How is everyone's exercise going in the heat wave that seems to be hitting us all? Hopefully you're all using caution and keeping hydrated :)!

No heat wave here - rain, dampness, high humidity - mixed bag of weather, to say the least. We do carry fluids with us on our walks/runs, though.

I picked up a 32 oz cooler cup that I fill twice a day for a minimum 64 oz. and anything else is bonus. We are away at a friends cottage for the week, near Westpost Ontario. They are off visiting family so our days are completly free and we are making it a pleasure weekend with lots of exercise workouts, a few movie rentals and no chores other than maintaining the grounds. I forgot my flippers but we normally swim the lake twice while here (just over a 1.5 miles) so I may drive back to get them tomorrow or pick up another pair (same cost as driving back & forth).
Sunday - 3 x up and down the WestPort hill with hiking poles (45 mins), half hour swim
Monday - WestPort hill - (45 mins) half hour swim
Tuesday - WestPort hill - half hour swim, 20-30 mins. weights 'til failure
Wednesday - WestPort - half hour swim - Clear brush - cut grass 90 mins
Thursday - Westport hill - half hour swim
Friday - WestPort hill (should be down to 35 minutes) half hour swim
Saturday - Day off

It's been just pleasantly warm here, but the forecast is for hotter weather next week. I'm planning to live in the basement ;).
The exercise will be pretty working on trying out some more of the optional extras in my current yoga practice. So far there haven't been any problems: if anything, my back is feeling better, even with the extra forward-bending, which is one of the things I've always needed to approach with caution.

Well gosh, if anyone wants some hot weather, I'd be more than happy to pass some along !

That's awesome :D!

New exercises on the weekend for me:
- Good Mornings
- Squat in Smith Cage
One I haven't done in a while:
- assisted chin-ups
Plus a bunch of regular ones, and walking/running with dogs.

I'm still waiting on the doc to clear me for exercise after the surgery - my post-op appt is tommorrow. I really miss posting my daily doings here! On the plus side, my knee isn't giving me any trouble now, so that problem is mostly healed. I think I'm going to try cycling instead of walking for my cardio in the future - I've heard it's less stressful on the knees, and I know it helps the flexibility in my ankles...
I hope to at least be able to start stretching again tomorrow, if nothing else...

I hope your doctor gives you the all-clear :). Take it easy with the cycling if you decide to do that. I've never had knee problems from walking, but have had trouble several times from cycling.

Sunday, July 16 - 5 km with dogs - 41:45
Exercises at gym
Monday - 1.5 km; 15 minutes with dogs
Tuesday - 3 km or so - 25:10:09 with dogs
Wednesday - 4 km or so - 38:43:80 with dogs
Thursday - 9 km? - 56:48 with dogs (gee, it was hot)
Friday - 9.5 - 10 km (estimate) 1 hour, 40 minutes in at least 28C weather with dogs. Must have been nuts - but there are not that many places for them to jump in a stream, so we just kept going till we found a couple. One in particular is deep enough for them to swim, and it seems to cool them down for the remainder of the journey.
Saturday - 10.5 km (estimate) with dogs - very humid. Different route. Let them stop a few times for swimming purposes. Gone from house for nearly two hours; moving (according to watch) about 1:37
An hour or so at the gym prior to exercising the dogs - are we nuts or what?
Yesterday I did an intense full body ciruit on nautilus equip that took 15 min. because I new I didn't have enough energy to devote and intense workout to one body group like I usually do. Then I went on the recumbent bike and quit after 5 min...UGH! I immediatly remembered how tough the transition for those enzymes to get to work and it hasn't happened yet! On Sat. 15th I did 90 min of aerobics just to let you know capabilities.
I started Phase 1 on Mon. 17th.

Welcome, Root and congratulations on starting phase 1! I'm sure in no time that energy will come back and you can return to your regular workouts :).
Thanks Shadow,
Yesterday I was able to do 15 min on a recumbent bike and 15 min on an eliptical machine while doing interval training between 120's and 150's.
You were right, as in "no time", and I guess 1 week is the base line as PP suggested.
