Hello everybody!!! I still have some doubts about ketones, so, I have decided to ask you some questions... If you measure your ketones and they are very high, is it dangerous? I'm thinking about measuring mine to see if I'm burning fat or not, but I'm not so sure about it. I have been reading different articles and they always say that to have a great amount of ketones is so dangerous for health, you can even die... however, I remember Dr. Michael Eades to explain that ketones are not harmful. So, could you help me a little bit, please? In addition, what time of the day is the best to measure the ketosis? I have read in an article that it is better in the morning but...
Well, I know this subject has been explained before, but I have been searching it in the board, and I couldn't find it, so sorry and thank you!!

If you're an uncontrolled diabetic, it may be dangerous but we're talking about levels really high. If you are under carbohdyrate control, on the other hand, the fact that you can measure any ketones are all just means that whatever amount of ketones produced has already met the energy demand of the cells that used them and the rest is being excreted. What you detect is not what'be being produced but actually what didn't get to be used for energy. When you're under carbohydrate control, ketoacidosis (which is the scary name for the potentially fatal condition) just can't happen.

My advice... use the money you plan to spend in the ketostix to buy some delicios Jamon Serrano! ;)

There was a recent thread on that here (http://72.32.36.211/forum/showthread.php?t=1345&highlight=Ketosis).

Thank you so much, Gabe!! It is what I needed to know... because I know ketosis is typical and widely commented on Atkins, but Drs Eades didn't focus on it so much. Thank you so much...;)
Anyway, it is always good to be informed about everything we can, don't you think...?
Ah!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SO MUCH for your reply to my e-mail about the Splenda subject. It is so useful and clarifying for me. Y have decided to give it a try to see the reactions of my body. So, I have bought a box with 50 packets to start. Oh, god... I wish I could find low-carb products here, but it is quite difficult... Fortunately, like you told me some time ago, that will teach me to adapt my sources to the plan and so, cook a lot!! It is great, because in that sense I get double benefit: to improve my health and to learn cooking!!!:p
Thanks a lot, you are great!!!;)
