Greetings I have started today on the PP way of eating. I had blood drawn last week and I know all my readings are going to be really bad. For years because I have always worked out and I maintained a decent weight and ignored several signs that should have triggered a lifestyle change. My cholesterol has been always been high and I have lived a stressful lifestyle, but it has caught up to me and I am going to take action before I start having serious health issues (my weight keeps climbing and I feel like %^&*). After reading the form here I was encouraged by what I have read. Here are my numbers which I hope to improve as well as loose a long term goal of 40 lbs.
Age: 42 Male
Current weight: 230
Current BF: 22%
As soon as I get the blood work results I will post.

Hi Rockgrids!! Welcome to our board! :D
We currently have a November Challenge for "bootcampers" (mostly newbies) that has just gotten underway this past week. It's focus is on exercise...but as someone new (if your interested in joining us), you may first want to get just the EATING aspect under you belt for awhile, much like we bootcampers did in the October Challenge. (You can do that along with us!) :D
Do you know what your Protein requirements, Ecc requirements are?
Either way....we would enjoy it if you joined us.... if it's something you feel comfortable with, that is?
If you have any questions, just ask. The group here is very knowledgable...and friendly....as they helped guide me along terrifically!!!

Greetings all, here are my numbers. 180 LBM and 50 lbs fat. I am eating 162 grams of protein and trying to eat 20 grams or more fiber. This is my 2nd day and man I am drinking a lot of water! They say in the book to divide your protein into 3 meals but I am trying 4. 162 grams is a lot! What do you all think?:suspicious:

I don't know which book you've been using - the formula in the original PP book is more detailed than the PPLP table. You multiply your Lean body mass by a factor depending on how active you are:
0.5 if you are sedentary
0.6 if you do 20-30 mins exercise 2 or 3 times per week
0.7 if you do more than 30 mins 3 to 5 times per week
0.8 if you do an hour or more 5 or more times per week
0.9 if you are a competitive athlete doing an hour or more twice daily.
If you go for the 0.7 multiplier, that would give you a protein requirement of 126g per day.
But I'm about half your size and eat about 85g per day of protein, so your 162 doesn't sound impossible (your numbers are about the same as my husband's at the moment).
