I know this is an old posting (I'm treating myself to going back and reading all your blog articles), but since the longer DST went into effect this year, it seemed timely (no pun intended). I remember back in the '60s when they were first talking about DST. One guy wrote a scathing letter to the paper saying that humans have no business changing the orbit of the earth.
