upper stuff, I was so tired I decided to wait until Sunday to do lower body.) Then that evening, we spent about an hour moving furniture out of my office.

Unfortunately, somewhere in there, I managed to twist or pull something in my back, and was sore Sunday. So I took it easy Sunday, and only did a couple things. I didn't do full squats, but I did do about 5 slow and careful plies (as in the ballet movement.) I also tried the static lunges you recommended, Shadow, but only did 4 on each side. I can see, though, that it is going to be a good exercise. I could feel the burn just doing those 4!

Yesterday, I actually stayed home because I was even more sore/in pain in the morning. I spent the day napping and applying ice to my back, with one short trip to the grocery store.

Today I feel better, but still have some minor twinges going on in my lower back, so I'm debating whether I'll exercise. If I do, I doubt it will be a full round of upper body work. I'll probably do everything at a lower level and make it more of an aerobic thing than a full resistance exercise.

Mary - Oh yes, they'll make ya burn :p. And I even forgot a step in telling you about them. So once you get used to them I'll tell you the step I missed and then you can kick it up a notch ;).

Good decision on postponing the lower body if you were tired after doing the upper body! Besides, it sounds like you got additional work in later in the day ;).

I am so very sorry about your back pain :(. If you do exercise today, I think you've come up with a good plan. But sometimes, the ice along with rest and stretching is the best attack on something like that. However, I know you listen to your body and will do only what you feel up to :).

Ruth, great to see you reporting in and with a big workout!

The Sculpting class (about 15 of us) at lunch almost did me in and the instructor noticed the change. The class was intense (you can tell when people get a little overworked and sloppy with their weights - three different people dropped their hand weights at the end of a routine or placed them wrong and had them fall. )
Everyone looks over, the person cringes :o and the instructor tells them to move to lighter weights if they are losing form or finding they are unable to control the move.
My legs were beat in the first 15 minutes but I was stuck doing the rest of the class. She asked afterwards how I was doing since I was not putting a lot into the lunges (going lower). I was still a little tender from the stairs/weights yesterday and she suggested saving the stairs for a Friday workout when I will not be following it with a strength class. "If you are doing a serious strength session you should not be doing another the next day."
