You will never change your life until you change something you do daily.
(Mike Murdock)

Whoa! It's Thursday already (and my first day at work this week - shameful).

Allergies this morning, because DS GF marinated in her perfume and got in my truck last night. Had the windows open all the way to work - almost froze, and it still didn't go away sufficiently.

Guess I'm just Too sensitive to scents, especially perfumes/chemicals.

Brought some spice cake with me to work, as well as other foods. Had protein shake for breakfast, and am not sufficiently hungry to top it up with anything else. Perhaps when mid-morning hits - we'll see.

So far, one litre of water and large mug of black tea. But it's still early here. Got to work before 0700 this morning.

Oh, BTW, have still been doing my pushups and situps before bed, even if I forget to report it - so you don't have to yell at me for that one (yet).

Hey CM, I am also allergic to scents.Lysol will just about kill me. Cool about the push ups.
I'm leavin....on a jet plane........don't know when I'll be back again....
I'll be back Monday. Have a great weekend. I'll try to be good.

CM...you are an inspiration with your pushup/situp routine. :D You are one person I don't think we need to get after.;)

Hawk...have a wonderful time. Be safe and we'll be thinking about you in NY. (I do agree with Missy...the cab drivers in NY leave something to be desired. I was a nervous wreck in my cab rides!)

Guess what!?! I weighed myself (since I'm not on the mini challenge within this challenge) and my weight is inching down more this week...or should I say pounding down? LOL. (Although, I suppose that my body is inching down, too, just haven't done any measurements yet.)

Another busy but protein powered day!

Cm, thanks for starting the post this morning, love it!

I too can start sneezing and sniffling with scents. Lysol doesn't bother me but perfumes really do, and it seems like people pour it on, in this case bigger is not better! :D But glad you are feeling better, sounds like you are off to a good start with the protein shake, water and some spice cake in case you get hungry.

Lizi, definitely agree about the inspiration about CM and those push ups. Last thing I could do at night would be that, I am just such a morning person! Glad the scale is pounding downward, always a good day. And one good day brings on another!

Well I am a bit bummed about the tooth! I have an appointment today at 9:30 but you know that will cost about an arm and two legs! And I have a board meeting tomorrow so hoping before I have my 13 bosses I can not have a tooth missing as I smile! As you will recall I would rather have a baby than go the dentist in some of our conversations this past few days! :suspicious:

But being the Major Chick, buck up buckaroo!!! I won't be whinning (whining) hmm Missy will correct me  about it anymore, one of my pet peeves!

So my day is changed a bit, and think instead of going into work I will come home after the dentist and enjoy the cold weather! We had freezing temps last night here, love those!

Alrighty, so what is the plan?

Hi, Y'all,

Wow, scents can make me have headaches and wheeze and I can feel my nose closing.

Hawk, have fun and be careful.

CM- congrats for doing your pushups/situps before bed.

Billie- hang in there, you will be ok at the dentist. I'm so glad you are getting some cool weather, we are suppose to get some also. I'm tired of summer type weather.

Tonight, I have to assist with an inservice from 7-9pm, my first at my new job. I will be going from several floors to inservice the staff. Being nervous would have in the past made me overeat, but I feel in control and relaxed today.

Will edit tonight.

I'm having a GREAT day today! The sun was shining ALL day and it was 33deg C (90ish F) so I went prancing around in the sunshine probably looking far too happy, but I'm just so glad it's summer again... and I got my results back from my talk last week and I absolutely aced it! 23 out of a possible 25 marks! YAY ME

I'm having serious issues guestimating my intake for the day to be honest.. I got taken to an el primo steak house for dinner tonight and *drooooooooooooooools* I asked them about their 'meat soup' and their sausages and was assured that pretty much the ingredients were only meat, so I'm guessing I probably ate about a pound/half kilo all up of various forms of wonderful steak (yep, I'm a piggie somedays)

BUT my dessert came with a bit of strawberry syrup on it (strawberries and cream) and seeing as the waiters there are only just starting to be nice to us I didn't want to draw attention to myself by pointing out that I'd asked for it plain, or incur their wrath by not eating it - they take it personally if you don't eat there, I just ate it. So I had probably all up about a teaspoon if that of syrup, anyone want to guess a count for me?

Protein: 180ish YUM
ECC 40ish (including my guess of ~10 for the syrup)
Supps: yep
Water: 6L
Exercise YES! 35 minute trot after dinner to go visit another friend 4/5 days complete!

Good luck at the Dentist today Billie, hopefully it'll be one of those fast and simple patches and not an arm and two legs worth.

and I'm just going to hide over here, I'm obsessed with perfume. I'm pretty much always wearign it.. I even put it one after my shower before I go to bed. I do not wear it when I'm around someone who I know has sensitivities towards it though.

Then again I also smoke (and now I'll hide even more) so I'm possibly a stinky person to most of y'all anyway..

A tsp is 5ml: that's 5g of water or about 4g of sugar. So, even for a very sweet syrup, you'd be safe assuming 5g carb per teaspoon - that's assuming it's pretty much neat sugar.

abbey
10-12-2006, 09:12 AM
awesome, thank you Mitra, good to know I didn't blow it out too much and am probably still within my limit for the day.

The syrup tasted kind of urky anyway.. I've never liked overly sweet artificial things unless they are skittles (my nemesis).

Fall is here too - had to wear a long-sleeved shirt over my t-shirt this morning with my shorts to walk the dogs :) - it had to come off after about 10 mins (too warm) but its a start

Snow, ick! It's coming down here, but being on the lakeshore we're pretty much protected. Inland, they got a few inches. My brain is in denial.

"Marinated" is a great word! One morning I picked up a work friend right after she had doused herself and I had a headache in ten seconds. Funny thing is that there are a (very) few perfumes that don't do that to me and I wish I could tell the difference chemically. I like to wear it, but I don't because of what I might be doing to some innocent bystander. I also have trouble with some household cleaners, so I use it for an excuse to make someone else do the heavy scrubbing. :D

I didn't get online yesterday, but it was a good day with everything but (again) exercise. I had dinner with all my girl cousins last night at an Irish pub and had a steak smothered in onions and mushrooms with zucchini as a side dish. No guilt, and I ate the whole danged thing. There was a birthday girl and the waitress sweetly brought everyone a cream puff thingy dripping with sauces and I passed it by without regret.

Billie, I didn't get to read yesterday's posts, but I hope you can flash a toothy smile at your thirteen bosses. Good golly! I have enough trouble with just one!

Claudette, that's great that you can be under pressure without wanting to eat. I call that Progress! Hope it goes well.

Hawk, if you can't be good, be careful! ;)

Carol - I can't even safely go up the "cleaning aisle" in the supermarket

Abby - thankfully computers don't have smell receptors. I'm also allergic to cigarette smoke!!

Did the silly thing at lunch and ran around the lake (2.5 miles; 3.8 km). Walked in the middle about 35 seconds, and then gave up and started running again. Well, maybe it's a jog - I don't know what to call it. Wanted to give up numerous times, but once you have a momentum going, it's hard to cut down and walk, I guess. Just over 23 minutes.

Still have to go home and exercise the dogs, of course. Considered going to the gym at lunch, instead of running, but didn't bother.

Have eaten, if I remember correctly, my minimum amount of protein already today, and the evening meal is yet to come. Must be feeling better, I guess. Either that, or my choices are better.

And how much fun is it to go through the big department stores that put their makeup and perfume right in the middle! And magazines that bind perfume samples between the pages. :p I could go on and on! I actually like perfume, I just don't like the headache. I recall that I noticed an improvement in my tolerance when I started taking MSM powder as a supplement a couple of years ago.

Hey all,

I'm at home again today. I slept for 3 hours after the kids went to school. In fact I slept thru the snow -- but couldn't believe when I saw it on the ground.
My tummy is still a mess - so I think I'll just do protein shakes today and see what tomorrow brings. If I can get out of bed I will check back with you later.

Hey everyone...well 3 hours in the dentist chair, ouchies! My mouth is still full of novacaine so I decided to stay home the rest of the day, oh darn!!!:) Anyway I will connect a bit later, right now I need some advil before the good stuff wears off! My teeth now look like :D these!!

Really, and what is MSM powder supposed to be for?
It's methyl-something and it's natural sulpher. My doctor practically insists on it. It strengthened my fingernails, improved my hair, helped my allergies a lot, and he recommends it to strengthen tendons.

It's a white powder I buy in a one-pound jar and mix a dose with water. Slightly bitter tasting but not obnoxious. I've been using it for three years.

Billie...so you no longer look like this http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/tsmileys2/22.gif? Yea! Sorry about the 3 hours in the chair. I hope it was better than childbirth for you this time around. Speaking of dentists...I had to bring in DS#1 into the dentist for an unexpected appt...one of his top fron teeth was turning grey! I know DS#2's head bumped really hard into DS#1's teeth about a week ago. He complained that his top teeth really hurt but I didn't see anything until yesterday. Now, DS#1 has to have a baby root canal!:crybaby: Now, I have to find a pediatric specialist... Our dentist said it's pretty common in young children but I still hate the thought of his having a baby root canal! (It's that or risk a pretty good chance of getting an infection.:frown: )

Oh, I have to go to Costco now to get fruit & veggies for DS#2's bday party this weekend.

Chat with you later!

Hi all! I'm back after my 24 hours of internet interruptus. I'm doing quite well today actually. Decided to try to stick more to the original plan with 3 "larger" meals and 1 snack instead of 5 "mini meals" of the same general size like I usually do.

I was stuffed after breakfast, I'm just not used to eating solid food so early in the morning and I can't stand protein powders unless it's in milk which blows the carbs. Had a decent lunch and just finished my "snack" though it was rather high in fat. I need to find a way with my new system to get my 1/4 C of almonds in without eating them all at one sitting, it's a bit much! Maybe I'll have half mid afternoon and the rest right before bed!

Going to Fuddruckers for dinner, I hope I can resist the brownies.

Called the doctor today to set up a physical. I go in next month. Should be interesting as my appointment is at 11:00 and I have to go in fasting. And I hope I can not fall off the carb wagon too!

Billie - so sorry to hear about your tooth.

Will check back in later!

Billie

Oh Lizi your poor baby! A baby root canal, oh my goodness! I will not complain about mine, after hearing that!

Beccain, well glad you are changing things around. I cannot do the 5 small meals a day, it sets me off to always thinking about food and then wanting to snack and there seems no separation to me. So maybe this will be good, high fat usually equals lower hungry so way to changing things up!

Everyone you are just doing great! My Chicago son is coming home tonight for a long weekend. I always let them choose what they want to eat when they come home. This son always chooses steak, salad etc, so I am thinking no problem. Well guess what he wants, lasagna, caesar salad and garlic bread!!! Oh my!

Gabe made us a LC decadent chocolate cake, my fav! 11 grams of carbs, and I am thinking like 5 or so grams of protein in a slice. Little homemade whipped cream, raspberries, should get us through the lasagna!

No more carb porn!!!!

Back later!

Love the way I am feeling...we are kicking it ladies and the doc!

Hi Rebecca!:)

Just a note to suggest you might look for Hood's brand milk. They make it in a fat free (which I haven't tried), a white milk and a chocolate. It's called either Low Carb or Low Calorie (they're the same product exactly). I remembered reading someone's post that they used 1/2 cup milk and 1/2 cup water to mix their protein powders into, and sometimes for fun, adding a splash of half and half. That's what I do normally, the shake gets really thick and rich:D that way. Anyway Hood's is low carb, only 3 or 4 grams per serving of 8 oz., so if you half that and add to Whey gourmet it only takes up about 6 or 7 grams of carb total for breakfast. Also adds about 4 or 5 more grams protein for 4 oz. of the milk also. Hope this makes sense!:o:o

More later!;)

OOOOOH Billie!!!

Our commanding officer needs some rest after 3 hours!:tear::tear::tear: Well, get some rest and enjoy the snow :eek: if you all have it down there. Don't try to do too much. . .

Hey Peachy, that's what I did, after one day of only 16 oz. of water. I hope you're feeling more like yourself tomorrow!!

Bille, so glad you'll have your sparklies for your board meeting tomorrow!

You know, I keep forgetting to look for Hoods. I know I've seen it at one of the groceries, but I really need to put in on my list. In lieu of milk, I've been making my morning mini latte with lite coconut milk. It is actually good, I promise! A dash of cinnamon and a coupla drops of splenda top it off perfectly.

Aw Lizi, poor kid! But fixing his tooth will save it and will allow his adult teeth to come in normally.

Abbey! Glad you're feeling so good.

Carol, we had snow here, too, this am, and bitter wind. RATS!!!

I'm printing this to keep for reference. I'll have to see what I can find locally. I'm not sure if anything perishable would be wise from my trip to Whole Foods tomorrow as I have to go from there to Clemson, hang out a bit and then drive all the way back home so it would be several hours before it could be properly refridgerated. I really miss having protein drinks for breakfast, but I've tried doing everything else LC except that one meal and just can't lose so I gave it up.

I'm doing tons better today all the way around, appetite has decreased (no munchies!) and I can practically feel the weight sliding off. I can tell a difference in my abdominal area without even looking in a mirror. I'm looking forward to weighing/measuring on Sunday!

Be back later.....

Billie

I would think the cocount milk would be delightful, check the carb contents on the half and half or even full cream, many times lower in carbs than regular milk, and certainly lower than skim or 2%. Don't worry about the fat content--deal or else pushups anyone!

Beccain drive safely tomorrow, fall is such a beautiful drive always! The maple tree outside the office window here is brillant yellow and shedding fast. We didn't get snow last night but we did get a frost and all my flowers are dropping, I guess it is time to part with them but I need to salvage the herbs at least.

Since my novacaine is still with me kind of nice being home in the middle of the week! But I will be paying soon I imagine!

Becca...yea! Both Bangs & I noticed that we're not feeling as hungry now since we're sticking to the plan.

That's awesome about your abdominal area! I can't wait for your report!Yahoo! Even my husband  noticed that my stomach seemed smaller.

And, yes, you were missed. Everyone is so vital in this challenge and we need everyone!

Billie...I didn't mean to compare my son's dental appt with your THREE HOUR dental appt. I hope your appt wasn't too bad. I do want to hear how it went, though. My son was only in the chair about 30 minutes and about 95% of that time was waiting for the x-rays of his top tooth. He was just chillin' the whole time. He was very relaxed.

Well, I think I'm going to take a nap. I'm plain exhausted from running around to the dentist and then getting everything ready for the bday party. I, after all, have to muster up enough strength to hit the gym tonight!:D

Hey Lizi and Rebecca, nice going on the abs loss!! I've been noticing too that I can actually get up and down out of my car and chairs more easily than I could a couple of weeks ago. So I know the fat is going off more noticeably now!

Went to apple orchards here for some bakery treats for my son who got a super good progress report for grades, 3 A's and a B, so he deserved something special. He could live on Honeycrisp apples and eggrolls. He's a weird kid. But I wasn't ever tempted to snack on anything bad.

I do appreciate this WOE, when you just do what you're supposed to, it becomes easy to not get hungry and to eat healthy:thumbsup:.

CMCOLE great numbers, good to see those calories up a bit, protein in good shape and carbs at a nice level, looks like you are feeling better!! YEAH

Joanne I'll take a peak at the post, I am sure he will be able to help him! Thanks for being such a considerate person, love that troup team work!

Becca Great on the abs news!!! Sinus now huh, well dang it! I always get sinus when the weather changes, when it hurts so bad when you touch you face, I know it is time to get something in me. Hope the drive tomorrow is not too bad for you!

Lizi What husband is noticing??? YEAH!!!! No I was very serious, a little tyke shouldn't have to have a kiddie root canal, I was just feeling guilty for being a whiner, and thinking of your poor little guy, Hugs to you both!

Bangs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5...I am counting those pushups! You are too fun. You said in your work life or other life you are usually serious? Do you mind if I ask what you do? My work life is pretty darn serious, so coming here and reading everyone's wonderful wit is very helpful

Everybody You know you can see you all changing each day. Lots more self confidence, I mean I think it takes some self confidence sometimes to have fun, so keep rolling it out troups!

JoanneYou are such a positive force here and seem to have settled in pretty well with the arny brats we got going on here! SO in that case no noodles tonight...tomorrow though, watch it!

Well sweeties, I mean PFC first class troups, :o I better go catch up with Chicago son...Gabe has a picture to post here later tonight...chocolate decadent cake, with freshly made whipped cream and raspberries...Missy he is also a great chef!

Well I mentioned in my last post that I wasn't fighting the munchies... guess I spoke too soon. Less than 2 hours after my snack I was hungry again (and it was no small snack either!) Running low on things around here too (grocery store tomorrow morning) so I ended up with a LC tortilla w/ peanut butter.

Gave in to the brownie at Fuddruckers too, but instead of eating 2/3 of it all by myself like I normally would have, I split it 4 ways among us all - today is my daughter's birthday. My portion was a 2" square - which according to my gram counter is about 15 ECCs. I would've been just at my target ECC even with that if I hadn't had the tortilla and PB earlier.

Ah well, still feeling great and have lots to do before I hit the road tomorrow, including getting a meatloaf made and in the fridge so all I have to do is put it in the microwave when I get home.

Totals for today:

Oh I won't! Filled up my water bottles and roasted some almonds all for tomorrow. I'll probably cut up some cheese to take too and see if I can find anything fun at Whole Foods! Thankfully it's not a long trip; just need some nibbles.

I'm gonna make the mini-cheesecakes for me (and probably some of the others as well) for treats this weekend instead of partaking of other birthday cake stuff.

Sorry about the dentist, Billie... I sat in the same kind of office for 2 hours this evening as Mr. Biggest got... BRACES!!! And, I'm about in tears, and about to cuss, as the archwire's already off!!!! :suspicious: :suspicious: :suspicious:

Now... what did I really come to post... oh!

It's methyl-something and it's natural sulpher. My doctor practically insists on it. It strengthened my fingernails, improved my hair, helped my allergies a lot, and he recommends it to strengthen tendons.
Never heard of this before, Carol... is it over counter? Nail help, and hair help are ALWAYS good! ;)

AZSue, I LOVE BodyPump. I'm a Pump Fanatic!

Sherry, biotin can also be helpful for nails and hair.

You said in your work life or other life you are usually serious? Do you mind if I ask what you do?
Bille, I was the director of human resources at a hospital/medical center here until I decided a few years ago that nothing I would ever accomplish would be worth the cost to my health and sanity:eek: Now, I'm an occasional silversmith and jewelry designer, hospice volunteer, and dog Mom, but mainly I'm a wart on my hubby's finanacial behind. I'm still a serious gal and unabashed introvert (INFJ), but a seriously happy one. This feels like a safe place, though, to play:)

For Today:
Protein: 94
ECC: 23
Fiber: 42
Supplement: yes
Water: hmmmm, not sure. Probably only if you count saliva.
Exercise: Resting today from shoulder injury. Will catch up tomorrow.

MSM is also great for those of us with joint issues and arthritis!

And bangs - I switch between being an INTJ (most often) and INFP, I can't decide if I'm logical and rational or not :) which is pretty typical for a woman really :)

Missy: I dug out one of my favourite recipes for you:

3 minute chocolate cake (original recipe found at lowcarbfriends.com)

1/4 C Soy Flour *
1 T Cocoa Powder
1/4 t Baking Powder
5 Packets Splenda **

2 T Melted Butter (or coconut oil)
1 T Water
1 Egg
How To Prepare: In 2-Cup Pyrex baking dish blend well left column (flour, cocoa, baking powder, splenda). Add water, melted butter and egg. Blend thoroughly with fork. Cover with plastic wrap (To vent, cut small slit in center of plastic wrap). Microwave on high 1 minute or until knife comes out clean. Cool a bit; eat warm with whipped cream or cool completely to ice.

* Substituted 1/8 cup almond flour and 1/8 cup WPI (natural flavour) for soy flour
** substituted 2.5 T da vinci french vanilla syrup + 1teaspoon splenda - I omit the extra water when using the syrup too

With my subs the ECC comes out to 3 for the entire recipe with 28 grams of protein. I make it for breakfast every now and then, toss half a cup of raspberries over the top with a bit of cream and make everyone at home jealous :)

Fast, super easy and darn good! Kind of like a hot moist sponge pudding

I'm having great fun reading all these posts, and soaking up some of that overflowing support and enthusiasm . It hasn't made me get back to detailed weighing and measuring  but it's keeping me aware of my choices!

What's really good to read is not just the days when everything is easy, but how people deal with it when there are temptations around, and how they work to minimise the damage and get back on track.

Becca--hey private that was great going, 1/4 instead of 2/3 or all, that's great. Most of all love the planning for the weekend with the meatloaf and the cheescakes, Listen to Private Missy...Don't do the brownies tomorrow"!!!

AzSue a TGIF to you! Your numbers look great, how does it feel being back now almost a month on PP? How are you doing?!!!

Sherry, Mr. Biggest in braces that just is no right! He is not old enough for that! Oh the dang dentists of the world!!! :D

Lizi You might be lacking in water but no where else, you are burning it up! Great job!

Bangs Reporting for duty I am an ENTJ...and like that is not obvious on this board!!!:D It is a safe place to play and to get healthy. Every once in awhile some Internet Troll makes his way here, but we usually can get that troll dealt with pretty quickly. It is also a safe place to be healthy! And talking about healthy, the HR director of a Medical Center I couldn't think of anything more difficult. The extremes of egos and income! Yikes!

Abbey, us women do have some trouble deciding what we are going to be! In the 9 years that I have done MB, my profile has changed once, I used to be a ENTP!

Everybody If you want to take a very short and modified personality inventory you can google a search for the Myers Briggs, and you will see what you personality is like. For example I means someone who captures their energy internally, who gets their spirit or themselves renewed like through some quiet time at home or capturing a book or something like that. E people on the other hand getttheir energy rebuilt from people and talking. It is a fun exercise and many psychologist use it in marriage counseling. I had all my staff inventoried so I would know best how to deal with them!!! Didn't help :D

LisaINTP and I can see that for sure, but hanging around this place, that I might move more toward the center! :D

Great job troups! You are a package of energy and hope for alot of people on this board right now! I am watching all your tickers!

Joanne ~ this whole group is HILARIOUS, I agree! Thanks for the compliment, that's very sweet of you to say ~ but, I don't know, I tend to thrive on the "interaction" of a situation like this for some reason. If you'd meet me in person, I'm actually, NOT the life of the party. I just like the pace, style and form that "online" gives. I get just as much entertainment out of BEING goofy... as I do watching my behavior pull it out of others. lol

Sherry....Senor' Babe...lol  Your killin' me Sherry. lol I just love it when YOU give me the "what for". TOTALLY cracks me up! lol I'm ready for him!

Your poor son getting braces! :o Oh, poor thing. Pain now, but oh so worth it later in life. Hang tough Mom. I had them...lol....and, you WON'T be surprised about this...lol....BUT, due my two years...that incidentally turned into THREE years...lol because...I WAS A PROBLEM CHILD..and lol...REFUSED TO CONFORM!!!!! (surprised?) lol I refused to wear the rubber bands...lol month in, month out....refused. They HURT! (no, kidding!)...and since it was something "voluntary" that I had control over...lol I'd refuse. Till the orthodontist got my number. :D (you see, I have a HISTORY of it!) lol Then one appointment, HE put in PERMANENT SPRINGS!!! BIG FAT UGLY SPRINGS!!!!!!! And they were WELDED IN!!!!!!!! lol HURT LIKE HELL!!!!! Got the JOB DONE though! lol

I was so SICK of him....that once I got to the retainer part...and got it fitted, I REFUSED to wear it, and I REFUSED to go back! lol....Now my bottom teeth are a tad squeejawed. Just a tad....just enough to give them some character, you know! :D

Lizi....65 mins on the ELIPTICAL...ANDDDDDDDD 60 mintues on the TREADMILL!!!!!....RUNNING/ JOGGING!!!!!!!! Girl, ARE YOU INSANE!!!!!!???? Pipe DOWN!!!! Get back in line with your SIGNITURE!

Bangs, I think your adorable! lol I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the "introverts"....something about that personality type that appeals to me. Sarcastic, and dry (generally).....and usually managed to say the most in the least amount of space. A quality I'm OBVIOUSLY unable to feat! lol I like to describe myself as in introverted EXTROVERT! Go figure.

"a wart in my husband financial behind!" LOL....omg, your killing me...lol Saliva for your water! LOL.....omg. lol

Abbey, THANKS for the recipe!!! I'll try it. Sounds yummy! What's WPI?? thanks for the almond flour substitions suggestion. I can't have the soy.

Mitra! GLAD TO SEE YOU!!!! Don't be a stranger. I've been meaning to talk some British with you. lol Wot? Stay tuned. I don't watch The Eastender's on CBC for NOTHIN you know! AND...I've seen EVER EPISODE of Keeping up Appearances....lol My favorite British sitcom. lol I love BBC America...only we don't get it currently. But, all things British are WONDERFUL!

Billie.....PERSONALITY INVENTORY!!!!!! Oh GOOD HEAVENS!!!!..... ~ Do they have a section specifically for MULTI PERSONALITIES???? ~ Just call me SYBIL!!! :D

Sherry? did they give him some WAX??? If not, ask for some. It helps smooth anything as he's trying to adjust to all this new metal in his mouth poking him. I feel for you both....these days are going to be several hurting days.....there's just NO getting around it. It eases as the days go by....but it's an adjustment.

Sherry, did you ever have braces? If not, I can tell you how it feels....from an adult perspective....in all seriousness. I was a teenager...but, since you mentioned what he's going through...I can at least give you and idea what you can expect. He's going to be crabby and cranky and whiny generally ALWAYS the day after the appointment....and will have difficulty eating anything tough. Tylenol or pain med of choice works. It just takes a DAY for a "normal" appointment. However, this is his first...so alot of work got done...and it's all aqward and new...so it's going to feel much worse to him since he's never had anything like this happen to him!

Here's the info on the MSM I had saved on my computer.

http://www.supplementwatch.com/suplib/supplement.asp?DocId=1198

I've looked everywhere and nobody ever says it's bad for you. The worst review is a lukewarm "we don't know if there's any benefit". I get mine from Swanson's by mail order. It's about $13/jar and I get five or six jars at a time. Doc has me taking 20g/day in two doses. I still have aches and pains, so it's not a miracle cure, but as a guitar player, I can vouch for the fingernails. He said it benefits everything in your body made of keretin (sp?).

It would be great to get some Body Pump converts here! Some highlights about Body Pump - it's an hour long class that uses special bars and weights. The workout includes squats, chest press, back (dead lifts, rows, clean and press), triceps, biceps, shoulders and abds. Each muscle group is worked about 4 minutes straight - lots of reps - so you work with less weight compared to working in the weight room. Oh, also, its choregraphed to music, which helps your motivation! I find I will work harder in a Body Pump class than if I work out on my own in the weight room. But I also think you have to switch things around periodically - if I do the same workouts for too long, I get stale and I don't improve. I skipped Body Pump for about 6 months and I've just started back again, so I'm really enjoying it right now.

Billie - thanks for the inquiry about my progress. I'm doing really well right now - I've lost 9 pounds since my start date and some inches. The loss has already slowed (5 lbs the first week, and 1-2 lbs since), but I knew that would happen. I just have to be patient and stick to it!

Funny how many INs there are on this challenge. I figured out my type last year, but now I've forgotten which one. Definately IN though! I'm not very comfortable with posting either - I tend to preview my posts 3 or 4 times, and then sometimes I'll delete it because I think it sounds dumb. I really enjoy reading everyone else's post though. What a fun group.

I have something similar to that at my gym...however, it alternates resistance training with aerobic. Boy, oh, boy..after the focus on one muscle group, your muscles are screaming! And your mind is longing for cardio. Then, your heart is screaming for a "cool down" to work on the muscles. It is exhausting...but a very good workout!

Lunch out with friends at a non-low carb friendly pasta/pizza place and dinner with the folks I stayed with just about did me in, even though I tried to make good choices. Hiya Missy,

WPI = Whey Protein Isolate, any protein powder would do for the recipe I think, just count the carbs in it (my unflavoured one has 0.5g per 100grams so I use it a lot)

and no threatening to kill yourself or you might get carted away to the funny farm :)

I hear ya...3 great hours of entertainment (at least I'm working out while watching them for 2 of those 3 hours! Soooo, I don't feel toooooo guilty.). I'm hooked to certain reality shows...just ask Missy...as well as doctor shows...which ironically I didn't watch until I've had umpteen surgeries in the past 3 years. Now, when I watch the show, I think..oh, I've had that. Pretty sad! This body is not aging gracefully.
