New book update

We’ve finally got the cover art for the new book, which is now up on Amazon for pre-order! It will not hurt our feelings a bit if you all order copies for your several thousand closest friends.

We’re in Wyoming right now, in Jackson Hole to be exact. We came out on a quick trip for a meeting and a little R & R while we’re here. Since we kind of left on short notice and aren’t really going to stay long (plus I didn’t know exactly what our accommodations would be), I didn’t bring my normal stack of medical papers. Hence, I’ll be blogging on some not so scientific stuff for the next couple of posts.

New York to Dallas (and more on vitamin D)

st-patricks-cathedral.jpg

Just got in from a whirlwind trip to New York, which ended up what with family and business obligations being the busiest trip there I’ve ever experienced. MD and I have just enough time to go through the mail, do laundry and head back to the airport to fly to Dallas for Christmas. Once back, we’ll have some time of our own.

I have to apologize yet again for not answering the many comments that have stacked up. I simply haven’t had time. But I will get to them, I promise.

Back at last from a long multi-city trip

Mom and Mike

MD and I got back a couple of days ago from a long trip that took us from Santa Barbara to Texas to Maine to Michigan and finally back to Santa Barbara. We had some business to do in Maine and we couldn’t get that close to Michigan without stopping to see my folks whom we hadn’t seen in almost two years. It was great to see them and to see my two sisters who also live in nearby. What with all the visiting and all I didn’t really have the time to blog.

Along with the visit we had a lot of good food. As you can see from the photo below of my breakfast plate, Mom hasn’t lost her ability to make perfect fried eggs over easy. Nor has she lost her ability to make the best carrot cake imaginable, but we won’t go into that.

Blogging at LAX

Here I sit in the Continental Lounge at LAX waiting for a flight to Cleveland with a connection to Gatwick. There is WiFi throughout the lounge, so I figured I would use this opportunity to blog a little.

I’m eager to try Continental on a transcontinental flight. I’ve only flown Continental once before, and that I can’t remember anything about the flight because the circumstances of the flight overshadowed everything else. MD and I were on our way to appear on the Ricki Lake Show, God help us.

I had been at a business meeting the night before when I got a call on my cell from MD telling me that someone had called from the Ricki Lake Show wanting us to be the obesity experts on the show filming the next day. Neither of us had ever seen the Ricki Lake Show (we almost never watch TV of any kind), but we knew it was a national show and figured it would be good for book sales (Protein Power had recently been published), so I told her to go ahead, call them back, and tell them we would appear.

When I got home after the meeting MD told me we were a go, and that the show would have tickets waiting for us the next morning at 6:30 at the Continental counter at the airport.
