Hey, if you're coming to Maine, you might be able to speak at a future Lunch & Learn after all!

Just kidding! You might want to make a side trip to the Women to Women Center in Yarmouth, though, to find out why they're bad-mouthing Protein Power and other low-carb plans.

On a serious note, are you speaking somewhere in Maine? If it's open to the public, I'd love to attend.

Hi Kathy--

We're not speaking anywhere. We've got to go to Portland for a meeting with some business associates.

Maybe when Taubes' book comes out the folks at Women to Women will change their tune.

Cheers--

Air travel sucks these days. DH travels almost every week. Sunday he left the house at 8:30 am for a quick flight to Florida (we're in Maine). He didn't arrive in his hotel room until 2:00 am (that's Monday morning!). USAirways.

He was recently stuck in Washington Dulles. His flight out of Phoenix was delayed, so he missed his connection. This was on a Thursday at around 11:00 pm. They told him the next flight they could get him on was SUNDAY! And he's the "Gold Elite" or whatever nonsense level USAirways has that means nothing. He ended up getting a flight to Laguardia and then renting a car and driving the rest of the way to Maine.

And you have no recourse with the airlines!

Sorry. Done ranting.

Glad you're back!

Hi Kathy--

No one knows better than I how badly air travel sucks these days. A normal, on-time flight seems to be the exception.

I hate to hear that your DH had a problem flying out of Maine because the next plane trip I have to make is to Maine. I hope he's used up all the bad airline ju ju so that I don't get any of it.
I'm glad to be back.

Cheers--

Glad you both made it back in one piece and with uneventful flights, too!

Did you happen to catch this?:

http://www.cnn.com/2007/TRAVEL/07/23/passport.mess.ap/index.html?iref=newssearch

And it looks like we weren't the only ones to have experienced a mess at the passport office:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/low/uk_politics/486821.stm

Hi Esther--

Thanks for the articles on the passport mess. I love the one about the federal official accepting the blame. Said official said:

I accept complete responsibility for this.

Hmm. Does that mean this person will reimburse all the people who spent thousands of dollars on non-refundable flights and vacation plans for their expense? It's easy to say I accept responsibility. It's another thing to really take responsibility and do something about the problems you've caused.

Apologies without action is a big bunch of BS as far as I'm concerned.

Cheers--
