I agree with your statements, "LOSING WEIGHT IS NOT EASY" and "KEEPING IT OFF IS LESS EASY YET", IF one diets every day, rather than every OTHER day. And following a low-carb diet is neither easier nor more effective than following any other regime IF one follows such a regime using an every OTHER day eating system.

If you diet every other day, you CAN eat whatever you want, whenever you want, provided you use the correct number of calories on both days. You won't build up a backlog of hunger, as you will on an every day diet. And the consequences are these: eradication of food cravings, constant hunger and compulsive overeating in 21 days, along with enjoyable, predictable, permanent weight loss---without a magic wand.

If you have any spare time at all, Dr Eades, I hope you'll enjoy reading at least the home page and Post #5 of my diet coaching site, Hooked on Normal Eating, at www.blogsource.com. All the best to you.

Dr. Eades, that email is very funny, yet sad because I think it represents what almost everyone secretly wishes: The magical thing that will make us lose weight while we can eat whatever we want! I know I've had a secret fantasty since I was young that I'd wake up beautiful and slim one morning. I'm older and wiser now, so I now want to add beautiful, slim and younger to my wish. :)

Personally, I like the way you do the TV show. It's been great and I can't wait for more!

First off, I don't see many cooking shows that have more than one person. But I would find it extremely awkward if two people were on a show and rarely spoke to each other. It's only natural to talk to one another while filming and I think it's great. There's good humor, it shows to us that you both enjoy cooking which makes me feel better, and you both mention things that are helpful!

Secondly, I noticed that you cooked less, as well, but that's perfectly fine. I like the balance kind of, of Mary doing a lot of the cooking and explaining what to put in, how it would taste, etc, and then you would explain the nutritional benefits and what to look for (ie, heavy celery roots). Without those, it would harder for me to understand why oil is good, or sugar alcohols are bad, etc.

I LOVE the cooking show and hope you come out with some new episodes asap. Can't wait for the new website, too!

So true, Dr. Eads.
I was 243 pounds, on March '05.
I had all of the lo carb books....Atkins...Protein Power....Schwartzbein....
I after doing some review I decided Protein Power would work best for me. I cleared out the kitchen of all the garbage food and filled the fridge with good proteins, vegetables, and lo carb fruit.
However, the true work came when I joined a gym....working out 4-5 days a week.
To make a long story short, I have lost 65 pounds, weighing in on New Years Eve at 178. My cholesterol numbers dropped well into the healthy range and my blood pressure improved so much the Doctor almost did cartwheels. He still can't believe that my resting rate is in the low 60's.
But now comes the hard work....I'm 5'2''...178...I figure I should weigh around 140-150....and today I return to the gym and back to Protein Power after a 2 week hiatus. I didn't gain weight, just wasn't as disciplined as I should be.
The bottom line is that unless you are willing to put in the hard work, it wont happen.

Now that's a good one. Can you reccommend a diet for me to lose fat that will allow me to eat the same stuff in the same quantity that put the fat there in the first place? HA!
