Vadim,

You said you plan to jump into the water at Cony Island, right? Let me know when you do that, I'll bring my HD video cam to record it for all to see!

Thank you Dr Eades! Have a wonderful holiday season! I am indeed grateful to have found your website. Your opinion and recommendations are valueless. I am sure they have value, but still what you do here is priceless, especially given the fact that some people like me ask and write too much at times! Lol, some of us are just more eccentric than others. Marry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours. May the New Year bring you and your family an ocean of health, a sea of love, a river of money and a lake of laughs! Thank you my friend and I hope your work will eventually resonate throughout and change the world!

Thanks for the sentiments, Vadim. You, too, have a great holiday season. Especially the cold plunge in the lake. I sure am sorry I'll be missing it.

Cheers

Dear Dr E,
I know exactly how you feel! Mighty Australia was beaten by South Africa in the First Test in Perth (sob! sob!). And it wasn't even close!
Michael Richards

I hate it when you just can't rely on your own team to win every time.

Merry Christmas to you and your family doc,
Next time you want to have a meeting and see some football, consider Pittsburgh. Heck, some guy would have shared his "Jamesons" with you right outta his goat skin flask! Stay away from the Iron City beer though. Worst local beer I've ever experienced save for Old Style in Chitown.. ugh! But the fans are definately entertaining and are as die hard as you can get. We did just lose a tough one to Tennessee and of course they were calling for half the organizations resignation and the other half to be drawn and quartered. Good time to lose though and good team to lose to. They'll be more focused come the post season.
Is Jamesons your choice in Irish whiskey?

Jameson is indeed my choice of Irish whiskey. I've tried numerous in blind tastings, and Jameson always comes out on top. When I've done blind tastings of different Jameson, the 18-year old beats the 12-year old, which bests the regular. But I'll take just plain old $20 a bottle Jameson anytime. In fact, I may go have some right now.

Merry Christmas.

I have an unrelated question. I kind of overindulged on carbs over the weekend, football party and beer you know. Today I decided to kind of take it easy and go back to low carb, mostly protein shakes. I felt weak and brain foggy all day and night. Then stupid me I decided to weight lift a bit just to get my blood pumping. In the middle of my work out I started feeling very lightheaded and tachycardiac. Then I became disoriented and went to ER. My glucose was 55, they gave me an orange dirnk. My question is how is it possible to get that hypoglycemic if I am not diabetic. Whats the mechanism? Can it get dangerous to have hypoglycemia for a guy without diabetes or is it case of not eating enouph. But I thought overindulging a night before would have enouph glycogen storage in the liver to compensate for low glucose intake today? I am puzzled!

I'm not sure a blood sugar of 55 would be enough to cause your symptoms by itself. Sounds to me more like a combination of dehydration and a little touch of hypoglycemia.

Seattle is very big. I remember walking around and being blown away by the larger than life scale scale. I'm a native New Englander and my idea of a city comes directly from Boston. In comparison, wandering around Seattle was to feel like I had been put directly in the "Honey, I Shrunk The Kids" movie.

I picked up this from you last set of comments as I thought it was interesting.

The famous singer initially tried to convert the Tibetian Spiritual leader to vegetarianism, insisting that it was “wrong” to eat meat.

In his tirade, McCartney wrote to The Dalai Lama to highlight that meat eaters create suffering for animals, and that this fact contradicted a basic tenant of Buddhism that its followers should “not cause suffering to any sentient beings”.

Even before we did low carb, I felt that vegetarianism was wanting as a "spiritual" calling.

Plants do not grow seeds, roots, and/or fruit for our consumption. If you've ever tended a garden, you know that when a plant gets stressed, it throws all of it's energy into it's "dying" act of reproduction. Seed and fruit production is always an energy intensive project for a plant. Also, almost every plant I've every harvested or pruned back has "bled", that is leaked sap and attempted to heal over.

In that light, I don't get why it's "okay" to kill/use plants but not "okay" to kill/use animals. If you value life, you must value all life forms, not just the ones that look and act like us. The reality is *something* must die or expend energy (milk, eggs, seeds) so that I can eat. Life and death are completely intertwined. I often felt that vegetarians willing to go on tirades like Paul's have not faced that reality. (I guess I've embraced my "inner carnivore" - LOL)

Also, I would tend to think Paul has really lost it since Linda died, since personally I would feel like a total moron telling The *Dalai Lama* about correct spiritual paths. Oh, well. I hope your traveling went well.

Thanks for your thoughts. We escapes snowy Seattle after a little delay and made it safely and without a hitch to Dallas.

Most people would feel like morons lecturing the Dalai Lama about spiritual paths, correct or not, unless they were in the grip of Sir Paul-like hubris. Something good has come of it, though. His idiotic pronouncements have inspired me to finish a post I started a while back. I'll try to have it up after Christmas.

Dr Mike, Jets suck, plain and simple! These Jets girls were not motivated and defensive backs couldtn do squat against offensove line of Seatle, who got their secondary guys off the street. I was disappointed and think Erik Mangini needs to go, he is too passive and unmotivating! Sorry you lost your money!

I have an answer for Todd above regarding nutrients to replenish after drinking alcohol, if you feel like posting it. I take a supplement that contains the nutrients listed below. I also make sure to drink at least 8 oz of water for every glass of wine or shot of whiskey. It isn't a "get-out-of-jail-free" card. I do have to drink like a grown-up and not a frat boy, but I would do that anyway. But the combination of supplements and water leave me feeling like I had had nothing stronger than herb tea the night before. The water alone or the supplements alone are not as good.

Sodium 10 mg
Vitamin C (as calcium ascorbate, 1 gram
Vitamin E (as natural D-alpha tocopheryl) 30 IU
Thiamine (vitamin B-1) 300 mg
Riboflavin (vitamin B-2) 15 mg
Niacinamide 50 mg Niacin 25 mg 75 mg
Vitamin B-6 (as pyridoxine HCl) 30 mg
Folate (as folic acid) 300 mcg
Vitamin B-12 (as cyanocobalamin) 30 mcg
Biotin 50 mcg
Pantothenic Acid (vitamin B-5) 25 mg
Calcium (as calcium ascorbate) 106 mg
Magnesium (as magnesium oxide) 200 mg
Manganese (as manganese ascorbate) 4 mg
N-Acetyl Cysteine 150 mg
Silymarin (from milk thistle seed extract) 150 mg
L-Cysteine (HCl) 100 mg
Feverfew Leaf Extract 100 mg
Choline (as choline bitartrate) 100 mg
Chlorella 50 mg
Phosphatidyl Choline (as lecithin) 25 mg
Inositol 25 mg

I love the way you so honestly profess "What a vile troll she was" -

It's refreshing to read something that truly does tell it like it is! You've inspired me to be a little more forthright on my own blog
