This online test was broadcast live last night. Test the nations health. I knew it would be bad but didn't expect the archaic content that turned up. This is a country that literally crawls with grass fed free range meat, dairy from grass fed herds, fresh fruit and vegatables to burn. We have one of the very highest cardio vascular disease rates in the world. Do this on line test to see why!!!

Just make up a profile to get to the questions. You will quickly realise what I am on about. We are a thousand years from a solution if this is the prevailing wisdom!

I did it - and I answered what I think not what I know to be their thinking - hmm.

I got 20 out of 40 (not quite sure how your knowledge of obsure health statistics affects your own wellbeing!) ... but still got mostly green lights and apparently I only have a 3.5% chance of dropping dead of a heart attack in the next five years!! Gee if I only swallowed their line on cholesterol and saturated fat I'd presumably live forever! ;)
John (welcome btw) I'd send whoever was responsible a thankyou note (I favour the sarcasm approach when dealing with (clearly) mindless media nobodys). Perhaps you could voice your disappointment that your lipid hypothesis hero, Ancel Keys (who is credited with much or the anti sat fat bias espoused by the creators of this 'test') was clearly way off the mark when he told us over 50 years ago that dietary cholesterol has a negligible effect on blood cholesterol He (and others) even conducted tests where massive doses of cholesterol were given to human test subjests with only transient effect ... and apparently they were all wrong!! Silly them! .. and us for believing in them when they actually resorted to real science (a thankfully rare transgression! :).

Hi Malcolm and Lisa, I've actually been a member on the forum for a long time (4yrs I think, maybe more!) but became a new member again when the new forum started. I haven't been posting a lot but read often. I watched the on air test and was absolutely appalled by the advice from the epidemiological prof. and the nutritionist. I have written pointing out the most glaring problems but don't expect any response. It is very depressing however to see this "b... s..." propagated as a way of becomming healthy. In NZ the polynesian population have a life expectancy 10yrs less than the rest of the country and this is the cure all for this problem. UGGGG!

Well, I got a 20 out of 40 with a 7.5% risk.
Some of the questions had no answer that was correct, so I put down the least incorrect one as the choice.
I got 24 out of 40 with a 5% risk. I would have gotten a higher score but they have their answers wrong (polys are not healthier than saturated fat). I'm also going to die a horrible death, according to them, because of all that terrible saturated fat I consume.
