Just got my 6 month lab results back and I'm pleased, although the NP wants to see lower LDL:

Hb1AC 6.3 (this is down 0.1 point from 6 months ago)
----------------------------
TC 197
HDL 60
LDL 129
Tri 43

All the ratios are well within the Eades' recommendations

One year ago:
TC 239
HDL 51
LDL 176
Tri 49

Tried to tell her I didn't need to worry about the LDL since with such low Tri, I probably had light fluffy particles, and she gave me a look that said, "You've got to be kidding". Actually said that low tri doesn't excuse the high LDL. (sigh) But I'm happy with the results, and that's what counts, right? ;)

Get a new doctor. If she is somehow worried about your (normal) LDL instead of concentrating on ways of getting your HbA1C down she should hand in her licence.

I partially agree with you, but she's the only game in town. Other doctors in the surrounding towns are just out of med school and working off their loans -- I've had very bad experiences with them as they seem to want to find esoteric illnesses and don't really listen. This nurse practitioner might be a bit old fashioned, but I can live with that since I also have such good information from other sources. Plus blood sugars are getting better and the HbA1C is coming down slowly with the addition of Metaformin and PP eating. From what I've read, a score in the low 6's is termed good control. I know in the 5's would be better and I'm trying to get there.

Thanks, Sherry. I decided it was time to come out of lurk mode and be a bit more active. We'll see how it goes.
