Yeah, the letter and numbers are a pain, but I have the same at my blog, for the same reasons.

I understand completely. It’s so frustrating to have to wade through all the junk to get to the real comments. What a huge waste of time! I hope the new system works better for you. Too bad they don’t make something similar to deal with all the automated phone calls Iget… (I’m on the no call list but it hasn’t helped.. I get those annoying computer dialed calls that have a recorded message once you answer. I get them several times a day. Now I don’t answer the phone unless I recognize the number.)

Thanks for commiserating. Since installing the new plug in requiring commenters to type in a series of letters and/or numbers I have not had a single spam. Problem is, I’m still working through the hundreds I do have from before plucking out the real comments (such as this one) along the way.
